I won't do it … i won't do the Genocide-run ... i just can't do it ...
! … after watching the battle against Sans! XD I'm definitely not determined enough for THAT!!!
Second genocide run was way harder, emotionally…somehow. First was just for completionydetermiwhatever, but the second... It's like...why? WHY?
...Because I want instant access to final battle at any time.

Honestly though. This game is astounding I've been watching Uncle Joble's stream of it via the fullsauce channel.
I'll post it here, It's definitely worth a watch.

! where are the knives?
At..at least Papyrus still…still has his head...
And they know me...they don't remember exactly, but Papyrus said he knew me...
sobs in corner

I'm currently having a wonderful time vicariously re-experiencing Undertale for the very first time by watching other people do so.
Although I'm having a significantly less good time discovering that I evidently absolutely cannot stand people reading every line of text out loud in games like these. Is that really such a common thing?
I actually like some streamer's reads on characters. It really depends on who it is. Some folks have much stronger personality than others.
Weird, short interview with Toby where he skips half the questions (and rightly so, honestly):

Most interesting yet "duhhh" factoid is that he really like Ghost Trick.
Yeah, that reviewer should have really asked some of the more important and hard-hitting questions.

[hide]Heck yeah![/hide][/hide]
The fanbase has been amazing.

One of the best youtube comments I've seen in a while:
I discovered this game because I saw porn of it, the fuck are Youtubers and journalists doing that porn artists are doing a better job than them.
Game Informer interview with Toby:
He doesn't like grinding or fetch quests. Makes sense!
…So I guess he doesn't like playing Genocide runs...
Also a fan of Mario and Luigi: SSS because of the interactive battle system.
@CCC:
Whoa. Tell him to merchandise the fuck out of this game, please.
Turns to camera
! one cool thing i will say is my boyfriends gonna be makin one of the shirts probably unless ______ shoves him around shovel knight merch forever and he doesnt have time
I'm hoping plushies are a thing because a LOT of people seemed to want them according to some fan poll.

Awesome. You've got me hyped for this shirt haha.
…Also I was one of those people who voted for plushies on the subreddit poll, among other things.
So, in today's "Random details I keep discovering about the game" (spoilers in case someone that hasn't played is reading this, although it's not any big plot point or anything like that):
! I'm watching yet another Let's Play of the game, and they're currently in Alphys' room in her lab. She has a sheet on a table about halfway down her room, where the left half has some pictures, and the right is illegible scrawling. I happened to pause the video with that on the screen, and looking more closely at it, the pictures appear to be a heart, with an arrow pointing from it to what looks an awful lot like a phone lying on its side, while beneath the heart is another heart with its tip pointing up. I am fairly certain those are the blueprints for her phone upgrade that lets your heart shoot at Mettaton. I love this game.
Eh. I think i screwed up big time or something, or i'm getting massively trolled here. If it helps this is my first playthrough?
! So i think i worked my way to the neutral ending? (accidentally killed goat mum, spared papyrus, undyne and mettaton….and had a half-kill ratio of normal enemies till i stopped killing them) and then fought asgore. I spared him but the goddamm stupid flower killed him and now i'm trapped in an eternal of getting killed by that stupid thing even when i reload. Did i do something wrong…cause this is the most i've ever been trolled out of a game.
! But holy shit that final form. Like what on earth is that shit
Eh. I think i screwed up big time or something, or i'm getting massively trolled here. If it helps this is my first playthrough?
! Yeah if you killed anyone then you're not getting a better ending.
Omega Flowey is the endgame of the Neutral Path, and once you beat him (it's not unwinnable by any means), you can get one of several endings depending on who you befriended: http://undertale.wikia.com/wiki/Neutral_Route

! That shit?! I really can't see any way of beating that nonsense…like holy shit that dude throws everything at you and the funniest/worst part is that i only dealt 1 damage. Is there any way to cheese it...or a proper strategy?

