Chapter 841: To the East Blue
-
LOL.
Goats munching on WhiteBeard's mustache…haha -
Luffy vs. Cracker is still ongoing. What the bloody hell. Did anyone seriously expect that!?
Other than that, the predictable outcome of the flashback has happened. Reiju was the one who helped Sanji escape. And she's gonna turn completely good sometime soon, probably…
-
Absolutely masterful chapter.
It made me feel so many emotions..
I am moved.
-
RIP Sanji's mom. We hardly knew ya. If Oda keeps up this trope I see bleak futures (or pasts) for the other SH mothers. Unless she is evil and/or ugly, then she lives a happy life
-
time to read ….......
-
Loved the chapter. That is all.
-
So Reiju have the superhuman strength and still have her emotions.
-
Really smart strategy on Luffy's part, use and refill!

I know it's a gag but 11 hours is serious overkill for it. But now that where back to the fight it should be ending soon.
-
Sanji's mother, at least we get to see her.
I'm glad Reiju is relatively nice/good compared to the 3 a-holes.
And that last page.
Fight, Eat, run, repeat. Luffy's genius knows no limits.
At least he' won't run outta energy in this battle.
-
Luffy probably stopped fighting seriously as soon as he found out he had an endless supply of food.
-
Damn the Sanji scenes with his sister, and mother hit me right in the feels, chapter was pretty enjoyable, and a nice finish to the flashback, and then we end with Luffy being goofy.
-
This fight literally sucks… Luffy sucks as well. He couldn't do a shit against Cracker in G4 and entire forest with Nami on his side.
-
gomu gomu puke soon as a counter attack by a punch in the belly (a belly anyway is all that is left..) ?
-
So, Reiju actually is "good". I was expecting her to be playing him last chapter.
We didn't get Sanji's mom's name, did we?
-
Is it possible Judge became an asshat when his wife died? That's a very typical scientist turning mad trope in media.
-
sanji mother is as sweet as Reiju
we don't know illness of sanji's mother ? and why jajji doesn't care ? -
The idea of climbing the Red Line was unexpected
-
Been some years since Oda portrayal of female characters started bothering me, and now I realize even the fact that every woman (at least the pretty ones) look exactly the same is troublesome. Just saying 'cause somehow I can tell this whole thing will be what will ultimately lead me to lose interest and drop OP at some point in the future.
Anyways, the cover was really cute.
-
but if normal luffy can't break the biscuit armors with his fists how is he supposed to eat them?
oh well,it's a gag
reiju was a little to clichè in sanji's flashback..jaguar d saul much?@Phoenix:I know it's a gag but 11 hours is serious overkill for it. But now that where back to the fight it should be ending soon.
not really..we had battles between big fishes of the pirate world that lasted days..luffy had to get to that level sooner or later
-
The cover page is hilarious!
-
next cover i expect to see Gol D. Roger
-

not to forget Akainu vs. Aokiji last for 10 days

Judge was always a detestable character since the start, that much is very obvious. But he didn't really provoke too much feeling out of me since it was predictable to see him always acting like a douche and belittling Sanji for being a human. That, and I tend to not be stunned or surprised by serious and dark story tones (especially since they tend to actually captivate me a lot in terms of complexity).
However… That moment where Judge expressed how, despite how inhumane he's always been seen, he's actually capable of expressing compassion and praise towards his children for fulfilling his expectations (not to mention how Sanji hears all of that while he's imprisoned)... Yeah, now I need to see this guy get his ass kicked. Or at least usurped by Ichiji lol.
And for some reason, it's a relief to see Reiju finally express some emotion besides just smiling all the time. She kept looking like a robot or sociopath lol.
-
You know, I almost wish this was all done in one longer flashback, like with Robin. It revealed a lot of things, but there's still plenty of questions unanswered, which means there's going to be at least one more.
Wonder what the deal with Cracker's stamina is. Luffy's stamina shouldn't be that much lower, even if you add in Luffy's exhausting techniques and Cracker being able to spam cookies to keep Luffy busy. Maybe his mom enhanced him with her df soul manipulation or something? Anyway, maybe it's a translation issue?
And damn these chapters. I have almost no cravings for sweets, but every time I read a Totland chapter I want to eat cookies and biscuits.

oh well,it's a gagMaybe he eats the remains he has already broken with his fists. Doubt Cracker can just coat all of his soldiers with Haki.

