Chapter 813: An Invitation to the Tea Party
-
Awesome! Off to read, hope Panda doesn't screw up too much.
Interesting reads, lots of interesting details here, but I'll wait for others to read first :ninja:
-
Wow, I got in real early by accident! It sounds like there's a pretty big player batting for Sanji not to be killed, and it ain't Big Mam. I don't think Sanji comes from a Celestial Dragon line (the way they talk about the Vinsmokes, they're powerful but not Celestial Dragon-powerful), but it would have to be someone very high up in the Marines or World Government to scare people into leaving him alive like that. Colour me intrigued!
It's just like Sanji to sacrifice himself for the others (especially Nami), so I'm not surprised that he sent them out like that (Mr Prince thinking fast yet again - leaving behind Ceasar means they're more likely to just let the others go). Gotta give him that - his ability to think quick on his feet is one of his most useful skills. I'm so interested in this arc already!
-
Awwwwwesome… Cant wait to find out Sanji's history and his family
-
Ah, so when Brook said Sanji wasn't coming back, he meant that Sanji would go to Big Mom no matter what, not that "he will never come back".
-
Well, kind of an uneventful chapter with lots of exposition, but at the same time it still doesn't explain anything.
Brook knows the Vinsmoke family. Couldn't he say more about that? But I guess next chapter will exactly be that: Luffy will be asking "Who is the Vinsmoke family" and brook will answer it.
Also: now I see, why capone leads the firetank pirates XD
-
Flashback is over? I wonder which way we are going next. Following Sanji or will we stay with the SH and their dealing with minks and samurai problems.
-
Nice! Going to read right now, Thanks!
-
No idea yet how the actual translation quality is.
But the english proofreading is better than usual for them. I'm impressed!
-

I hope we follow Sanji. I don't really care about the Samurai problem right now, because I'm too intrigued about Big Mom, Pudding, the Vinsmoke family, the repercussions of Bege backstabbing Pekoms and Sanji meeting up with Jimbei to create the true Swirley Hat Pirates: Sanji, Jimbei, Wadatsumi, Caesar and Pudding
Also: is it now confirmed that Pekoms was left behind?
-
Great! The year of Sanji has begun
-
Great chapter. Who are the Vinesmokes. After this week the CD theory is dead i think. The Vinesmokes most likely are the dominant family in north blue. Part of the north blue darkness.
What did Capones consultant (consiglieri) say to Sanji?( Veto, Vito, Wiht?) Very nice that the Mafia theme continues. The Don (Capone) doesnt do the explaining but his consiglieri does.I made my predicition what Sanjis backstory might involve. I think Oda will make the whole underworld Broker Cp stuff part of the Sanji arc. It will be epic. Once again Sanji showed that he is much smarter than Zorro in regards to strategy , tactics and quickness. Most people would bank on Zorro in a fight between them because he is a beast only second to Luffy but Sanji is smarter in so many ways. At the End of the day it would be a pretty open fight i think.
Next week will give us more info. Capone seems more powerfull from week to week. Cant wait for the storyline on Zou and on BMs ship to continue. What about Pekoms? Will he stay with the strawhats? Wizard of Oz(scaredy lion) anyone?
-
Ah, so we finally find out what's in that note! I love how specific it was XD, but at the same time, it sounds exactly like something Sanji would say. No wonder Luffy and Zoro weren't worried at all.
Also couldn't help but smile at the part where Sanji said Luffy's the guy who's gonna be Pirate King. Reminded me of Zoro back on Thriller Bark.
-
Also: is it now confirmed that Pekoms was left behind?
Yeah I think so, Capone left without him, so unless he somehow healed himself and ran after him, he's still on Zou

I agree there was still a lot that was merely set-up as there is still a lot of mystery (who are the Vinsmoke family? Who is behind this whole marriage and Sanji's wanted poster?) but the events of this chapter themselves already had me on the edge of my seat. I loved it. Stuff's getting real good.