! The game wants you to win at that point (his attacks seem to do minimal damage once you're low on HP). And the damage you're doing (aka nothing) doesn't actually matter. The waves of stars are admittedly bullshit, but the vines, insects, missiles, and ring attacks aren't bad once you get the hang. Anyway, just keep dodging until…something different happens...six times. With each time giving you a chance to heal (green versions of things are your friends).
Don't want to spoil things, but if you're having trouble, watching a video of the battle might help?
! EDIT: I don't recall if HP/battle effects work normally in that fight, but the book weapon (extended invulnerability period) might help? Armor should probably be the Heart Locket found in Asgore's house, though

! Oh ok! I fear that i was trapped in some kind of extreme joke where i had to re-install the game. Also seeing asgore killed off and getting a forced reboot from the game…made me feel helpless in so many ways. The music definitely had a part in that too. I'm filled with determination! Thanks ccc!
! EDIT: I DID IT WOOP you're right through! The game becomes much more lenient when you have very little hp, i don't think you really need much
wow that was amazing definitely rushing off for my next playthrough! I got a rather lame one since i didn't take enough time to mingle with everyone (undyne takes over the underground, papyrus becomes jester) but i definitely either want to go for pacifist or a through walkthrough with everyone. I love how this game caters in so many layers to everyone out there!
I beat the game yesterday btw. Got the true ending. A great little game, it is like the Cave Story of RPGs.
I am having a bad time and it is all my fault.
one cool thing i will say is my boyfriends gonna be makin one of the shirts probably
So which one did he make, probably!?
http://www.fangamer.com/products/undertale-determination-combo
Thank you for that. I haven't laughed myself to tears while screaming like that in forever.
4Sans truly is everywhere, in video game and real life. It's a good thing I don't believe in him.
quickly closes out his Sans RP Blog on tumblr in his history
I just heard about this. Speaking of i just recently finished having a bad time. Time to give it a bit of a wait and then come back for that final ending.
I'm doing a genocide run right now…and my soul feels tainted...

same and it's the worst thing

god yes this is like 60% why I had to play it and stop following the lets play
Markiplier giving toriel a Scottish man's voice was so grating haha like 'I can't take multiple hours of this'
I bought the game last week and like it so far, especially Papyrus. I'm currently dying to Undyne alot (Pacifist run, albeit I think about switching to neutral) because I forgot to stock healing items. That's what I get for not wanting to be spoiled.

I kept dying to her too but it's really easy if you REALLY consider what she tells you at the start of the battle

once you realize what to do it's actually one of the easier fights in the game.

I was in the same boat as you on that the first time I wanted to spare her, simply because I didn't know how to get out of having to kill her.
Do you know what you're supposed to do?
You wait for an option that was never there before.
! You'll be given the option to run
Sans battle simulator…kind of.
https://joezeng.github.io/endless-sans/
Hit boxes are a little off, but it might be a good way to practice for the real thing. If only for the very basic bone sliding segments (no lasers or wall slamming).

