I think MS translation is unnecessary too formal this time. They really took their time thinking of flimsy words for this chapter. I can't believe Nami is sarcastic while having tears in her eyes, for instance.
Chapter 844: Luffy vs. Sanji
-
-
I liked the chapter.
Sanji just bought himself time to then prepare the road for rufy, so he can fight without endangering zeref and his hands.
Imo, he has actually a plan. -
Soo. . .we expected Mr. Prince doing some sneaky stuff.
It seems we expected too much.
Surprisingly disappointed with Oda right now.
Hmm, though, is it possible that there's more sneaky stuff somehow hidden inside his speech? Like, the preparation for starting his actual Mr. Prince thing. And with Nami slapping him, she confirmed that she got it…?
-
Seems like the first page is supposed to be a double page, but for some reason mangastream split it.
Doesn't change the fact that they forgot it.
Still, look at the spoiler picks:

Some panels were not seen this chapter.
Or this one:

I'd say this all goes back to chapter 67-68 when Zeff and the cooks tried to force Sanji away from baratie. Luffy was there to see it all, hence why he gets it and Nami doesn't. Just shows how much of an impact Zeff did make on Sanji, and how hard this is on him..
-
i was hoping Luffy's eye would pop out
-
This arc's gone from an infiltration mission to camping in a yonko territory real quick.
-
luffy wouln't be damaged if kicked without hardening
Didn't Luffy vs Hody teach us that you can still hurt Luffy without haki?
-
This is one of the best chapters of One Piece I've read in a while. Hit me right in the feels.
-
Wow, Luffy on a hunger strike? I never thought I'd hear that at all from one of the people in this series with a near bottomless pit for a stomach. This just shows how powerful Luffy's love for his crew is, especially since Sanji can't turn away from feeding empty bellies.
-
Found it, this page was missing:
-
That is what all the build up amounts to? Year of Sanji, seriously? This is the most disappointed I've been with One Piece in years_._ I had been hoping that Sanji had a plan of sorts, that he would manage to show his handcuffs, pass a message, anything, really. But no, all that idiot can manage is to play by the Vinsmokes' blackmail like he really means it. And Luffy ain't any better: let's forget on a whim about any advantage we might have gained from beating Cracker, and instead stand right in the middle of the bloody island until Big Mom or anyone else comes and gets me. So much for infiltration and fighting back.
On some level I'm aware that I should be entertained by the big showdown, Luffy choosing not to fight back against his friend, and Sanji's emotion. But really, all I feel is anger at so much stupidity.
Good new is, we won't be getting no crying princesses this arc.
We have a bloody crying prince!
What sort of plan do you expect him to have .
There is nothing he can do right now with how things are. -

The artwork was really on point too. Don't get the sense of feeling from just reading spoilers.
-
Now, the question is, will Sanji go back immediately after hearing that from Luffy?

It was all there when I read it and it still is. You probably read the chapter before mangastream fixed the mistakes.

Still not there for me, checked after your post.

Didn't Luffy vs Hody teach us that you can still hurt Luffy without haki?
Well sanji don't use fishman karate or bite him so he had to use haki .
Still it does not have to be hardening . -
Decent chapter - thought the flashback images were effective. Despite the high emotion, the prospect of Luffy on a hunger strike made me laugh.
-
Man, Luffy is one sneaky bastard – he must know that all the Calories he got from eating Cracker will last him MONTHS, which is the only reason he'd threaten Sanji with a hunger strike! :D
But on a more serious note, Sanji currently has 2 problems: Zeff being held hostage and the exploding handcuffs. The first becomes a non-issue if he can defeat his family. Who wants bet his big sister helps out with the latter so he can take care of the former?
-
You lucky Zoro is not there Sanji. So weak this Sanji. Zoro will cut your leg so easly.
-
I wonder if luffys stomach will be the new birdcage, each chapter of him getting skinnier and skinnier. While Sanji races against the clock.
-
@Bartholemew:

Hard to believe, seeing the execution. Oda went for the D R A M A! angle clearly here. Nami almost in tears, Sanji in tears, the violence of the whole conflict. . .Last week people tried to say there's some sort of hidden message in Sanji's speech, but. . .this was so impossibly visceral, maskerading it all as "hidden Mr Prince stuff" could be hardly explained in a satisfactory manner.
If anyone got something that should've been gotten in here, Oda would've at least hinted. And at this point, all the drama he's built would be wasted if he suddenly went on "wait, there was a hidden message, it was all an act!".
I don't know.

