And as participant of a succession war in which princes have to kill eachother. What would be an acceptable way for him to die?
Woah, the assistants did a fantastic job with the king's room.
I will admit that this chapter did slightly pique my interest about the succession war. Somehow having lesser wall of text & having more pictures help a lot.
Halkburg shooting himself and his 「stand」protecting him remind me of Jotaro.lol
And the fat prince is dead. Finally one more bite the dust.
I liked the earlier Succession War chapters, but this was probably my favorite one yet. Damn good chapter. I hope this is a sign of things to come, because cutting down the walls of text did wonders.
Honestly, that guy might not be dead yet. There is still that thing about how he goes from fat to muscular
We’re not expecting his master-plan to occur anymore, and this is why it will take place
Btw isn't Kakin a democracy right now? Why would one hold a brutal contest in order to determine the strongest ruler if said ruler's power isn't even established through himself?

Democracy is will of the people, and I don't think there's anything that represents the will of the people like a bloodbath deathmatch

It has nothing to do with politic.
The whole succession war ties in with the seed urn (that weird pot that grants the princes their guardian spirit). According to the king, this is a long time tradition in the family. Apparently, the first king created this pot with the purpose of making the country more powerful through a succession war. The whole nen after death thing is probably why the urn could grant the prince power.
The seed urn seem to be based on gu.
Gu was a venom-based poison associated with cultures of south China, particularly Nanyue. The traditional preparation of gu poison involved sealing several venomous creatures (e.g., centipede, snake, scorpion) inside a closed container, where they devoured one another and allegedly concentrated their toxins into a single survivor. Gu was used in black magic practices such as manipulating sexual partners, creating malignant diseases, and causing death. According to Chinese folklore, a gu spirit could transform into various animals, typically a worm, caterpillar, snake, frog, dog, or pig.
The mysterious coffins in chapter 371 also could be the way the 'poison' get concentrated back into the pot thus ensuring the survivor has the strongest guardian spirit. Just speculating here.
Too bad Sale-sale isn't important enough to pull off an "O My ̶R̶u̶b̶b̶e̶r̶ ̶N̶e̶n̶ Nen Beast", or is he?
Well, he was obviously one of the less important of the bunch, but he didn't even manage to cause any sort of trouble like Momoze.

Hunter x Hunter.
Although, I didn't get around to finishing YYH. I lost track of it in the middle of the Chapter Black arc.
Hunter x Hunter. YYH started to feel odd to me when they did the Sensui arc. And then the final arc was just wonky.
What do you guys prefer Hunter X Hunter or Yu Yu Hakusho
YYH. The four leads are more likeable, Genkai is awesome, and the Dark Tournament arc is pure shonen at its best. The rest is pretty forgettable but its fine.
HxH does neat things and some of the genre subversion are interesting, and up through Greed Island is great. But about halfway through the ant arc it was just… eh. And then the hiatuses, the deus ex machinas (super strength Gon, rose bomb, Killua's magic all powerful sister, Pariston just kidding, Hisoka living, etc... can all be justified in-universe but mostly feel like writing cop-outs) and the giant arcs of solid walls of text have just slowly killed it for me. If it had just actually ended after the election arc, or if it had been more continuious in its running like Op is so that it was on chapter 900 and close to actually wrapping things up, rather than just approaching 400, well...
We started the Dark Continent arc in 2012 and are still getting through the setup, 42 chapters laters. Ultimately the breaks just kill the flow and interest too much. I have all the first 32 volumes but haven't bothered with the ones since then.
Honestly, it was cringe-worthy to see how Halkenberg and the others were acting all "yeah motherfucka this is the revolution !" when all they did was passing a door and pointing a gun on the king. It looks more like an assassination attempt than anything else. And then the fat-king went all "do you know the trolley problem ?"
This is the kind of pretentious crap we sometimes get in HxH. At least, say "coup d'état" or just "assassination"– revolution makes it sound like a huge thing and the fact that it comes outta nowhere makes it look even more ridiculous. As for the trolley problem, what he said was basically "lol I'm invincible, you have no choice" but he had to bring up the "trolley enigma"
As for the end of the succession war. It will obviously be something like "haha no I never wanted to be chairman" or "I had a nuke in my butt all along". So I guess no one will survive and someone like Gon will become king. Even though Tserriednich is the new Hisoka, so he can't die I guess
That seems more like you're complaining for the sake of complaining.
The assassination was just a start. He wanted to crash the system and turn it upside down. When it didn't work, he accepted he was going to have to go through with the game if he wants to succeed. Nice double entendre there, btw. ^^
I'm more bothered by what he was planning to do next after he killed the king. Not like things would change for other princes much.
I think the trolley engima suffered from being translated.
What do you guys prefer Hunter X Hunter or Yu Yu Hakusho
There are too many fights in YHH for me
I prefer HxH obviously, but not as a whole. There are just some stuff that I like that you usually don't get to find in other mangas or other pop culture things.

