I don't really like Kyros's overprotectiveness of Rebecca. It feels demeaning towards her, imho.
sorry but you really gotta stop

Although maybe I'll look back and wish for more to have been showcased from the officers, I do like the chapter a lot for the moment. It was definitely entertaining. Insane face defeated by more insane face.
I still don't care about Rebecca or Kyros's situation lol. Diamante fits right in with Oda's facial repertoire though, you can tell he's having loads of fun with Diamante's dickery.
He's a descendant of fighting fish though. Not a merman, literally a fish
Jeez man its clear that Dellinger has fishman/merman father.
Maybe we even seen him already here
!
holy crap! here i thought diamante's and gladius's powers are stupid and kinda useless but man was i wrong about that. i wonder, if buffalo is given a chance to show his real potential, can he be as deadly as the two? i mean his power is kinda stupid too.
i LOVE romeo and cabbage's interaction. reminds me of zoro and sanji but better.
as for delingger, i dont think he transforms per se. he simply remove his hat to show his horn and regrow his teeth. maybe he grind his teeth to look like normal teeth.
ps: i want to be robin's slave too
Man that panel with Cavendish's foot in Bartolomeo's face was just priceless. I feel sorry for Dellinger he was fodderized so quickly
Imagine fighting fish fishman pirate and how strong he is if his son is like that.
I think Delliger would be stronger than his own father by now because of the harsh treatment in the Doflamingo crew. If he is down I am really disappointed by the crew …. once again
I don't really like Kyros's overprotectiveness of Rebecca. It feels demeaning towards her, imho.
Other then that, a fine chapter, though it feels as if Oda rushes instead of taking his time.
So you'd let your daughter fight someone who can one hit kill her and do nothing about it? and it's the same bastard that killed your wife? what a heartless ***** :ninja:
No one loves Wadatsumi:(
Actually, I agree with him.
she's his daughter guys you can't blame a father for protecting/over protecting his daughter specially if it's against someone like diamante
and she didn't chose this life of continuous fighting in the first place she was forced into it she never wanted to be a gladiator or seek after revenge ! it's kyros's role now to give her freedom back and let her choose her own path
it doesn't feel even remotely demeaning
I liked the chapter, although I wish it was Robin protecting Barty from Gladius, then winking.
On a side note, Dellinger is insane.

Agree
I can't understand how people bash Kyros for something like that.
Diamante is way stronger than his daughter, he is annoying because he don't want to send Rebecca to death?
Are they stupid?
So even Dellinger isn't pure evil like the top executives and Dofla. Still hope for them to join Law.
why are u stating this?
If she could hold her ground with Diamante then it would be different but she cant. Speaking of heartless I bet we have plenty of them on this board.
Last week I was wishing "Please the next fallen person be Dellinger." and boy look at that! He is really down and knocked out by the most epic Colosseum fighter. This Hakuba guy appeared only two times and made those chapters. Cavendish for the next nakama! :D
And Bartolomeo's last reaction: "What's happening!? There is a scary person across the barrier!!!" Rofl, awesome. :D
Hoping for a Cavendish vs. Trebol fight… :)
He's a descendant of fighting fish though. Not a merman, literally a fish
it just means that somewhere down the genealogical tree of his merman/fishman parent there was a fighting fish.
no bestiality involved if it's what you are thinking.
I really enjoyed this chapter! Quite fun and entertaining!!!
Cons-
-Kryos not wanting his daughter to swing a sword is highly sexist but I'm not surprised as Oda has a history of not doing women justice in One Piece.
-another week, more dragging out of Zoro vs the underpowered Pica
-Hakuba beat Dellinger way too easily, making it anticlimactic
Pros
-All the various moments between Cavendish and Bartolomeo! Very funny and entertaining!
-first attempt to have Robin be in an actual fight since this saga began way back in Punk Hazard
-Bart's actions towards Robin were cute lol
-Anything involving Dellinger as a bad ass this chapter
-Seeing Gladius in action.
-Seeing Hakuba again
Overall it was fun though! :)

I would disagree.
From what we know of the Doflamingo crew, they are all outcasts…
Doflamingo (previously Celestial Dragon), Baby 5 (family), Pica (voice), Law (Lead poisoning)
It's possible that Jiolla (sp?) mated with an actual fighting fish, resulting in Dellinger and her becoming Dofla's crew member. She was shunned by her family / tribe? and Dofla took her in....
If she could hold her ground with Diamante then it would be different but she cant. Speaking of heartless I bet we have plenty of them on this board.
it's probably just because she is a woman.if instead of a daugher, she was a "son",nobody would have complained…we live in a dark age of the internet

