I stopped playing Suikoden 2 and decided to play my PS4 and am currently playing FEZ and Rogue Legacy. Also got Infamous: First Light but haven't played it yet because I can't stop playing FEZ.
What are you Playing?

Crown of the Old Iron King DLC for Dark Souls 2. Got a decent amount through it today, I think. No bosses yet but a bunch of bonfires and ash statues taken care of.
-
I watched a video comparing the old Abe's Odyssey game to the remake and it prompted me to try playing the game again. I'm actually enjoying it this time, though I haven't gotten very far in it. It helps that I am apparently paying more attention to the opening tutorial than I originally did and now know how to play.
-
The plat for NnK is really hard work and a lot of grinding/farming but in my opinion it's worth it.
Don't know yet about it being worth it :D but I don't have anything else to play right now and I don't know I almost forgot how pretty the game is so even if the grind isn't particularly entertaining it's at least nice to look at.
Bäm last trophy mad scientist time to steal shit.
-
Just started playing God Of War Ascension again and it feels fucking sweet. Just now killed the Manticore and I'm gonna fuck up some more shit soon.
-
Did my Ni no Kuni platinum wasn't as bad as I thought I would be.
I actually had fun getting 250 different kinds of imajinn.
The worst thing was probably getting affection up on one of my imajinn. But it was ok since I was doing other stuff like capturing new guys or getting alchemy ingredients.Guess I've ran out of JRPGs I like enough to want to do their platinum.
–-----------------------------------
I'm in the weird mood where I would be even up for doing the FFXIII platinum but that would really break my rule about only doing platinums for games I love. -
Super Mario 3D World: Fuckin' Champion's Road.
Mario Kart 8: Just eight more stamps til I complete the set. If only they made that the requirement to get the gold glider -.-

Yep. Everything accomplished besides completing everything with every character and champion's road

I've run out of Wii U Games on my console games list to play and my brother has the PS3 at moment so I'm stuck and can't play any more of those games right now, so I took a break from my list and just beat the original NES Megaman 1 for the first time…
The Yellow Devil is a bastard, I wanted to slam my head through my desk repeatedly until I figured out the trick to beating him in one hit.
-
@Purple:

Damn I couldn't imagine playing through champion's road with all 5 characters completing it once even with Peach was just difficult by itself.

The key is to rope three friends in for a sadistic form of friendship

Makes hella sense to me :ninja:.
That aside I decided to give Persona 3 a break and currently I'm playing through Virtue's Last Reward already got Dio's ending and Luna's ending which was depressing to say the least along with some of the bad endings.
-
Tearaway because I'm stupid. I totally forgot I bought that game pretty near when it came out. Somehow someway I didn't really play it and kind of forgot about it. Found it today by chance.
-
Started playing a game called Aurora. Essentially it's a 4x game (kind of like Civilization) except it's a lot more in depth. I actually haven't really done anything in the game so far in the about an hour I played it besides assign people to do things and shipyards to build spaceships. It's primarily menu-based it seems. Want to actually get into combat or diplomacy to see how that's handled.
Also played a bit more of Blood. I'm a bit into the carnival level, though not sure how far. I feel pretty bad at the game as I think I'm savescumming quite a bit because I die so often.

My God
I did it
I finally did it

Finished my delightful time with tearaway, it went by way too fast.
Game is really cool in how it uses what the Vita has, haven't used the touch functions to this extent since gravity rush and even more important it didn't annoy me. -
More Fallout 3. My initial idea of putting all my eggs in the critical hit basket is starting to come to fruition. With 10 Luck and some additional perks, I'm feeling like I'm getting crits more often than not (though really only in VATS, where I get the additional +15% on top), and I just took the perk to give me 50% more damage on my criticals. Now it just comes down to the weapon multipliers. With one more perk, I'll be able to have 100% critical chance in VATS with the sniper rifle, thanks to its x5 chance. Almost all the rest of the weapons I'm using also have critical multipliers higher than x1 as well. The only ones that don't are the combat shotgun (soon to be replaced by the railway rifle, as soon as I can gather the parts to build it), and the Chinese assault rifle, which actually has a multiplier of less than x1. So it goes against the playing style I'm trying for, but I'm only keeping it as a backup weapon, because unlike the others, I've amassed a huge amount of ammo for it.