Maybe it was just a start, but when Benjamin's bodyguard woke up from his hangover and was all " oh shit, Revolution?", then it really sounded ridiculous

I guess HxH overall is better quality, or at least a lot more well thought out… but YYH is more precious to me, and doesn't irritate me nearly as much. Also has a muuuuuch better cast, namely in regards to the protagonists. Also I know the hiatuses can't be helped to an extent, but unfortunately it has hampered my enjoyment of the series.
Also if I had to choose between the two on which show I'd like to rewatch one day, YYH would always come first.
YYH has better protagonists, for sure, but as for overall cast gotta give it to HxH. I think even with the hiatuses and occasional sloppy art work, it's the better overall series and maintained a more consistent level of high quality. I can't think of an arc that I don't like, including this current one, even with its issues. Whereas the demon world tournament arc has so much wasted potential.
Someone posted this on reddit a few months ago. What OnePiece would look like if it was written by Togashi

Ahaha omg. That was hard to read even if it was a joke.
The chapter is out. https://readms.net/r/hunter_x_hunter/383/5391/1
Can someone explain the final page to me please?

Real Kachou is dead. The Kachou that survived is actually Kachou's Nen Beast.
Ahhh, thanks. I thought it might have been the Brunette who died.
What is this ghost hand booby trap supposed to be?
What is this ghost hand booby trap supposed to be?
Probably a part of this succession trial. You can't just leave to get out of the battle.
It's the ghost alley, if you look back, the hands draw you to hell.
That was mean, that man died for nothing… Also, I wonder if someone will notice that the nen beast isn´t the prince.
So how is the king gonna put his daughter in one of those sarcophagi ?
Poor Kacho, those dead eyes…
So, Kacho had to die to awaken her nen-beast ? okay I guess
Anyway, I just hope that we'll get to see Tserriednich riding his nen-beast soon enough
I think the implication is that either one of them had to die to awaken their Nen beast. They have two sides of the same power thanks to their bond. I think the real issue is going to come from the fact that, as a Nen beast, only people who use Nen can see her. This is gonna trip Melody up.
Iam reading HxH with half of the cast not fucking knowing at all.
All those guards and stuff, i just read over them without bothering too much, just focusing on those i remember like the princes/princesses and some of the hunters, lol.
The bodyguard who killed himself was only introduced a few chapters back. So, I guess that no one gives a flying fuck about it even though Togashi tried hard to pull up some "urgh, my wife and daughter are dead, I'm going to join them " card
I guess it explains this page that I hadn't understood the slightest shit about then

Of course. The hunter playing music(I forgot his name) made a big deal about how communicating with the Prince by listening to the rhythm of her heartbeat. I'm assuming he'll be the first one to discover that its a nen beast and not the prince.
I really like that there was an actual consequence for trying to leave the war. Its neat, plus a real great way of fooling us was having the old man kill himself for nothing.
Why can't this series just come out on a consistent basis. Damnit.