I actually wonder if he was proud of his sons as a father, or proud of his experiments as a scientist.
-
Nice to see pwngoat's power to haunt dead people in afterlife.
-
Great chapter. It answers a lot of questions but still leaves a few ones unanswered.
I really liked the way they climbed the Red Line. With their ships looking like that, it should have been easy to guess but I didn't.
The previous chapter made me think that his mother was a cook but it doesn't look like so. So, I still wonder what Judge meant by Sanji following his mother's legacy.
I think that there is still a little possibility for his brothers to turn good after this arc is over. Can their lack of empathy caused by their father's experiment be "cured" ? -

Definitely the latter. But Judge is more complex than he seems to be on the surface. Like people have been saying, I can see a flashback focused on Sanji's mother, and perhaps Judge during his earlier days of working with Vegapunk. Besides, it'll be interesting to see how Judge would react to Reiju helping out Sanji, and perhaps incurring the wrath of her brothers.
-
Btw, a mother of perfect humans all sickly and tied to bed?
It's probably a side effect of whatever procedure Judge used to make his children super humans.
-
What I also wonder: can't Cracker manipulate the biscuits Luffy has already eaten?
If Digestion starts in the mouth, then he might not.
And I also guess Cracker cannot imbue many soldiers with CoA at the same time, so eating should be possible.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

That would make her fate all the sadder.
-
nami might be helping luffy out for the battle, she looks tired too!
-
Judge has at the very least a smear of compassion in his black heart. Im still kinda confused about how he treats Sanji. When he was a kid he wanted to disavow him and cut him off the family line. Now that he's back he's all like "no matter how you feel about it, you're still my son!!!" . Is it just a method of degrading by saying what Sanji don't want to hear at the moment, or does he somehow feel regret?
-
I wonder what Nami did during these 11 hours. She must have found the time quite long…
-
Dammit…. Sanji got a 2nd sad past... Damn i was so moved... Sanji's father needs a good spanking from Luffy... I really hope we get some good action from Zoro as well. Luffy said he was full, that's kinda weird :P

I was thinking something similar. Especially since she would be too similar to Usopp's mom if we never got elaboration lol. I'm also interested in why it's seemingly forbidden by Judge for her children to visit her. It probably has to do with Judge feeling some slight insecurity for her predicament and not wanting his children's superiority disparaged with emotional baggage, and probably can't even finish off Sanji due to seeing her in him.
-
Curious, his Sanji's mom the same mother to all the remaining 4 kids?

He says:"You are still my son!", so he can tie himself with BM (by Sanji marrying Pudding). He didn't want to sell any of his other Kids to BM.

Sanji and his brothers were born a quad, so yes. Although we may get some more elaboration on how and why Sanji was born normal.

I don't think there is more to it other than not successful. It's science after all. Win some, lose some. Personally, I don't believe it's not successful though, I think it's only delayed.
-
Was kinda hoping Reiju would be a little more neutral than straight up good. It works either way.
I'm legit surprised Cracker hasn't gone complete insane with his biscuits now being kinda obsolete.
-
Damn, first I was thinking that the wars mentioned in the East Blue could be a war that claimed the lives of Nami's birth parents (when Bellemere found her), buuuut Sanji is only a year older than Nami.
Come to think of it, did Arlong take over Cocoyashi yet in the time framed in this flashback?
-

Of course, and I would have no problem with it not being explained. But that doesn't change how mysterious Sanji's mother is in general.
-
This flashback also showed us that Sanji wasn't always a 1st-class-cook. He learnt cooking and he learnt fighting. Neither of them came out of the blue. That delayed Skeleton-Thing would come out of the blue.
Cause if it could have been activated sumhow (lets say by pushin Sanji too far) it would have been activated by Absalom (saw Nami naked, had the invisible-DF). -

I guess it's either explained by not being successful or if anything we might get a little one-liner like 'After all his lineage factor turned out to be the stronger one by completely resisting all the artificial modifications.'
-
Oh I really loved the scene of the snails with their different expressions climbing the Redline! Some really serious, some kinda scared and some with a mischievous laugh :)

Ew, I could care less for any type of "Sanji was technically stronger in some figurative way the whole time". The possibilities of this working against the themes have me regretting ever considering elaboration on Sanji being a genetic misfit lol.
I recognized the ship form Sanji's first flashback, but didn't remember it being called the Orbit. That's a pretty clever and cool name for a boat, as random as this sounds.
