I liked the first Utawarerumono no idea yet what it's really about but the vibe kept me engaged.

So apparently Anti-Magic ended up even crappier than the other two magical high school light novel shows?
But hey, One Punch Man is awesome enough to make up for the existence of the trinity of blehhhhhhhhhh
-
Owarimonogatari is prefect, as expected. Man I don't want this series to end.

Does anyone knows what day of the week do OPM release?

Ah okay, thank you.

I liked the first episode of the second season of Garo. I thought it was a good start. The first ep of the first season kind of drove me away and I only came back to it after I'd seen good impressions on it, but this one didn't. It was a fine introduction episode.

This is the website I use. Usually HorribleSubs uploads the episode an hour later.

Is anyone watching Comet Lucifer? I had that as maybe a possible show to watch.
Enjoying the Gundam Iron Blood Orphans. Thank you Sander for the recommendation. -
^Comet Lucifer is cute, the mech is decent, it's more or less the Gargantia of the season.
Iron Blood Orphans is definitely the mech show of the season, no, of the year so far.
I just watched episode 2 of both Gundam and OPM, and both were godly.
I've been disillusioned with new Gundams for a decade, so I'm so glad to see such enjoyable series. -

Second episode was even better than the first. The show seems so, so solid all around. I'm actually rooting for these child protagonists who think adults are doo-doo heads because it's actually warranted, I love the more hard sci-fi vibes and the gritty tone, I actually DON'T want to see the protag get punched in the face ( a rarity), the plot isn't the same old tired shit in a newer wrapper and the sakuga's on point.
This all too good to be true. I'm still expecting it to go bad SOMEWHERE almost as much as I expect Orga to go all Griffith on Mikazuki's ass. But for all of my exaggerated skepticism, I'm loving IBO.
Oh and this show is REALLY doing all Aldnoah tried to do but doing it incomparably better. It's almost as if the folks at Sunrise heard that "Aniplex's Gundamkiller" talk that was going around and decided to teach the upstarts their place.
-
Biscuit is an awesome name.

Ha, that's the exact impression I got too, especially with Inaho's seiyuu voicing the rotund guy with a goofy name (though Biscuit is definitely like the best character on the show at the moment). I laughed at his sisters being named after food too, of course! Also, after Wing and 00, I'm very glad to see the local Relena character actually having a significant degree of self-awareness (though whether her desire to actually not be the load will be followed through on as opposed to the traditional process of being thrown a bone at one point before shuffling back into irrelevancy that happens so much with girls in shonen remains to be seen). About the only thing that really bugs me right now is the damn cartooniness of Orga's design, though since his odds of surviving the series are incredibly slim that problem will likely take care of itself.
Second episode of One-Punch Man continued to be hilarious. I could really, really relate to Saitama's struggle with the mosquito.

He's either going to go Griffith or go Kamina. At this point, I'm actually thinking Kamina dieing route is more likely, since he seems a bit sad whenever Mikazuki blindly follows his orders without thinking for himself. Like, he'll use that fact, but he doesn't seem completely happy about it

…I still need to finish watching Turn A Gundam.
And Space Battleship Yamato 2199.
-
All this talk praising that new Gundam show is getting me real curious, you guys. off to download

A lot of potential this season.
Great : Gundam (Best OP of the season btw), OPM, HQ! S2, Young Black Jack
Potential to be great : Garo, Noragami S2, Osomatsu-san, Seraph S2
Good enough to continue : Heavy Object, SnK spin-off
May continue later : Comet Lucifer, K, Perfect Insider, Concrete Revolutio, Utawarerumono
Dropped : Asterisk, Cavalry, HnK spin-off -
Heavy Object has a pretty cool setting and unique weapon designs, but it gets difficult as a contender in a season with a Gundam series. I noticed that we saw no background personnel (Base technicians etc.) in HO, despite the huge size of the machines. Gundam universe feels way more real and organic.

Is there merit in reviving the Gundam thread? Will IBO get discussion here?

