Well I guess the rumors of Diseny remastering the first 3 seasons of Power Rangers were true.
Go Go Power Rangers… to Krispy Kreme!
-
-
so the old series is making a comeback. finally somebody did something right by bring the power rangers back.
-
I am shocked as hell that they got Paul Schrier to make a comment in their press release.
Shame that they ran the show into the ground after Dino Thunder ended,,,
-
To me Power Rangers kinda die after Mystic Force to me. I'm enjoying RPM a lot better then Overdrive and Jungle Fury.
Hopefully we get a dvd release of these episodes, since really would like to have Green with Evil and a lot of the classic episodes on dvd and I hope a release of Season 2 really badly (besides Johnny, it have my all time favorite villian, Lord Zedd).
-
This will only be interesting when they re-air the first season with Lord Zedd, when he came in and awesomed up this crappy series, but before parents started bitching about how he was "too evil" for a kids show and pulled that horrendous love potion bullshit…
-
Yeah, I'm really interested how they going to aired the first of half of Season 2 as well. Mostly if they going to air some more violent episodes of Season 2, (mostly talking about Blooms of Doom and couple other early season 2 episodes).
-
I am shocked as hell that they got Paul Schrier to make a comment in their press release.
Well apparently Paul Schrier always loved working on and was really into the show. He even tried to make a Bulk and Skull spinoff show if you can believe it.

110% agreed. Lord Zedd was the best thing to ever happen to Power Rangers. And that theme song. Oh god that wonderful kickass theme song.
-
The Dinozords were the best Zords, I will proudly purchase he new editions of the Dragonzord, Megazord and Titanus so that they might someday do battle with my Perfect Fusion GaoFighGar.

Oh that takes me back. I may very well have to purchase the new Zords. I remember when I was a kid, what was weird is that my Megazord wasn't in color, but it was just completely black with some gold coloring. I have no idea where it came from or how my mom got it. I've since gotten rid of all my zords, but I found the Falcon Zord (from the third season) at a Good Will a few months ago and I just had to buy it for nostalgias sake.

Yes!!!
it might be 16 years later..but uh.. not sure ill watch it again..
I stopped watching after the movie Zords -
Sadly, I never had the zords sadly. If do rerelease the zords, I'll get them. Espically Dragonzord. I had the Lord Zedd figure when I was kid as well the head changing figures of Kim and Tommy (when was the green ranger).
I hope this leads into all the older seasons to get seasons boxset over here. Since the only series that got a complete release over was Operation Overdrive.
And yes, the Lord Zedd theme is always awesome. So was Tenga Bye Bye.

-
Hmm, never heard the Tenga Bye Bye song before. Pretty good. And Shmeckie, have I told you lately that I love you? (platonically of course XD) Anyway, I know everyone's heard it a million times, but the Power Rangers theme song itself was pretty badass, especially the extended version.

I love the extend verison of the MMPR theme song. I love the movie verison of the main theme a lot as well. xD

Seriously, this shit was like an early birthday present. One of the main reasons I never watched Power Rangers as a kid was it's lame-ass villains (that was pretty much my criteria back then: cool bad guys). Then they go and drop this on me!
0:33-0:50. One of the most badass moments in children's television history. There is no debating this, do not even try.
-

To paraphrase the actors who played Bulk/Skull, it would have never worked. There's not enough cakes in the world for them to fall into.
-
Power Rangers continuously got better with ever new season until in Space. Then after Space it got continuously worse until it became nothing but sheer garbage in Wild Force.
-
Bring back Bull & Skull or I don't want shit.
-
@bunshindattebayo:
Bring back Bull & Skull or I don't want shit.
How about if they bring back Bulk & Skull.
-
Goddamn Power Rangers sucked.
I say that as a tremendous former fan.
But when you've gotta series that in its home country, is considered to be for children, then brought over to the States and GUTTED and watered down to the extent that it makes 4Kids One Piece look like fucking Ninja Scroll, it's gotta be Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Now, for a kid, the show is amazing. Changing robots are retarded cool despite what plots surround them. When you've got changing robots based on dinosaurs you might as well expect prepubescent males across the globe to suddenly blow a premature load.
But there's simply no defending the 'dramatic' portion of the show. It was and is crap. Crap that I absolutely adored as a kid and have fond memories of, but I would never, ever want to revist that realm as an adult. It'd be like someone kicking me in the groin saying, "See, this is why you were an outcast until high school."
Think I'll go cry now.
-
I must have been the only kid not to have been obsessed with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
I always thought it was shit.
-
I don't know how anyone can't hate Time Force. Which is pretty much is the best season, since Space.
-
I don't know how anyone can't hate Time Force. Which is pretty much is the best season, since Space.
I think you mean can:/
Time Force was the last good Power Rangers arc before the franchise turned to shit in Wild Force. Still can't hold a candle to the series that preceded it.
-
The most enjoyable for me was Ninja Storm and Lost Galaxy.
-
I really only watched it while Zedd was cool. It never appealed to me outside of that guy.
It'd be like someone kicking me in the groin saying, "See, this is why you were an outcast until high school."

