So uh, I guess we’re still waiting for set 5 on streaming….
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

Either they forgot entirely or they don’t post them anymore. If the latter, no doubt due to the crunchyroll merger. This set should’ve been out on streaming like three weeks ago.
-
Has anyone made the jump to Crunchyroll yet, im still hesistant until they have all of the Funi dubs on there
-
I don't blame you on that. I been using Crunchyroll for years and I'm not a fan with how slowly they been adding stuff. I'm happy in the last couple of weeks that they finally added Claymore and the 2001 version of Fruits Basket. But there still alot of things that still haven't been added yet like the dubs of Dragon Ball Super and One Piece as well some of their classic stuff like Kiddy Grade, Burst Angel, Desert Punk, and Outlaw Star.
-
No One Piece home video release in December.
-
I take it they can't be bothered to upload the next batch of dub episodes to Funimation? Though I suppose they are dealing with the clusterfu** they have caused with Season 3 of Mob Psycho. This monopoly is turning out bad.
-
They’ve always been anti-union. Now that they’ve made a monopoly, it’s the perfect time for the actors to fight back against their anti-union policies. It’ll be good for anime, but yeah, I’m very upset that Mob was caught in the crossfires during this transition art period.
-
Sony/Crunchyroll pretty much got everyone in the industry mad at them. I'm already not too happy with the crunchyroll and rightstuf merging together. I'm really curious how the situation with Bleach will and if it's going to have simuldub now, since crunchyroll did the simulcast during the later half of the series. Since I think Bleach was union dub during the original run of the dub.
-
Bleach has always been property of Viz Media. They have the rights not Crunchyroll.
-
Mob Psycho being recast, has really gutted me. I love the dub of that show so much. Also, Chris Cason told me on twitter, he won't be returning as ADR director, either. At least they got One Piece back on Toonami, though it seems Sony/Crunchyroll have burnt their bridges with WBD now.
-
Yeah, that's pretty much from the sounds of it. From what I understand, Toonami went to Toei to get One Piece back on tv this time around instead of Funimation/Crunchyroll. It's going to be interesting whenever Dragon Ball comes back with a new tv series sooner or later.
-
Yeah, ADR Director and probably most of the actors being retooled for Mob is very upsetting for me, too. It's my favorite still-running anime (besides OP), and I always say it's one of my top five non-OP anime. I think the recast that'll really kill me is Reigen, though. That actor was so perfect for the role; I can't imagine the show without him. Mob's actor was always great, too, but to me it feels easier to emulate Mob's monotone acting than Reigen.
-
Reigen was voiced by Chris Niosi, but he's gone now too. A real shame as he was perfect. Screw Crunchyroll.
-
I feel like Chris Niosi has a much more understandable reason though. Like a world of difference between “has a long history of emotional abuse and manipulation” and “I literally just want you to hear these people out and weigh your options”.
-
@Sano I think any future Dragon Ball series will be the same deal as One Piece, in that Toei handles all distributional affairs for the show (superseding whatever relationship CR has with Toonami and others). Toei loves the prospect of shows being on TV (which is why OP's back there now), so stands to reason future Dragon Ball will go there too, even if CR were to protest.
-
Y’all think the next set will come next week, per usual?
-
Well, here’s the answer to that question.

That’s great, so great.
Now about the Funimation app episodes…
-
Or Crunchyroll needs to get the dub up on their app.
-
I got fed up of waiting so found a "site" I use VPN for Funimation as we don't get the dub streamed here in England. I can't pay for the voyages digitally, but I am up to date on all the home video.
I believe the sales have dropped on the digital Voyages, so they've extended the time period before putting them on Funimation.
-
If this next batch brings us up to episode 866, that means the next few sets should go like this:
867 - 877 (concluding Whole Cake Island)
878 - 889 (post WCI and all of Reverie) or 878 - 891 (post WCI up to entering Wano)
892 - 905? (beginning of Wano)I'm imagining they're gonna want Wano to begin with the new art style and opening, but who knows. Could be beyond their control, sort of like how episode 206 is lumped in with season 4 instead of season 3 for some bizarre reason.
Still really cool to see how far we've come.
-
Really wish Voyage 5 would hit FUNimation already. We're going to be three Voyages behind soon!
-
@MugiMikey We already know that season 13 goes to 891. They tend to save the voyage with the most episodes for last so voyage 8 will most likely ve 867-878 and voyage nine'll be 879-891.

