Kind of weird that almost a week on from the release date of Season 10, Voyage 2 RightStuf has yet to get in any stock. I see that Amazon has stock of it and I am seriously considering cancelling my order and getting it from there. Has anyone ordered this from the FUNimation shop and have they shipped yet?
My order on Funimation hasn’t shipped yet.

Yeah thats really weird, hope they ship soon. Perhaps the digital releases coming out first was a blessing in diguise lol.

I really don't mind physical media delays since it's on streaming. Better to speed it up and risk physical delays than slow it down to account for delays.

Okay I know it sounds kind of insane because he says literally a single word, and I could be wrong, but I *think at least a portion of this set was directed by Joel still. Not because of the directoral quality or anything, that would be impossible to tell from a 30 second trailer, but Luffy sounds quite a bit lighter here…. from his one word in comparison to how he sounds in stampede and the last 2 specials. Id say we pretty much have to finally get through the pre-hiatus material this set though cuz were really starting to near the end of punk hazard. Wonder how obvious the shift will be.

Uh oh. Another Joel conversation. Depends who takes the first batch after Joel. I’ll be excited and nervous to see the new directors’ work. Will be most curious to see if Cesar’s performance will change at all.
Speaking of, Jewel is doing a great job (even though he’s still taking some warming up for me), and I’m really really hoping his laughs go balls-to-the-walls crazy later on.

I always thought the Yeti Cool Brothers were some of the lamest characters in all of One Piece, but I gotta say, the dub has totally changed my mind. These guys are hysterical! I never got their gag in the manga or subs. I thought they were super serious, which came off as lame. But the dub goes all in on the “cool” jokes, and they’re just big goofballs. It’s amazing what the dub can do for your viewing experience that you just can’t get from reading manga or subs

Comedy always works way better for me with the dub. The performances, especially, help the comedy–just comedic timing and phrasing changes so drastically when you can understand the language. I've always just found the dub more entertaining and funny, despite watching over 400 episodes of the subbed, too.

Yeah I can pretty easily agree. I simply don't know how japanese people speak, so I practicly have no frame of reference most of the time.

I totally agree! My wife and I really enjoyed them and I couldn’t remember laughing as much at them in the manga or sub. Very well done!

Funi interestingly made a formal blog post about december preorders this time, no one piece https://www.funimation.com/blog/2020/09/15/funimation-new-home-video-releases-including-violet-evergarden-paranoia-agent-and-akira-4k/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=org-social&utm_campaign=promo&utm. One piece announcements seem to be delayed for whatever reason anyway that Im guessing is some weird agreement with toei, but just thought this was interesting. I would assume they'd want to put out the voyage 4 dvd in december considering the dressrosa statement would confirm at least the end of punk hazard, with maybe dressrosa properly starting digitally late in the month.

I wouldn’t pay any kind to the solicits since we got an official announcement. Even if the DVDs run behind, we’ll at least get PH finished this year on streaming. And they’ll probably announce the DVDs late. I’m willing to bet they just get slowed down by the commissioned cover art they keep talking about.

Okay so I'm going through the latest batch again while making the one pace edit, and Caesar laughs normally once? I thought it mightve just been cuz it was like short, but in the sub its his normal laugh. Weird that it wasnt caught.
The real arlong park was the friends we made along the way

I wouldn't worry, as Zephray said, it's been a theme for them not announcing One Piece voyages since the restart - it likely is to do with the art, but it could also be Toei insisting on the episodes going to digital sale before the DVD pre orders are live.

I mentioned myself that these dvd listings are usually going up later, really I was more so noting that at this point it seems more like a deliberate decision than some weird mistake. I still really don't understand the cover art thing, its always been a thing so I dont know why its treated as special now. I doubt any delays would be directly related to that anymore anyways, they're animating the anime from home at this point.

Were all the covers always commissioned? I got the sense they often used previously made art, or they sometimes compiled covers using multiple stock images.

It wasn't unheard of for stock images to be reused or edited, but as far as. I can tell no cover is entirely made up of pre-existing images. They've always had to commission new art

How can you tell what is commissioned and what is stock simply by looking at it? People can grab stock images and arrange them in ways that make them look like commissioned art. There are endless "stock" images for OP, so it's not like you can recognize every one. Some are even pulled from within the episodes.
I'm not saying you're wrong. It might be that most or all of the images before were individually commissioned exclusively for the Funi DVDs, but I don't know how anyone could know with any certainty.

You see this is why as I said "as far as I can tell", because of course I cant be 100% sure, but like every cover I've seen has had something that looks to specific to be pre-existing to me. Season 9 voyage 1 is an exception though, I'm pretty sure that piece was entirely premade for promotion once the anime got to the timeskip

Only two more weeks until the next batch of episodes! Can’t wait to hear Momo and that Doflamingo family episode. Hoping they announce an official date for set four soon—so I can plan my rationing of set three.

Yo I didn't know she plays Viola lol I kinda skipped through the Sabo special to watch certain moments with Vic as Sabo at the time that's cool that's why I also suggested Cassandra Lee Morris she's played characters like Carrot before she would be a nice match imo. But yeah I'm asking just to get some thoughts thrown around just in case anyone from Funimation is lurking in this thread lol

I’ve never been a Carrot fan, so personally I don’t really care about who plays her. She shouldn’t be a hard cast.
Still real happy they nailed BM. Hopefully they get through WCI before that actress dies suddenly or retires.

I love her a lot but I feel like she'll be recast. She's 70 and its gonna take about 4 years to get to wano, where she is still relevant, and one piece in particular is a very high energy screamy show so I just have a hard time imagining a woman in her mid 70's getting through it, would love to be wrong though.

In the past the sets have went up on the 20th for smaller retailers, so it looks like we probably won't be getting a voyage 4 dvd in December. Although sometimes they're reported on later in the day so its possible it didn't go up yet, or just that funi finally got on them about the premature listings.

Honestly I have like no idea who they would recast her as, it seems they have a very limited pool of elderly females the work with. Juli Erickson played like 3 or 4 before she retired, and now Pam Dougherty is Tsuru on top of playing big mom.

They’ll just get a 40-50 yo to age up their voice. As we talked about before, Funimation doesn’t stick to appropriate ages when they cast.
I know it was only one appearance, but she seems so damn perfect for BM. One of the best dub fits they’ve found. Up there with Law, Kizaru, and Jinbei.

I mean of course you don't actually have to get someone who is super duper old, but it seems even then they don't have a ton of options that I can think of. I trust the one piece directors casting wise though and they surely know the pool they can work with and what they're capable of better than I, really I love how unpredictable its castings can be at times.

I was just saying in case like you got days mixed up or something lol. I promise I'm not that nit pickey otherwise. However just so were clear, at the time of posting this message we are 9 days, 7 hours, 42 minutes, and 20 seconds from October 6th. Unfortunately we do not have an exact time they will go up, but thats the approximate estimate. I spend every single nanosecond of my time counting down as to be as precise as possible.

Glad the 2nd wave of cast announcements has started finally. It would be nice if they could announce the ones for the next set too considering its a week away but I doubt it. Now that I think about it do they even have enough for another tweet from voyage 2? Theres Yarisugi…. and uh oh yeah they haven't told us who plays konbu, mightve not talked in voyage 1. Thats about all I can think of