Methinks you might need to tell these things to an older gentleman (or lady) with a notepad while lying on a couch…

That was a special edition Megazord. I ended up getting one for Buzz Lightyear when Toy Story first came out. I played with it a lot and threw it in the air to simulate the movie's flying, and the head broke off…but I ended up having even more fun with the broken toy because it looked like a robot. :X
The original Megazord series is notoriously rare because people played with them so much that despite high durability they usually ended up destroyed. Mint ones are ridiculously expensive, the best we can hope is Bandai makes the new editions with the same resin as the first series so they won't get torn apart from simply falling off a shelf.
I love the extend verison of the MMPR theme song. I love the movie verison of the main theme a lot as well. xD
The extended is actually a remix of the original theme, first used during the second season when Lord Zedd was introduced. I prefer the original, but the extended is OK too.
Think I'll go cry now.
You're an even nastier thread killer than I am.

-Sigh-, be nice if they put that much effort into american villains today.
-
The show is essentially nostalgia but I sort of want to see the original sentai that based it on. The first couple seasons were silly, stopped watching with Zeo, but did come back and thought Time Force was well done and probably the best I've seen of the series. (probably the closest the American series will ever get to a sentai…then again, it was before Saban folded and became part of Disney)
-
I don't know how anyone can't hate Time Force. Which is pretty much is the best season, since Space.
Ummm…. I think you meant can(as in "how can they hate it") instead....
-
Always found it funny how Carranger saves its franchise while, Turbo almost kills it.

I gave up/outgrew the show once its started changing series names every year, I guess near the end of the Zedd era. (After he and Rita got married and she was revealed to have a skeleton brother or something is about when I stopped.)
Of course due to it being aired andlessly I caught snippets or random episdoes over the years like I'm sure everyone else did. (I also suffered through the godawful live action Ninja Turtles series.) Near the end, when they did Dinosaur robots again, I think Fox family was running marathons every weekend or something, and I saw that Tommy, now age 35 or something, had actually returned to the show, and was incredibly amused by the fact that they had fun with it. "Aren't you a little old too be apower ranger?" and jokes about his many costume changes.
So I ended up watching a few episodes of that season, including the 500th episode clip show that recapped the ENTIRE franchise in 22 minutes… they also had an episode where they watched a JAPANESE episode of the show, with its full crazy wackiness intact and the MST3ked it, which was quite a bit of fun.
EDIT: Wikipedia says that season was called "Dino Thunder". And apparently the actor played Tommy was Green, White, Red, and Black rangers over 7 different seasons. Well... its a career.
-
Speaking of Jason David Frank (Tommy), he entering the MMA World is actually really is a matial artist.
A lot of former Power Rangers are doing a lot of stuff now.
Amy Jo (Kimberly) gots her current tv show, Flashpoint which got renewed for a third season and recently give birth to her first child.
Johnny Young Bosch is doing ton of VA work for animation and games.
Jason Narvy (Skull) recently got a PHD in theather.
So its going to be interesting rewatching their really early works before what they become now.
-
Bosch particularly suprised me. I remember when I first heard about him when Trigun was going to air on Adult Swim. I saw him on the cast list as the main character, heard he used to be on Power Rangers, and was all like "ugh… a Power Ranger?! Geez, this is gonna suck.."
The Trigun aired. Then I punched myself in the face for daring to doubt this fantabulous actor. From hamming it up in Power Rangers to being one of the best voice actors in the business. Ain't that some shit?!
-

What?
Bosch?
…......

Yes, Terek, we all know you hate things that are good so that your opinion can look all special and junk. Now go fix your ceiling fan and begone with ye.