Depends on how detailed said discussion is going to be and how many of the other Gundam series it involves (possible spoilers yadda yadda). But seeing how many are positively reacting to IBO I say go for it, San.

Anybody else seen Valkyrise Drive:Mermaid? I expected way more censorhsip for this one. xD
OPM is amazing so far! If they can keep up this quality over the next ten episodes, then daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayum!!! <3
I'm just glad the first episode of WT's filler arc wasn't as horrible animated as the very first episode from a year ago. Seems they increased the budget for this one after the first season. Hopefully they gonna keep up this decent quality for the episodes to come and won't have big lows and highs like in the first season. That they made a full year filler season though means Toei wants to wait till there is enough manga material to make a third season, doesn't it?
-
@James:

Just watched the first episode. Lack of censorship took me by surprise. I also believed that you can't get naughtier than Triage X, Bikini Warriors or Monster Musume.
Boy I was wrong. That is some high class big breasted yuri action right there.
-
I was just wondering if anyone has continued watching K: Return of Kings. I couldn't make it through the first episode, but I read so many reviews and comments about how so many people loved the show, and loved the series before.
Just curious to see if anyone is still watching it or not.
-
The second episode of Concrete Revolutio was easier to follow than the first and the palette didn't strain my eyes as much, but apparently this show is supposed to be taking place during the 60s? That explains the choice of color, but I definitely would not have been able to pick up on that just by watching. Episode 3's preview with the cyborg detective interests me.
One-Punch Man's opening remains the best one of the season for me, with Gundam's coming in a second once it grew on me a bit. Though I'm not watching it, F's got some interesting style with the white pencil stuff. My "feel-good ending of the season" award goes to Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V…so naturally on its second airing it plays immediately after a main character gets brutally rekt in every sense of the word by a sadomasochistic freakshow. Go figure.

You people were talking about openings

Wow! When does it start ?

As good as OPM's OP is, Lupin is the unchallenged crown this season. Both OP and the amazing ED by Sayuri.
-
Okay yep, agreed; that's fantastic.
-
Where are guys watching Lupin? Only place I could find was on nyaa, and they were all with Italian dub. Was expecting to see on Crunchyroll since they've added some older episodes of it, but I'ts not there.

Nyaa has the seperate subs that can be applied to raws
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
In terms of legal streaming, no one seems to have picked it up, which sucks immensely.
-
How is Young Black Jack? Haven't risked it yet cause it isn't written by Tezuka and that scares me. Don't want to damage my memories of this great series. Never heard of Yoshiaki Tabata.
Valkyrie Drive Mermaid though, I'm amazed how much shit they are getting away with. Too bad the plot and characters are not exactly appealing from the writing standpoint.

… Queen's Eater Not just didn't click with me.

I love Seraph S2's ed and the first two eps have done a really good job handling that material. As it's always been, it's not amazingly well written, but it certainly is entertaining. Sometimes it is for good reasons (entertaining fights and the most interesting concepts of the story in the focus), sometimes for bad reasons (the dialog specifically can be an absolute mess and it pretty much literally does nothing new), but damn, did WIT do a good job presenting it these first two eps of season 2.
-
I never saw an episode of Lupin before but I really liked the first of this season. I will give it a try.
-
Seraph this season is so rushing with no reason.
-
The new Garo kinda sucks. It looks ugly, the writing is a big step-down and the only character for now I find interesting is Seimei. S1 had kind of a wonky start and I initially dropped it, but when I picked it up the characters grew on me within the first few episodes, and it all looked good, too. I might pick it up again, when I hear good impressions on it or just give it a try again.