I actually went back and almost did it with Rosalina
But then I die at the part with all the dash things so that'll be some other day I guess

Beat the Carnival level in Blood. Finally figured out that the mouselook toggle actually allows both vertical and horizontal mouse looking. I assumed I already had mouselook on because I could aim horizontally with the mouse already but that wasn't the case. Not like it has much use as there's no need for vertical aiming in Build engine games and other similar games but it's nice at points to be able to look up and down to see the environment.

Only got a few more bits to play through before I finish with VLR, if there's one thing I like (i.e. hate) it's how when Everyone else get's 9BP they get to leave, you get 9BP you get to stay against your will.
-
Just finished Mother 3.

Beat the 4th (I think) level in Blood, the one after the carnival. Been playing around with settings to get the performance up since emulating games typically ruins performance and Monolith never released the code like Wolfenstein, Doom, and DN3D did so people could adjust it to work well with modern computers. I hate the gargoyle enemies.
Also started Driver. This game is kind of hard. It took me a while to even beat the tutorial level, which is required to get to the actual game. Also I don't know if this game came out before the PS1 controller got analog sticks, but the gamepad controls are garbage. Plays much better with a keyboard.
-
Playing through Kid Icarus: Uprising now. Just got to the fakeout ending lol. Well played Sakurai.
Also, holding the system in such a way that I can play it with the stylus makes my hand hurt after a while DX

Just finished Mother 3.

That ending is an emotional rollercoaster.
I would go as far as saying that it is one of my favorite video game endings ever.

Still playing Kid Icarus: Uprising, but I just got to Viridi.
That… is Starfire's voice coming out of that character... and this pleases me greatly...

@CCC:
Ohhh I see. Thought you meant you feel the same way about AA as I do about Ghost Trick!
But yeah. The text-heaviness in this one comes from the story, mostly. Also optional character-driven hints that are really more flavor text than actual crutches.
Just finished Ghost Trick. What an incredible game.

Fallout 3 update:
I really, really, really don't like the swampfolk in Point Lookout. Being able to tank a sneak attack crit to the head with a sniper rifle like it's nothing doesn't sit well with me. Honestly, this whole area seems pretty much set up to counter my sneaking play style, because everyone is in groups, so once I take a shot, my cover is blown. I should probably switch to using my magnum primarily rather than my sniper rifle. I should have enough AP to fire that 3-4 times in a round of VATS, rather than 2 for the rifle. The question is whether the magnum has enough power to take out (non-swampfolk) enemies with a sneak crit to the head. I'll have to take a look.

Just finished Ghost Trick. What an incredible game.
Glad you enjoyed it! $16 well spent, right?
-
I decided to actually finish every game I've started and be efficient in doing so time-wise, in an effort to prepare myself before the Autumn/Holiday games start coming out. Once Smash Bros. hits that'll be that.
Here are the ones I'm finishing/just finished.
Mega Man - Just beat it
Mega Man II - Beat it
Earthbound - Beat it
Advance Wars
Xenoblade Chronicles
Super Paper Mario
Super Mario Bros.
SMB 2
SMB 3
The Legend of Zelda (NES)
Zelda II
Link's Awakening
Oracle of Ages/Seasons
Kid Icarus (NES)
Kid Icarus Uprising
Bravely Default
Paper Mario Sticker Star
NES Remix
Majora's Mask
Super Mario 64
Golden Sun
MK8 (that damn gold glider…)
and various others. While it seems like a daunting list, I've made considerable progress on all of them and need to simply put in an hour or two to finish most up. My deadline right now is September 9th when Destiny comes out.