The panel where the charmeleon looking dude said: Even God Would have to show up at her party if she wanted.. aint he talking about Enel???
-
Great chapter!
Looks like Sanji knows what is going on… and he wants to finish it by himself.
I hope a great arc is coming! -

Actually, Sanji says exactly the same thing in the raw, syllable by syllable. Which makes me wonder whether every Strawhat will say it at some point in the story.

Well, we already have a man of straw (Luffy) and a tin man (Franky)
Sanji can be the girl with magical shoes, and Big Mom the witch. -

Nah it's just meant to show how important Big Mam is, even a deity wouldn't ignore her

I hope Big Mom ends up being a villain through and through. No crappy alliance with her. I want to see her being all destructive and destroy everything and everyone standing in her way. And she should be taken down by force. No mercy just because she is a woman (I look at you Zoro vs Monet).

Not really, it's just a phrase. Thou, it's highly possible it's a foreshadow for him crash the party.

Okay, so my guess is that the flashback is over and it wrapped up basically like I figured it would, minus some details. I think it makes sense that Oda didn't cram in the explanation of the family itself, it will probably be revealed in a bit more detail next chapter.
But honest to god, I have no idea how Oda will write the coming 2-3 chapters. I don't see how he would work in a proper closure into Zou at this point. Naturally, the Strawhats will have to meet Nekomamushi, but that's basically the only plot point that has to be resolved. The samurais could go either way. Either they climb the elephant again or they just stay on the boat. My guess is that Oda will try and find some way to introduce a conflict between the strawhats and the minks, which will lead to Luffy doing some Klingon promotion between him and the dukes and then that's about it.

But, but we just met all these cute and awesome minks T_T
Then again Sanji is more important and actually Law can deal with negotiations on Zou. He is there around anyway.
-
Sanja is gone for good this time. Brook rightly said he wont be coming back and I hope he doesn't come back to the crew he has no place in the crew anymore by being fodderized by fodder Capone fodder Bege which he should be easily able to dispose of after timeskip.
Strawhat's dont need such a weak Crewmate. Sanji power level is only half Cavendish which is just not good enough. Strawhats should just ignore him and move on towards defeating Kaido. Good riddance.

OMG? are you okay dude? why all this hate.
Sanji's going to come back and kiss your ass. -

I hope so. I feel like Usopp at least has said something like that before, but I don't remember if it was exactly the same down to the syllable.
Also gotta love how Zoro and Sanji are different in most ways and fight all the time, but when it comes to Luffy and their loyalty to him, they're the same. The fact that Sanji's line was exactly the same as Zoro's is a nice way of showing that.
-

Sanji's going to come back and kiss your ass.He is joking. Everyone who uses the power level term Cavendish is joking.

Brook said that the name Vinsmock bring chills down his spine. So he probably knows about them. Vinsmock could be a mafia family that has been active for decades, or someone really powerful in the navy in the past. LIke a former admiral or some sort.

One of Gorosei might be Vinsmoke. I don't know, doubt there are too many people from outside the marines or WG who can change wanted posters how they like it. Then again one of them wanting to marry his son into a pirate family… Don't really see it.
I think this might be some kind of manga record, to how many times a same person is mentioned without revealing who it is. It was a little annoying.
-

Sanji can be the girl with magical shoes, and Big Mom the witch.Nice :) I have a few theories about this whole, how does the wizard of Oz fit into One Piece. Emerald City and so on? Sanji has red feet/shoes when he is on fire :) Big Mom has the whole Witch theme pretty clear from my POV. So if she is the wicked witch of the west than Vegapunk might be the wizard. I dont know enough of that.
I really like the direction One Piece is taking after Dressrosa. The whole underworld set up, Zou, Ancient history, Burgess being at Baltigo, Revolutionary meeting, Grand Fleet and so on.
Capone fits perfectly into this whole theme. I have to give it to Oda once again. He is writing the best manga that is out there from my POV. At least the most complete in the sense of story, humor, character development and so on. Maybe there are some that are better in certain categories i mentioned but overall One Piece is the best.
This arc proves it once again.

