Chapter 817: Raizou Of The Mist
-
We naruto now….
-
Raizou's design is simply fantastic.
-
Raizou for nakama. <3
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Do you think Kanjuro has this crest as well?
-
I love how even Zoro and Law join in on the ninja fanboyism
-
I'm more interested about Raizou's forehead birthmark. Reminds me of this old drama series about Bao Zheng.
-
Goodness, Raizou is such a great guy.
-
Good chapter and I really like Raizou's design.
Makes him pretty unique. :)
I wonder what the red poneglyph says… -

I don't think so since he didn't mention it during this chapter where we were given true introductions.
Speaking of introductions, I think everyone called the Momo reveal lol.
This chapter was nice. I was definitely not expecting a poneglyph. But it makes sense I suppose. A lot of the older countries swen to have one..But Zou was 700 years old right? Does that match the time line of the others? Or does the color possibly indicate some more special?

I think it's over a 1000 years old
-
I thought the Momono Dukedom was called that because it was a vassal state to the Ancient Kingdom, turns out, it's to Wano.
-
Raizou not for Nakama. There I said it. Design is funny, but only little by little. I do not want to see that face for the rest of the series.
Also blood red poneglyph: What does it say? Tune in next week.
And last but not least: Captain Jack. Why you not dead? Marines aren't capable of crap nowadays.
-
@S.C.:

If I remember the One Piece Podcast right, it was also a tongue twister if you use the Japanese word (Mokomo Kokoku I think?)
-
It will be interesting to see what Jack plans now and why Raizou is so important
-
I think it's over a 1000 years old
Was it? I couldn't remember. If it's a 1000 that definitely qualifies it for carrying the stone then.
-
I was hesitating whether Zou would contain a Poneglyph, as I couldn't imagine them putting one on a living creature that might one day die and sink. I know the elephant is 1000 years old, but we don't know the extent of their lifespan and abilities. Perhaps it's about to die, perhaps it can live forever; who knows?
Anyways, definitely very exciting to see a Poneglyph there. Since the one on Skypiea simply pointed toward the one in FI and the latter contained real info, I'm thinking perhaps this one will point to a tablet of truth in Wano or Elbaf? Or maybe it's something entirely different, seeing as how it is red. We'll have to see. Definitely excited!
So Inu and Neko remember Roger, that is nice. Momo hinted to have the voice of all things; that is interesting. Not sure what "voice" he was referring to; the whale might be alive or it might not be. It could very well be Zunesha's voice, it makes sense that that would get louder as they get closer to its head. We should be seeing that coming back soon.
The crescent moon scar makes me feel like the moon will definitely play a big role soon. Hoping it will, I have been curious to the role of the moon for a long time now - beyond Enel being there.
-
How come the name went from Kougetsu to being Kouzuki? Is that mangastream's mistranslation or the word has been changed in japanese?
-
"HIT THE BRAKES!!"
Yes, I fucking lost it.
-
Raizous introduction was pretty funny.
However, I hope next chapter we get some more exposition. Lets have some more characters talking about Samurai stuff, and Kaidou stuff and poneglyph stuff for a few more weeks, then lets have a few more weeks planning the departure to go get Sanji. The important thing is to have more people continuing to impart information, and namedropping things.
-
Luffy was able to hear the voice of the Sea Kings and this is the first time in canon he's been near a Poneglyph, i wonder if he will hear it too?
I'm so excited for the next chapter, we will finally learn what that Poneglyph is all about. Hopefully some interesting history….
-
So it's Kouzuki Clan now?
-
So what will be the revelation of the poneglyph this time ? And the spoiler suggest the voice comes from it but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was thinking Momo could hear the elephant thoughts instead.
And we have another flashback in perspective but we probably won't have it till Wano arc. -
A new type of poneglyph… can't wait to know what it says and what that voice Momo could hear was.
Law likes clone jutsu eh?
-
raizu of the mist, is he family of shiryu of the rain?
-
Is it just me, or Raizou´s hair looks just like Gedatsu´s?
-
Thanks, Kishido.
Awesome chapter, great fun.
Momonosuke is confirmed as the son of an important Wano personage (and maybe will stop getting name-checked in the next nakama thread), now we only need to find out the secret of his power.
FINALLY we see Raizo and he doesn't disappoint. He's fun but, considering the shock I got when eventually seeing Kanjuro on screen, kinda dreading to see what he's going to look like in full colour. Wondering if he also uses a devil fruit he considers inconsequential like the other Wano swordsmen.
Apart from Big Mom's full look, Vegapunk and Sanji's family are there any other major named characters that are yet to appear on the page? -
Is it just me, or Raizou´s hair looks just like Gedatsu´s?
It looks the same but Raizou has a big head to go with it he must be skilled to hide with such a big head lol.
-
Not a fan of Raizou design. It is simply way too much.
How come the name went from Kougetsu to being Kouzuki? Is that mangastream's mistranslation or the word has been changed in japanese?
The kanjis are still the same, but Oda changed the reading.
-
"There was another who said much the same", " Indeed, i too remember him" Could they be talking about Roger?
-
MWhat a goofy design lol, I kinda wanted him to be less goofy than Kanjuro, but Oda went further haha, the interactions were pretty funny , I'm really interested in the poneglyph, we were all expecting one I guess, damn thats like 3 Poneglyphs we have seen since the timeskip, seems there are more poneglyph in the New World than in Paradise.
Oh Jack is definetly dead right? right?
So what is Raizou? some kind of new race or just a dude with a giant head?
"There was another who said much the same", " Indeed, i too remember him" Could they be talking about Roger?
The phrase seems strangely worded, but I assume it is Roger.
-
Man that Film Gold poster looks Beast…....HUNDRED BEAST!Well Jack being alive came as a shock to ABSOLUTELY NOBODY ANYWHERE!What did come as a shock was Raizo......Damn! His abilities are legit, but I symphatize with the ladies here; would you wanna get in bed with a THAT naked.
Then again, Big Mom would be even worse; if she really does have biological children, who the hell tapped that.....or was artifical using the Mother of All Turkey Basters and-....Whoa, there's thoughts you could have done without XD
-
Well Kinemon and Momonosuke aren't father and son, but they are indeed of the same clan. So Kinemon is probably still family with Momo. I guess his 2nd or 3rd degree uncle
-