Garo: Crimson Moon is awful.
Such a letdown, dropping it like a rock.
-
That episode 5 of Iron Blood Orphans
Throughly satisfying. This has been the most fun I've had in a Gundam series in over a decade.
-
Watching:
One Punch Man - Awesomeness every episode. Natsume's Sakuga Dream Team and Madhouse deliver every single episode. They heard the insinuations that OPM anime couldn't possibly look anything but laughable next to the source material and decided to prove the internet wrong. It's the main event for me every Sunday.
Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans - I know this show is fooling me into a false sense of security before it trainwrecks me SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE, but so far it's actually pretty dope. We're 5 for 5, keep it up, prove me wrong and shut me up, Okada.
Concrete Revolutio - Now this is a difficult show! Looking at it, it's like there's a recipee for awesome somewhere in there, but it's just not coming together like it should and is a big, slightly confusing mess. Like with those fast forwards and stuff: I feel the show would be better served having the current timeline play out and then go into the future stuff with a season 2, instead of cramming it all in at once. Though the last two episodes focused on the current timeline and, while not bad at all, didn't exactly set me on fire. Maybe the execution ain't quite there. However, I intend to stick with it. Makes for a good filler inbetween IBO and OPM.
Osomatsu-san! - Good enough comedy about a cartoony bunch of jackasses.
Lupin III - "It's Lupin, he's a funny guy! He gets angry… sometimes." I like the blue jacket series so far. My only problem is the lack of consistent subbing.
Noragami Aragoto - Another decent show for Saturdays.
Ushio & Tora - Good ol' oldschool hotblooded shounen. Tora makes the show. Tora is love, Tora is life.
Dragon Ball Super - Beerus and Whiss are the best addition to Dragon Ball canon and the show seems to have found it's stride.
-
As I thought, Dio's VA is in Seraph.
So that is a thing. -
I'm catching up on stuff and finally have my fall shows settled on.
MSG: Iron Blooded Orphans - This is my second Gundam series after Reconguista. It's entertaining so far. Not as keen with this as I was with G-Reco though, granted it's only been like 5 eps.
Young Black Jack - This show is really going all out with the fanservice. I'm enjoying things I didn't know I enjoyed. The story is aight too.
Owari no Seraph 2 - I'm just here for smug.
One Punch Man - I'm just here to compare it to the manga so I can be a proper hipster snob on the internet.I'm having fun catching up with my massive backlog this season. I actually managed to get to the final episodes of Captain Earth from last year and it's good to know nothing interesting happened after all.
-
Looks like the Fall season is about half-way through.
I ended up putting Lupin on hold for maybe to follow for another time. It was good, but didn't really urge me to follow it weekly.
Also dropped Garo to maybe pick up again at one point, if I hear it gets better. No interest in picking up the AoT spinoff at any point, though.
On the other hand…
One Punch Man is excellent. Great animation, general characterization, humor all hold it together. It's a very simple and possibly lame idea held together by excellent execution. First series in a few seasons that I really strongly look forward to every week.
Noragami's Bishamon and upcoming Ebisu arcs gave me a lot of feelings in the manga and they're giving me feelings in the anime. The animation is a step-down from the first season, but the strong source material, along with art, direction, music hides that very well. Another one of my favorite series among the recent stuff and in general.
Osomatsu-san continued to be fun and with episode 5 had it's emotional episode, which made me feel for Ichimatsu. I'm still confusing the brothers at points, though.
Finally, Seraph just continues to be fun mindless shounen action stuff. The fight last episode looked pretty nice; the material is presented as well as it could be. I'm really happy how much material it covers has been increased. The first season stretched the material too thin, this quicker pacing improves on some of that redundancy and repetitiveness of the source material.
It's a very solid season so far - to me definitely an improvement from spring and summer, which were some of the weakest seasons in a while.
-
Any good mystery show this seasons?
-
Yeah, the new Garo is freakin' horrible. Art is sub-par, animation is downright lazy and bad, and the story just plain sucks. What a big letdown, since I actually really liked the original Garo, a far cry from this abominable version.
-
What?! Didn't even know that Garo has animes. I've been a fan of the live action (Saijima Kouga FTW!).
-

The sequel of Bakemonogatari, Owarimonogatari.