Finally playing this thing. ABout 2 hours in, doing a pacifist run to start, though I am worried about a thing I did a while ago after the first boss.
! Confused and at a loss as to what to do, I killed the first "boss". I had only meant to do some damage when suddenly there was a massive crit hit. I closed the game and restarted after that… and while she was alive again, the game was aware of what I had done. It mentioned seeing her ghost, and shortly after I was taunted about having save scummed.
! Will this affect the final game and ruin the pacifist run? Or is it just messing with me... for now?
The game is aware of your actions on previous saves for plot reasons and mostly flavor text, but as long as you don't kill anything the perfect ending path isn't affected.
!
My headcanon voice for Flowey will forever be Adventure Time's Magic Man.
I finally got past Undyne and befriended her. Calling Papyrus has gotten even more hilarious ever since. I really liked how her sprite had sauce on her after she smashed the vegetables. That's a nice detail. Talking about cooking, I reached Mettaton's cooking show and have yet to decide who the worse cook is.
@ 1:00
shit fuck shit
…And Spear of Justice is also the same tune as in the Ruins, essentially.
So which came first!? Ruins, Waterfall or Spear? Makes ya think.
Alright, time to finally play this game and see what all the fuss is about.
And yes, I'll be trying for a pacifist run.
So I finally got a new computer and now I can play games, yaaaay!!!
Obviously my first one was Undertale because I was seriously wanting to play this thing and… well... now that I look at it, I am pretty sure my old computer could handle it :|
Anyways, I am still at the beginning, but enjoying it a lot. I just killed Toriel and hated myself after seeing how she died, so I am gonna reload and try to keep her alive.
Already got "spoiled" that there are different endings if you keep fighting through the game or not :/ I wil try to ignore that I am aware of this...
Finally beat the game, both neutral and good ending. Don't think I have it in me to do a genocide run right now.
! Geez, that ending got really meta didn't it? Closing the game automatically, deleting your save, changing art style drastically, fake deaths… and then the process to go get the true ending adds on another couple hours. Overall the ending chunk of the game is almost as long as half the game!
! Flower is a jerk of a boss. I had full screened that window that you closed, you jerk!
! I'm not against doing a genocide run on principle, because I'm actually really curious about the changes that would happen and what it'd be like to have a character that could take hits (though after knowing what EXP and LOVE actually stand for) and because there's a couple enemies I'd like to beat the snot out of, but more because I don't want to clock in another 10 hours at the moment... I have a ton of other games to play, books to read, work to do, etc.
! Overall, while most of it was fun, I didn't fully dig the quirky character style. Yes, its supposed to be endearing, and I can see why some people absolutely love the hell out of this game, but after a point I found some of the quirkiness a little annoying. Some of it made me laugh, and most of the fights were interesting, but... some bits just went on too long and it crossed the line from charming to ugh. Especially near the end when you started getting cell phone calls every three steps and tons of puzzles get interrupted and such. (or when you find out most of the traps were started by your friend.)
! I like that the combat system was basically different for every enemy, it kept things fresh and interesting pretty much the whole time, though some of the bullet hell-ness did get frustrating eventually, especially on some of the bosses that took a while. And when you ran into the same enemy a bunch of times and had to go through the exact same sequence of three steps while dodging their bullet hell to be able to spare them every time... it stops being a cute and unique interaction and becomes tedium to some degree. For the most part the game was really good about this, random encounters were pretty low and you didn't see the same stuff much (judging from the end credits there were two or three monsters I never saw at all) but it could get old if you were in one spot for a while.
! I eventually went and got the Temmie armor, and that helped... but it still didn't totally break the game's difficulty.
Also, temmie is the best.
Finished the game on Pacifist and, uh…

Yeah, what he said. Also…
! While I really did enjoy the game, I'm not sure I loved it as much as a lot of other people seem to love it. Though I will admit that part of my reason for not wanting to do a genocide run immediately is because, yeah, I am kind of attached to these characters and don't want to hurt them (the other being I think it's just too much too soon for me to play the entire game again, even if they do change it up a bit).
! Flowey genuinely creeped me out, especially towards the end where he makes some legitimately scary faces.
! The story does get a little complicated towards the end, what with the reveal that your character's name was actually Frisk the whole time, and it kind of feels like they changed the rules about how monsters can get past the barrier (in any case, the monster/human soul was definitely a bit convoluted). But I guess it makes sense if you pay attention? When I was watching Steam Train's run of the game how Ross explained that Asriel was reincarnated as Flowey since his ashes were spread on the flower that Alphys injected with Determination, which I had never thought of.
! While the game could get hard, I really appreciated how forgiving it was, particularly during the final fight with Flowey on the neutral route (doing that whole fight in one go would be a nightmare)
! Never did buy the Temmie Armor, but I guess that's respectable in that I didn't need it.
! And, of course, I love how every single sprite and character in this game is unique and they all look like they have their own story to tell (for some reason, I love that mouse(girl?) with the scarf in Snowdin).
! Oh, and another reason I'm putting off the genocide run. I've seen the fight against Sans and…..yikes.
Got my poster from fangamer yesterday (and a free shovel knight pin??), and I love it :D
!
In spite of already being completely spoiled regarding the endings (and the rest) of the game , I bought Undertale. Has anyone ever bought a video game primarily because the OST was good (amazing in the case of this game), because this is like the third time I have done so?
