Am I the only one that thinks if any Mink from Zou was a traitor, their whole sacrifice would have been pointless? There is the '"unaware traitor" as in they have someone's vivre card, and I agree to this if it was Oden's vivre card they took.

I'm not doubting this but I'd like to know where he said it.
He mentioned something like that in "Comickers" back in 1998.
I had a sorcerer in a short story once, but I won't be using that in the series. Any preposterous situations are all created by the devil fruits. That one point is rather supernatural, but everything else is normal.

Evelyn I'm surprised you didn't quit the series when Gaimon and his weird animals were revealed.
As Sandman cited, we've known since forever that most anything magical is the result of a Devil Fruit. Be it from one user manipulating the population to become something strange or by awakening and changing the very landscape or climate.
I hope the previous user of Eneru's lightning fruit had his fruit awakened and thats what causes the constant lightning on that Thunder God island. Just to read your frustration.

I knew that. But as I said, forgive people who aren't craving for this kind of stuff. Not everyone can enjoy this kind of wacky settings, be it created by a devil fruit or not (it doesn't matter anyway).
Like I said previously, Alabasta/Skypiea/Water Seven, the best period of this manga, had a nice mixed stuff of normal and fun settings. The weirdness and goofiness keep increasing since Thriller Bark, and (I think) it hurts the story. As you can see this arc is already very controversed in the discussions.

I dislike Thriller Bark (the ONLY arc I hate) mainly because I just found the Halloween setting boring and uninteresting but this chapter reminded me of that arc but with candy and Alice in Wonderland, and I liked it.

Call me an old man, but when the whole chapter only consists of panels of people constantly freaking out about something, even my beloved Chopper starts pissing me off.
The panels also featured the things that were being freaked out about!

If I agree that the animated inanimated things were certainly created by a devil fruit, I'm not so sure about the edible island. After all there was one with giant eggs or one with giant brocolies
Oh, no, the edible island I could totally see as "the Grand Line is weird like that!". Or that Swallow island being in the shape of a Swallow, or the Boing Archipelago being a giant carnivorous plant, or Gaimon's island featuring crazy mixed animals, or the candy rain we've seen a couple times already in the series. That kind of stuff is the silly stuff Oda loves to do.
A burger talking, walking and singing that once it gets eaten says "oh, I'm delicious, so I'm happy!", yeah, that can't be explained by "oh, the Grand Line is weird like that!".

Nothing more incredulous than an earth island impaled on an inexplicable beanstalk up in the sky.

People saying "this is your typical One Piece adventure and exploring"…no...Alabasta, Skypiea, Water Seven had that stuff and it was good, the golden age of this manga. It was serious and funny at the same time, interesting and creative. This is just...dumb and weird. "I'm buried because I like being burried" wow, Goda. This manga is just getting dumber and dumber, just like his main character. Forgive people who aren't craving for this kind of stuff. One Piece really started getting very wonky and weird at Thriller Bark. But before that it wasn't, even Foxy arc was funny and weird but it wasn't over the top. Oda is really trying too hard to make Big Mom's world all weird and wonky. It can't please everyone.
And this is getting again very repetitive, we've had Dressrosa being very similar to Alabasta and now this is getting very similar to Thriller Bark. It's like Oda is recycling his own arcs with a lower quality. I bet just like Moria's zombies and Dressorosa toys, or Punk Hazard's weirdness, we will learn soon that all these living things are made by a devil fruit user, it's just the same thing over again.

That's just completely insane.Yeah minus the toys which were devil fruit based, the only odd thing about that arc was the tonattas and those were foreshadowed long ago and were generally played straight, aka not too goofy of personalities

I know that was kind of the point of this chapter, but these people lived through the Thriller Bark arc two years ago and saw alot more weird stuff since then. They seem to overreact on anything, aren't they getting older? But I guess I just miss another sane man in the current group.
On another note, for me as a reader, the weird stuff of Oda becomes normal. That's why the joke with the reaction of the others to Nami's surprise fell flat for me. Those hypocrites :getlost:

In seriousness, it has a Marine Base, which is more than what can be talked about the other East Blue Islands. Most of them feature typical rural villages.

The point of all this is for us the reader to soak in and enjoy the scenery and strangeness.

From what we've seen Raftel looks pretty generic. So, for now, I go with Raftel as the most generic place in the OP world.

So far, the most reasonable place, though be careful you might lose of someone brings forth the fact that you can't get to it without knowing the location of 4 other places, also aliens…mofo aliens.

Eh, given my nomation got taken down because of Helmeppo and Sheep Butler I have to say that an unimportant king and kids laughing at burning people is a bit weird. Especially the fact that the king is so….not important in a world filled with monarchy.

Weirdly changing weather, you could argue that it was Dragon, bt we really have not been shown with fool proof clarity have we? Also smoke man that smokes more than one cigar at the time, more like Cray cray.

Windmill Village was generic and dull until Oda revealed the larger Goa Kingdom it belonged to.

So first thought is why has brook been getting so much panel time? He's getting built up for something maybe.
Luffy has a moment of clarity pointing out the relative lack of strangeness there is anymore. Then he gets tricked by his reflection and loses it. Buried man is strange.
The best navigator in the world is in a forest that rearranges itself. Nami might get them out of a really tight spot. Big Mam's main island isn't something you just walk onto, even with the secret path.
This forest is scarier/creepier than thriller bark.

Or the trees just flat out stop you. I think Sanji-pop is the Cheshire cat and someone has the mirror/reflection fruit. I don't want it to be the candy, food poisoning just happened.

I wonder what the limitations of this mirror fruit are. Can this reflection keep up with stuff like gear 4? Can it even keep up with a Yonkou or a beast like Zunisha? If yes, or if we at least don't see a power-wise limitation, my guess is that this battle will be decided by uneven terrain. If the reflection isn't synchron anymore, I guess it'll be toast very fast.

I'd be kind of disappointed if nami was useless without a log pose or compass. She's a top class navigator so she should help them outta there in some way.
navigators still use instruments to navigate,you know that right?it's like saying that you will be disappointed that the best pilot in the world still needs a car to win a race.
she does still need a reference,being that the north given by a compass,an island given by a logpose,the stars in the sky (that aren't there because it's at best afternoon),anything that can give her a direction.