I get what you mean. But just try to read what they're talking about. It layers the story and creates depth. These characters aren't just fodder. They have agency and can think for themselves. Most of them are on an elite level and I think its awesome that Togashi chooses to show that they aren't just mooks.
Enjoy the story.

Honestly, it became obvious that one of the sisters were gonna die as soon as Melody said that Kacho's nen-beast hadn't appeared yet, and then he wished that the nen-beast would let them escape
At first it was someone trying to shoot themselves in the head at point blank before an invisible spirit catches the bullet and ultimately protecting the host, now it's ghostly hands that kill people.
Jojo aside, I kinda liked this chapter, it progresses the story a lot, and sets up some future plot points, and most importantly it doesn't feel like the prince died for nothing, as all the development and build up she got will payoff with her sister, of course unless Togashi gets bored and end up anticlimactically finishing off their storyline.
So, considering this was a tragic chapter, is this the one that the editor hyped up like crazy few weeks ago? because if that's the case, then what a disappointment, Togashi could definitely surprise us more.

But they ARE mooks. Just look at someone like that dude who just killed himself whose name I can't bother to remember, he's nothing but a throwaway.
He doesn't play an important role, and even if he didn't exist the plot would stay virtually the same. Not just him, many others are in the same position, they do not pose a threat to the beloved main characters, they do not push them for development, and their role is very minor or nonexistent. In all honesty, characters like these are just there to fill in the pages and meaninglessly extend the arc, and even if we isolated the Kakin succession war storyline from the rest of the manga, all who matter are the princes and maybe a couple of hunters who accompany them, but seeing this huge amount of focus on the fodder guards is ridiculous.
I don't even get why Keeni had to kill himself…
I really want to know who won that free-style rap battle.
I don't even get why Keeni had to kill himself…
Someone would have to tale the fall for an attempted escape. If Kakin starts thinking that the HA is meddling in the succession war things would get bad for the HA.
A rouge member is an easy an acceptable scapegoat.

Man ya'll heartless this chapter messed me up man. Its sad and beautiful, and messed up. I want this king dead for this pointless war, he's on my shit list. Could have had 1 kid, if everyone else was thrust into a game where all but one would die. Fuck the Fat Bastard. Looks like kurapika is gonna have to find away out of this because he cant just grab woble and run, and I dont think he wants to kill anyone. Damn this really kicked off the arc more so than the 12th's death.

Dude. Melody is a woman.
I really want to know who won that free-style rap battle.
Same here lol. If the anime was still ongoing I'd look forward to a couple verses lol.
Holy shit! that was dark and sad
Oh no, not Kachou. She was my favorite Prince. …Mostly because the others were either boring, interesting but had little focus, or a baby.
Dude. Melody is a woman.
LOL is it true? I just remember in the anime Kurapika referred to her as a man. So I've always melody is a man.

Yeah from a storytelling perspective maybe giving the red shirts so much screentime isn't a good idea. But I personally like it that Togashi has chosen to give his fodder some personality. Sure compared to the Main characters of the story they are nothing but on the other hand if you compare the Mooks with other in-world civilians/mooks, they are above average.
Eh I don't know its cool but frustrating because it just extends the story, if there were no 5 month long breaks then it wouldn't be a problem but now yeah I agree Togashi should just concentrate on the mains.
The previous time Melody use her flute ability was around chapter 70. That was a long time ago…
Melody is indeed a girl. Kurapika actually made a mistake by saying 'he' but she corrected him in Yorknew arc.
The past 2 chapters have been pretty good despite the focus on characters that I'm not fully invested in. The lack of wall of text helps a lot. The panel with Melody playing the flute was well done.
The situation with the twins was a tragic but I don't really that sad about it. Honestly, I still find the whole succession war to be 'filler' so I don't feel any attachment to any of the princes dying.
The highlight of the chapter was the freestyle rap battle and the rock music performance. lol
Man looks like the only way Kurpika is gonna save Woble is too win the Succession War. Man that's gonna fuck Fuugestu up when she finds out the truth. Wonder how they will retrieve Kacho body? Find it cute that the twins Nen Beasts are just for each other.