Luffy, you're killing me. Could be recent bias but this is his best emotional showing(not counting Ace if you're into the O face)
Can't fucking wait for this scene to be animated.
-
It is similar to Robin's situation, but it's still well done in my eyes. I think how insulting Sanji's dialog is is done the best these past two chapters, it's really biting.
Luffy threatening to go on food strike. Ouch.
This chapter was really good.
-
What sort of plan do you expect him to have .
There is nothing he can do right now with how things are.Honestly, anything would have been better than this. If really there is nothing he can do, then just say it instead of putting up that shitty act. Fight with Luffy if he must, but slip in a word or two. Flail around those bracelets until the other two blockheads notice it. I've always liked Sanji's character precisely because he would make the best of even the worst situations. That's what "Mr Prince" was all about. So seeing him surrender like that to pressure and blackmail is really unwelcome.
Plus, the supposedly big emotional moment stems from choices that completely contradict what both characters were trying to achieve until now (infiltration for Luffy, find a way out for Sanji), so I have an even harder time giving in to any emotion it should give off.
-
Luffy was great in the chapter. Can't say the same about Sanji.
-
If anything I think this chapter complicated an already complicated arc rather than do anything to resolve it.
-
He had to make it look convincing for his own family….
Makes no sense. He was crying and they LOLed at him
-
Again I will ask…
was Sanji using hardening or not?
obviously he was, or Luffy wouldn'd bleed
-
After all this time…? Terrible liar.
-
The most animated Luffy has been since Ace.
Very well executed.
-

You assume that Sanji is planning on coming back :p
-
even sanji's intelligence has its limits…everything happened in literally seconds, he didn't have the time for a plan there,in his mind it was either this or zeff's life.
also he at the moment has no plan either anywayonly problem i have with this is that he has no reason to burn bridges other than for drama....him going to luffy and calmly explaining what is ahappening and then quietly going back to the carriage would have done nothing to threat zeff's life.
that without counting that technically after the marriage sanji is free to rejoin the strawhats as long as they serve under big mom, just like aladdin is married with praline but still a part of the fishmen pirates..of course sanji thinks that luffy is not gonna be ok with that, but there's no reason not to talk about it instead of saying bullshit and then resort to violence.
Straw Hats joining Big Mom means pretty much getting rid of the Pirate King dream, as Big Mom could just restore the Zeff threat if the Straw Hats tried anything funny.
As long as Sanji stayed with the Straw Hats, his problems would be the Straw Hats' problem as well.
-
@O:
obviously he was, or Luffy wouldn'd bleed
I mean black hardening not simple CoA
-
yes, they had already in the past, several times actually
That's always during a comedy routine, though. I question whether in a "serious" fight it may be for keeps. Is Sabo still missing a tooth?

wait, the "infiltration" was in order to meet sanji,so how the hell meeting sanji goes against the plan? they were so "lucky" to find him before he goes into the castle, they would be fools to not try to intercept him now.
as per sanji, whil e i agree that the violence and the charade was not needed, at the moment he has literally no way out of this situation, none, nada, nicht,néant, nulla
-
Really High Impact Chapter I don't even know what to say…

agree 100%
so dissapointed
sanji and nami are two of the smartest crew members and yes the level of stupidity here is incredible.
all these drama is so fake and forced
my eyes are fill with angry tears -
Didn't Luffy vs Hody teach us that you can still hurt Luffy without haki?
you can hurt him without haki if its with something sharp, but not with blunt hits. Or am i wrong?
-
I wonder if Nami saw the cuffs he was wearing and if it might come up sometime when they get to know that he was forced to oblige
-

still a better altrnative that what we saw here
basically explaining how things are would have had no negative effects whatsoever, at worst sanji goes on with the wedding and he is forced to leave the crew with great sadness, at best the mugiwara can figure out something to help sanji having now all the info instead of a charade that no one believed in.
-
Yes I would much rather have Sanji whisper to Luffy what's happening and telling him not to get involved. That's definitely better story writing and would have no repercussions whatsoever!
By fighting Luffy, Sanji pretty much spared everyone he cares about by converting entirely to his family's side…and no, him crying does not immediately undo all of that. Everything is in the best situation it can possibly be.
-

Yeah, Oda went for the drama, but as even Luffy pointed out in-universe it just feels so fake and forced. See that suggestion as a final straw I'm desperately grasping.
-
@xan:
I wonder if Nami saw the cuffs he was wearing and if it might come up sometime when they get to know that he was forced to oblige
indeed, and I know how Namy could make them off
-
Yes, it's fake and forced. But you people are acting like Luffy will listen to logic.

Didn't he do it to avoid suspicion from his family? That's the impression I got.

What does sanji need to explain ?
They already know he force to do what big mom says because she can kill any of his non SH friends at any time.
This problem will always be there unless they beat big mom or stop her from wanting a alliance .