Probably.. Zou parallels pretty well with Skypia.

How come? Kinemon is just a retainer of Momo's family..

He was close to the one that Crocodile took robin to since he had his fight with crocodile right near it.
-
So apparently the biggest Naruto fanboy in One Piece is Law lol
Loved Raizou's design and his general shenanigans.
So Neko and Inu remember Roger from some point in the past?
Interesting.
I'm thinking since this newest poneglyph is red and we've already has directions and general messages…perhaps a warning of some kind?
-
many people already hypotesized that momonosuke was the son of the daimyo..although this doesn't really match with some interactions between him and kinemon, thsat looked genuinely like father and son..like when he dressed him in a kimono..but i guess it makes sense
very curious about this new red poneglyph
raizou is the typical oda character..but he seems to have some real ninja skills
-
i hate momonosuke so much
-
This chapter is probably the best one this year, I love this ninja!!
-
Haven't laughed this much from a OP chapter in a long time
-
love franky's hair in the poster. sanji seems to have a longer hair in the poster as well.
-
Chapter was hilarious. Lol at Luffy not giving to shits about Mom's status. Lol atl Nami trying to exploit him.
-

alabasta was pretty canon
-
That Ninja stuff was some of the funniest stuff I've read from One Piece. Especially Law coming in with "Some clone jutsu would be nice."

Who and why is feeling terrible?
http://readms.com/r/one_piece/817/3248/14
What are they talking about here?
-
yes raizou, don't like the design but he's cool so far. even Law have interest on ninja…...
Nami nick name should be change really................ lol ( gold digger demon witch or something :ninja: )
-
alabasta was pretty canon
Yeah right, i forgot he was in the tomb fighting Crocodile. Though maybe at that time his abilities hadn't really awakened yet - perhaps it has to do with haki or something…
raizu of the mist, is he family of shiryu of the rain?
I'm starting to wonder that too. Kinemon has a title "Fox Fire", Kanjuro is "Evening shower" or something, Raizo of the Mist, and of course Shiliew of the Rain - Shiliew clearly got that title from somewhere, perhaps he's from Wano Kingdom too?
-
Raizou for Strawhat!!! Silence anyone who says otherwise!
Raizou screams Oda. Not much else to say.
-
My mind was absolutely blown by this chapter.
That Momonosuke wasn't Kinemon's son I could NEVER have been able to foresee. The level of trust and love they have for eachother could easily be exchangable for a father-son relationship. I can't help but wonder what Momo's father is like then, I would assume that they are not nearly on as good terms. But after the minks revealing last chapter that they hid Raizou I was certainly not ready for a mindblowing, plottwist off this sort.
Add to that, Momo is the son off a lord! Already there I was next to satisfied with the chapter. But what came after just made it even better and better. Inu and Neko concluding their conflict was definetly brilliant. I wouldn't be able to stomache much more off their animosity and a deep, convoluted explanation for their conflict. The poneglyph part and the role Momo plays with them, is intriguing to say the least. And then of course, Raizou. Man, this character is already established as brilliant. 30/10 stars.

Momonosuke. He is feeling ill since he stepped on Zou.
-
Jack also has title "the Draught". Is he also from Wano ? Don't think so.