Glad you enjoyed it! $16 well spent, right?
Yeah definitely. I was surprised at how long it actually was. And the attention to detail was incredible.
! It all adds up with how you don't know how to read or most other human concepts like science and execution. Yet having co-occupied a body with a human for a while, it gives some leeway. And cats ARE really curious, after all! Also I totally knew the cat was important when it was shown the first time knocking the body over, but as the hours passed I kind of forgot about it. Then when it made a reappearance at the start of the last chapter I was like "oh duh that's me." Definitely didn't see the lamp's identity coming though (and really, with all the time travel and interplay between timelines, who could lol).
! The only thing I guess that kind of bothers me is how they glossed over the original Sissel (Yomiel's fiancée). Apparently she died sometime between his arrest and getting his body back? Given that he said he went to go see her as soon as he got it back but it was "too late." And yet, that was only a day or two at most, right? Not sure why her fate would necessarily change based on the events of that day like they were saying, unless the implication is that she committed suicide upon hearing of Yomiel's death or something, but that wasn't clear to me. I also wasn't sure if the girl who had been visiting Yomiel in jail after preventing his death was supposed to be Sissel. -
Nooooooo I finally got in the mood to play Deponia(which I got from a sale some time ago just wasn't in the mood for it) and wow, Foolio pretty much nailed it all in his post about it, so I have nothing to add to that.
But now I have to deal with that cliffhanger.
I'm fighting the instinct to get part 2-3 for 20 bucks each, that's a pretty steep price…. I must resist and hope for a good sale.... -
I waited for a GOG sale and it paid off. But the sequels didn't live up to the original IMO.
-

Can you elaborate without spoiling?
Or are the reasons strongly tied to the plot? I think one of my main concerns would be Rufus character development. Part 1 really ended on a note setting him on the path to become way more likable. Would be a shame if they just ignored that and have him continue his narcissistic shtick. -
Part of it is plot, but that's mostly a complaint about the 3rd game and the ending. And as for character development… it wouldn't be a Deponia game without Rufus being Rufus for the most part.
Otherwise I'd say certain aspects just got overused and tiresome by the time you're on the 3rd installment or even the later parts of the 2nd (though I must say the first area of Deponia 2 might be the strongest of all the games, overall). Oh that, and a few infuriating puzzles (like one that breaks the 4th wall in a way that really pissed me off).
-
Mmh I think it's good that my expectations are a bit dampened now for when I get to them. The first one was just so surprising I was really hoping that 2-3 will amaze in some way or another, well expectations are adjusted now.
Still looking forward to playing them sometime. As for Rufus yeah I'm not expecting him to turn into a saint or anything I just want to get the feeling that the guy grows. He's such an idiot in the first game and I don't even mean that in a bad way. I mean it's lots of eye rolling for sure but it's occasionally pretty amusing.
-
Just beat Mega Man 2. Gotta say, lack of the Yellow Devil and the addition of the Energy Tanks that let me replenish my health up to full up to 4 times anytime I want made this game much less frustrating. Really good game.
Tho, to hell with Quick Man's stage. And Heat Man's Stage too while I'm at it.
Gonna take a Mega Man Break right now and play Metroid: Zero Mission.
UPDATE: Beat Kraid. That was hardish. Gonna sleep now.
-
Got me a new ps4 and the last of us remastered, and man the game looks gorgeous. And the cutscenes look exactly like the game most of the time, while on ps3 you definitely saw a difference between gameplay and cutscenes. And it runs at 60 fps which makes it even better. Gonna play through it on hard and then try the even more difficult modes with new game plus. And since I haven't played the great left behind dlc yet and didn't fully try the multiplayer mode, I have lots of awesome content to go through with this game.
And I also started playing vanquish, that was sitting in my ps plus list of games that I haven't played yet for too long. As with the majority of platinum games it is a fantastic character action game. Kinda wish there was another game with the awesome sliding and slowmo mechanic that they created for it.
-
Just finished Ghost Trick. What an incredible game.
Loved that game! I was so furious when I heard there was going to be a Professor Layton x Phoenix Wright x Ghost Trick game, only to find out it was an April Fool's Trick. Got me real good.
-
So, as my list of games I need to beat has finally whittled down to nothingness (The console list only has One game I actually paid for, Kingdom Hearts HD, left, and I'm flying through the handheld games) I'm starting to put together my list of classic games I want to start playing and I've posted a few times to show I've already begun to dabble (Beat Megaman 1 and 2, as well as Metroid already) and I need a tad bit of advice from anyone who has played these series', ESPECIALLY Fire Emblem as that's the series I feel the most lost about.
Putting the list into a spoiler tag because it's big:! Megaman Series:

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Fire Emblem AwakeningMy major questions are:
1: Does anyone have any reccomendations for stuff I should add/remove from my lists?
2: Are there any retro series that I'm neglecting (accepting that Mario, DK, Zelda, Sonic, etc are off the table, as I've not missed an entry in any of those series')
3: Fire Emblem ESPECIALLY, Did I make good calls on which games to play? I picked Monshō no Nazo because Wikipedia says the first half of it is a remake of the original game and the second half is basically a sequel to that.
I also didn't include any game that's stated to be a spin-off or a side-story.Mother, and FE, and FF are the last on my list due to the fact that as JRPGs, they're gonna be the longest games and on top of that, I'm gonna need to do a lot of Japanese reading for at least 5 of these games. While I know the language, it's still not my first language and so it takes more concentration than something in English, especially something that's all walls of text like that…
Anyway, any help I can get on any of this would be appreciated. Smash Bros. has inspired me to broaden my retro gaming cred.
-
Just finished a long playthrough session of Akiba's Trip did nothing but gain experience and kill some time doing the side missions. Gotta start Super Danganronpa 2 at some point (and start tying up some loose ends up in P3P).

Add Megaman 9 and 10, for sure (easily as good as 2 and 3). Consider removing 8…

But yeah, agreed. That was the one detail they kind of dropped the ball on, which stands in stark contrast to how beautifully everything else connected/wrapped up.

@CCC:
Add Metroid Zero Mission. Remove Other M.
I should mention, that since Zero Mission is a remake, I've included it under the "Metroid" Banner. After beating Metroid I started Zero Mission immediately and just beat Mother Brain in it. I'm at the Zero Suit part now.
Just to say for one minute, Zero Mission is LEAGUES better than the original. I started Super Metroid before I got the idea to go back and play the whole series (Getting Super Metroid from Club Nintendo for free was honestly the impetus of this endeavor that ballooned out to include other series' in Smash Bros. I'd never played lol) but the little bit of Super Metroid I played had me feeling it was LEAGUES better with far more polish than the original Metroid, and I'm talking STRICTLY Gameplay, not graphics. This is understandable, they obviously got better over time.
Zero Mission basically feels like "What if the original game has the same tight polished gameplay as Super Metroid" and I like that.Other M, I've been told, has a garbage story but solid gameplay.
About MM, I'm playing what's on the MM Aniversary and MMX Collections as those are readily available to me without me having to spend money. When I finish up with those, I might grab MM9 and 10, but not having to pay for this retro game spree would be a plus lol.
-
Ehhh I'd say okay gameplay, but ymmv depending on how into Metroid you are I guess
-

Ah, gotcha. …Still say 9 and 10 are worth it! just think of it as spreading that $20 over the 10 (classic) + 6 (X) = 16 awesome games (okay so 5 and X6 are lame but still...).
I personally despised even Other M's gameplay but I guess if you can trick yourself into somehow forgetting that it's a Metroid game, then... Nope. It's still terrible. :(