Bosch isn't good.
He was a forgettable Power Ranger at best, I know most people have to be reminded that "the Black Ranger" wasn't always played by a black man.
He's a terrible voice actor, though. He has no skill, no enunciation, emotion, and no training. What he does have is an army of MMPR-gone-weeaboo fans to promote him endlessly online.
I don't like Crispin Freeman, but I can at least give him credit for making consistent efforts at becoming more professional, including the pursuit of more education. This is why he's able to break into real commercials and earned that cameo in Howl, and why he doesn't need to star in every anime that comes out of Southern California.
JYB does nothing of the sort and instead revels in his faux celebrity status, which is why he gets all the low paying roles from BZE. His popularity ensures that he gets a lot of those roles, which displaces upcoming actors and pushes away those who bothered to get training.

Ditto on that. I mean, Adam (the Power Ranger) never really stood out for me on the show, he always just seemed rather plain. Needless to say I was shocked to learn that Bosch was the one playing all these awesome anime characters (Vash, Ichigo, Lelouch, etc.)

I stopped reading when you said "no emotion." Then I started laughing.
WARNING: MASSIVE CODE GEASS SPOILERS WITHIN:
! kbS7v68uKQg
Yes, how wooden and without emotion. What next, Terek, is the Cowboy Bebop dub overrated? Is Steven Blum a hack? Is the NY voice pool the best of the four? Was the OP 4Kids dub masterful? C'mon, Terek, make with the zany!
-
CODE GEASS
I snorted.
Yes, how wooden and without emotion.
It sounds like Ichigo giving birth.
What next, Terek, is the Cowboy Bebop dub overrated?
Bebop has a good dub. I can't say the show deserved it.
Is Steven Blum a hack?
Blum is like Freeman, minus the bad attitude. As you would imagine, that's why he's the most successful voice actor outside of anime.
Is the NY voice pool the best of the four?
Canada > New York > Texas > Southern California
Was the OP 4Kids dub masterful?
Nope.
C'mon, Terek, make with the zany!
You're doing a pretty good job without my help.
-
Crispin Freeman has a bad attitude?
-
Bebop has a good dub. I can't say the show deserved it.
You don't like Cowboy Bebop, but you think Haruhi Suzumiya is deep…
...
I love you. You're like human irony. I want to know your life. What does a wacky man like yourself do on a daily basis? Do you walk to the store like the guy at the beginning of the "Ministry of Silly Walks" sketch? Do you randomly break out into song, and suddenly strangers on the street join in on an inexplicably choreographed background dance behind you?
It's like you're so crazy it comes full circle and makes you awesome for it.
-

Eh, they weren't really MST'ing it. It was more like Connor didn't wanna watch a (horribly dubbed) ep of Abaranger because "Et waz japanese!"
-
I always really found Power Rangers to be a bit too cheesy.
I liked the Time Force one, and enjoyed it. But over-all, it was just so cheesy.I mean the effects were bad too. People in Spandex and Gimp-Masks running about.
And they're always so over-dramatic, they can't stand still. A simple 1 step jump and they'd make it look like something from BodyGuard. And the 'beating up the Monsters' scenes were awful, they didn't even connect and when they did the monsters would just fall down, defeated - When one punch/kick is really gonna kill/knock them out ?
And the scenes where the Monsters grew really big -
the effects were pretty bad for that. -
Power Rangers was one of my first obsessions. I'll never forget how pretty much everyone I knew at school would never stop talking about it. I think I started to lose interest in the show after seeing the movie.Looking back on this show, it's definitely one of those things that you realize wasn't as good as you remember it being once you get older. It's nostalgic, I'll give it that, but after seeing the dated special effects and everything, the cheese goes through the roof.
-

Yeah. The Legend of Zelda is kind of dissapointing that way.
-
Yes, Power Rangers was cheesy as hell, but it had (sometimes) cool monsters and martial arts fighting. When you're a kid, that's all you need. Fuck, I watched the show specifically because they brought in a single character, that's the simple-mindedness of childhood!
-
Crispin Freeman has a bad attitude?
ohhhh
i thought he meant Morgan Freeman…cause he's a nice guy
OnT: show was great when i was a kid but looking back its god awful...i still like Ivan Ooze though from the movie...he remains a classy guy, what all villains should aspire to be...
