How are the translations for Steel Ball Run and Jojolion? I figure I might as well start reading the series as there's no news whatsoever on when the next part of the anime might be released.
Pretty good. Kewl is the one who translated for the scanlations and, while I don't know if he works professionally as translator, he has a very impressive curriculum in fan translated manga that goes for at least 2 decades at this point.

Scan is fine. I'd buy the volumes if they were available in English. I hadn't realized how far behind Viz was in releasing Jojo's outside of Japan.

Ok. Best start to a JoJo’s series thus far IMO.
Jodio Joestar is an instantly likable character and is my type of protagonist. The premise of this series is raw and really just unlike anything Araki has done before. The names of the Stands are all classic songs; I love this already.
Oh my fucking god, I loved every page of it! This was soooooo good! It had pretty much everything I love about this series packed up in a single chapter.
November Rain is probably getting a fully humanoid version at a later point, but its current design is definitely my favorite of all Jojos' Stands. Also I really liked both Jodio and, mainly, Dragona... even though those names are terrible.
Since this is Araki we are talking about, though, there's no way to tell if by the next chapter things will change abruptly and give a complete different feeling, but for now I am really excited for this.
OK, so JoJoLands is set around at least 2020, thanks to the mention of COVID. What was the time frame for JoJolion?

Well, although I've never read Steel Ball Run or Jojolion, I figured I could use a new manga to read and I'm definitely an established Jojo fan through the anime, so I gave this a look.
Yeah, this is real good. Araki's art style still makes some of the action a bit hard to follow for me, but plot setup is really solid, as are the characters. And November Rain's design is so boss.

Also how JoJo is it that in a chapter devoted to introduce an already variegated cast of hustlers, drug dealers, small time mobs and robbers, the vilest charachter is still the cop.

I love Jodio so far. Found a hilarious post on reddit that summed up his character. As someone who hated Giorno and Part 5, I'm hoping this is closer to my taste.

I know nothing of Dragona's gender.
What I do know is that they Fuck.
Unless there's a translation issue, I don't understand the confusion about Dragona's gender. Doesn't Jodio spell it out? He's a dude who likes wearing girly clothes and getting breast injections. If something changes, it changes, but does anyone actually expect it to?
edit: I suppose it could be that Jodio doesn't respect Dragona's desires, but I don't feel like that characterization has been hinted at.
Could it be a "Japan" thing? Meaning there are certain rules concerning what you can print on paper on certain matters, so you can have trans characters but can't really address them as such ?
Araki doesn't strike me as someone who on on his own would be that bizantine about it.
Coincidentally, the recent Fire Emblem game had a character who I could swear was trans, but apparently he identifies as male and just likes to dress up in women's clothing and loves "cute" things. So yeah, I don't know, but maybe there is some limit on what they can get away with.
And for the record, no, their name is not a pun on "drag", it's probably supposed to related to "dragon".

Ch 2… wow. The implications behind this development are fascinating, if Araki decides to take it there. “The JoJolands.”
I had a hunch this would be the “Japanese person”, but it was probably my bias not wanting it to be a Jojolion character (I really need to reread Jojolion so I stop disliking it).
Second chapter was pretty interesting as well, and third already looking very promising.
Alohaoe keeping the “bad names” in this part going strong… maybe it’s an acquired taste and a few chapters in I will start appreciating these names.
I tried to read Jojolion 2~3 times but ended up bored by it. I've skipped it entirely, in the end. Jojolands, on the other hand, managed to capture my attention with the first chapter. I'm hooked.
Dragona (seems to be Dragon related, not Drag) has such potential. Her stand being named after one of my favorite Sade song just made it all better. I'm thinking of her as being non-binary for the time being.
Jodio seems to be a bit of a sociopath, which is the recipe for a good Dio-based character.
I'm a bit confused by the character that appears at the end of chapter 02 though. If I'm not wrong, the only character from other universes that appeared in SBR was Dio, right? And Valentine had to pull him up from another dimension to make it possible. So does that means that there's another way to travel between domains? Or this dimension version of this character is just very alike the one from the past universe? I'm not sure of the implications of it, lol.

That wasn't even really Dio, rather anoter Diego who just had the World instead of Scary Monsters. As for this chapter's guest star,

Not really sure i got how the double camera trick is supposed to work, I mean either way they're gonna have their faces caught on camera at a crime scene, but they seem confident about it so cool.
Very solid second chapter overall, the monthly wait is already bothering way more than I ever rememeber it doing with Jojolion tbh.

We saw another Stroheim and another Avdol in SBR.
But just like Alfiere, I think this chapter’s character is just exempt from rules.