There is a lingering threat in this arc from the very beginning though, which might only get in the spotlight when the samurai have climbed up: Why did Bariete, the ape, fall down the elephant? If Oda does not make the character just very clumsy, this will need an explanation…maybe someone is still on the island.
-
This Vito reminds me of that colorful Chameleon guy Oda has drawn once. Maybe he isn't bad after all when
Sanji chaged his mind after Vito talked to him.EDIT: Vito has huge Hands. This tells a lot about his genitals! :ninja:
-
Now I'm pretty sure the Vismokes are criminals. And now that I think about it… even from last week's chapter, it wouldn't make much sense for a member of a royal family to marry a member from a pirate family. So now the question is what kind of criminals the Vinsmokes are? Pirates? Not likely... Mobsters? Maybe.
-
Two details I liked that haven't been mentioned yet:
I like that Bege is able to control the inside of his castle body similarly to Pica. It was actually something I'd wondered about.
Also, they brought up the issue with having to cross the Red Line to get from North to East Blue. Something fans have noted for a long time, if I'm not mistaken.
-
Well, kind of an uneventful chapter with lots of exposition, but at the same time it still doesn't explain anything.
Well this is typically Oda style. He let us speculate a lot. At least it is confirmed that it is the same person who is behind the bounty and the wedding and he is from (or strongly related) to the family Vinsmoke

(…)IDK, BigMom with her tea Party Thing reminds me more of the tale ALICE IN WONDERLAND.

Perhaps, although I read that scene as Vito threatening Sanji in some way.

Maybe Royals who commit crime. Normal Mobster aren't able to Change a bounty like Sanji's.

I like that and I'm not sure what to think of him turning his lower part into caterpillar tracks. That goes way outside what castles are capable of. Besides, he would be a lot faster on normal wheels. :ninja:
-
Here's a question, is Big Mom arranging this marriage to link to the Vinsmokes, or is it simply a way to bring Luffy to heel after his insults toward her.
She strikes me as petty enough to do it mainly over Luffy offending her with the Vinsmoke thing being a bonus.
-
Nice design of that Vito. We really needed more cool Firetank Pirates.
That castle tank ability btw, what the fuck :P -

Who knows. Maybe with a right amount of money…
Besides, for all we know, WG might have several illegal sources of income. For example, it was strongly alluded WG had a cut out of Dofla's slave trade on Shabondy. Who's to say they aren't making money on similar deals around the world.
And then an important "business partner" asks for a little favor.
-
MS for people who are interested ^__^

It isn't necessarily a Gorosei, maybe the Vinsmocks really are a powerful North Blue mafia clan, like some people have mentioned. And why wouldn't they marry into a pirate family? It's a Yonko family, nothing less. It wouldn't serve to form an alliance with Big Mom, but rather something akin to a peace/cease-fire treaty. And it really fits the whole mafia theme with having 2 children marry as a sign of peace and to uphold a status quo.
-
I dont know if someone has pointed this out but this pirate consultant Whit or Veto or whatever his name is has a tongue that looks amazingly similar to Caribous. I wonder if there is any connection between them
-

That's a good Point there, but on the othr Hand we already had enough examples of "not as good Kings as Riku & co": Wapol was a morally bad king, as well as the king of Goa KD and so on. Both Points are pretty plausible right now and even though Wapol was kicked outta Drum, he got elected to be king again by the WG for his "deeds" in another kingdom, maybe the Vinsmokes were selected by the WG the same way.
-
Good Chapter enjoyed it, seems like Sanji's family has been making trouble even while Brook was in his prime. Since his family is infamous it would seem thats what gave him the additional 100 Million increase on his bounty. Also on the card if you look closely there seems to be a clown, Buggy might be at the Tea Party as well..Very interesting.
-
Maybe Senor Pink was the 1st son of the Vinsmokes. He HAS to be related to Sanji somehow.
-
Also liked the callback to Jaya when Sanji told them he's from North Blue. I wonder if Law and/or the Heart Pirates will have some useful info/knowledge about the Vinsmokes since they're also from North Blue.