Voyage 5 and 6 seem to now be available on Funimation
-
The episodes say English and Japanese, but the Japanese is still the only option.
Edit: looks like that’s just the app on mobile, computer seems to have them. Had this issue with the last batch of episodes of Black Clover too.
-
I can't even log in to my Funimation account right now to watch these new episodes. UK or US (VPN) sounds like they're having issues.
-
@midod Yay! Awesome. Now I can binge 24 episodes!

Ironic you say that given One Piece is on Netflix and the Dragon Ball IP hasn’t been on Toonami after the tournament of power arc ended in the dub. So not sure what you getting at when Toei Animation is probably helping with the One Piece Live Action allegedly. Saying this as TV might die in a couple of years
-
Anyone else noticed that as soon as you switch to English audio on the new episodes, you can't use any of the on screen buttons? on PC, you have to use the tab key to switch buttons, on mobile, you can't do anything. Weird.
EDIT:
They fixed it.
-
15 years now y'all, and still chugging along!
-
Mother Carmel sounds like Jessica Calvello!
Young Linlin is...very familiar.

Alright, I don’t know whose idea it was to give Nusstorte a Cap’n Crunch voice, but it was an inspired choice.
-
Of course they've failed to put up the new set today, per usual.
-
Why do they even give us dates?
-
"We tell the guy in the uploads department, but he doesn't really own a calendar, so..."
-
Microsoft told me there was an ongoing issue with the distributor that was the same as last month that should be resolved within the next few days but this is getting old, second set in a row that's missed the release date
-
Hah. Good to finally be certain of my obvious assumption that it was Crunchyroll fucking up, per usual. God, with the anti-union stuff (& Mob recasts), I’m hating this company more than ever. Also, they’ve apparently shafted physical releases for OP?
They’ve apparently uploaded the episodes. Interestingly, the eighth set is also listed, though both sets say “0 episodes,” implying that if you buy either, you’ll get nothing.
-
Toei distributes stuff on digital, so its them
-
They don’t have CR upload the files, since it’s their dub?
-
I don't understand why you find that so odd, when stuff is dubbed of their properties toei has direct access to it. You think they just ask CR nicely whenever they want to upload a clip on twitter or youtube or whatever? Anyways, on microsoft pages it will list "networks". For most things they dub and distribute it lists Crunchroll, for one piece it lists toei.
-
Interesting! Hadn't noticed that.
Also, CR is extending their no-credit-for-actors policy. Just watched the new Mob dub. They seemingly only replaced Mob (and maybe the green ghost? Couldn't tell), but they didn't list credits anywhere. No wonder actors are fighting for union rep; they aren't even being credited for their work.
-
Tome was also recast I'm fairly certain. Dimple sounds rather unmistakably the same.
Not having a full cast list is unfortunately not an entirely new thing, although this is the first I'm hearing of it from CR specifically out of toei properties (I think a similar thing happened to DBS after toei took more control over production). Regardless it's utter bullshit. Credit your actors, give them reasonable hours and pay. At the very least have a CONVERSATION seeing how you could reach a compromise that could ultimately even benefit you in the long run. Genuinely disgusting the way they treat their staff, especially since the sony buyout and generally increasing popularity.
Instead, when they get backlash for it they hold back the cast list and try to pretend it never happened.
-
It really opens your eyes that VA's who dub anime is definitely a labor of love because the business behind it is so shady plus the little pay and treatment they get for it is so disgusting
-
If you thought Toei's treatment of One Piece digital release is bad. You need to see Toei's treatment of the U.S. release of Super Sentai and Kamen Rider.
-
It seems most of the episodes are now available on the Microsoft store.
Also, some Film Red cast:
(Not sure why Franky nor Jimbei are listed here...)
-
The actress says she’ll be singing the songs, even though the Crunchyroll post says, “Songs by Ado.”

It looks like voyage eight is being uploaded too!
-
Absolutely curious why Voyage 8 is getting uploaded too but I'm surely not complaining lol, maybe they planned it to drop as an announcement during the panel this weekend