Dellinger is half human, half fishman.
Don't wanna imagine how Dellinger was conceived
Besides, remember that any seafolk can birth any species of fish hybrid, for all we know Delinger's sea parent could have been a clownfish base.
Dellinger's father or mother my must be a zoophile.
@Galaxy:
Dellinger is half human, half fishman.
isn't that what i just said ò_ò?
Besides, remember that any seafolk can birth any species of fish hybrid, for all we know Delinger's sea parent could have been a clownfish base.
What if you dont get a random kid if you mate with a human if your a fishman/merman
I wished Zoro said something like "That kick is still nothing compared to that nosebleed bastard".
This plateau is the craziest battlefield ever.
Also, Kyaaaah!
I hope Dellinger is gonna keep on fucking shit up, when he revealed his teeth I was like ''aaah shieeed''. And I gotta hand it to you guys who realised Ideo wouldn't beat Delli. Excellent predictionskills, although I think nobody expected Hakuba to show up so fast. We haven't even seen Cavendish fight at all, so who the hell knows what will happen now.

You missed the point. It wasn´t about Rebecca being a women ,and because of that she should´t swing a sword. It was because Rebecca is like her mother a kind Person who despises violence, and was forced her whole life to fight even though she didn´t want to. That´s why Kyros doesn´t want his daughter to swing a sword, it stands for him wishing that his daughter doesn´t have to fight if she doesn´t want to.
why are u stating this?
Based on him saying that he would have left Ideo alive had he just played dead shows he wasn't making sure he was dead as opposed to Diamante this chapter being pure evil taunting the man who's wife he killed saying he'll kill his daughter too as part of fate.
At this stage in the game I think Oda wouldn't spend so much time showing that there are good aspects of Doflamingo's crew, noting that nobody on his crew besides the seats knows his nature, and slowly showing that some of the crew's relationship is a facade to not make something of it. I think that the "good" members of Dofla's crew will end up with Law.
I love in particular the "Victory upon a mountain of sacrifices? That's what cowards do!" line because Doflamingo's whole schtick is being willing to sacrifice his crew mates for his own victories. Dellinger doesn't know Dofla's true nature and once he finds out he's one of those sacrifices maybe he'll change his tune.

I never saw her as that type of character, but if what you say is true..then it becomes more understandable.
I don't really like Kyros's overprotectiveness of Rebecca. It feels demeaning towards her, imho.
Because not protecting her from a far stronger guy who's trying to kill her is great parenting.
As a father of two girls himself, Oda probably understands this more than anyone here.
bart at cavendish are so funny.
they will make a great tag team in the future
also robin's wink makes bart more powerfull
and im glad hakuba is back!
btw nice chapter

Dellinger wreaked havoc since he was introduced, defeated Dagama, Blue Gilly, Bellamy and Ideo without breaking a sweat, and then got caught off guard by a demonic swordsman who took out 30 people in under 10 seconds, I don't really see a better way he could have been dealt with. He is a strong fighter, but he underestimated the battlefield due to him being so young and lacking experience. I see this as a good finisher for a character as hyped as he was.
Chapter was great.
Enjoyed the chapter just like I did with the last two I love that Oda is giving other characters(future allies) a chance to shine here since half the SHs aren't here, Cavendish and Bartolomew are both awesome so its great to have a chapter focused on both of them, their interactions were great and Robin and Bartolomew made me laugh, this two dudes are definetly on my favourites list after this arc.
Bart barrier "exploding" after the wink from Robin was so damn funny.
Dellinger going all psycho riping the hat and bitting Ideo was cool also, I liked to see him show something else besides being smug.
Hakuba is strong as fuck we already knew that from the Coliseum I dont see why its so surprising that he beat Dellinger(that wasn't expecting the attack) that easly if he is indeed beaten, he migth be up next chapter.
Also STFU about Rebecca and the sexist bullshit, the man was trapped as toy and couldn't protect her for all this year, she took a life she wouldn't otherwise have if it wasn't for what happened(having to use a sword and become a gladiator) he doesn't want her to be forced to do the same again, there is nothing sexist about this, its a father wanting to protect his daughter and Rebecca will eventually intervene anyway, this was done to show Kyros resolve to protect his daugther not to hurt Rebecca character at all but with all the feminist bullcrap on the web this days and the white knigts every where I knew rigth after reading the chapter someone would make that dumb comment.
btw is there a release next week?
sorry but you really gotta stop

And four.
Funnily enough, I was going to make an argument out of this.
And I could, really. Like the fact that holding fictional characters to the real life standarts is stupid, if only because of how different those worlds are. Or that he is acting against her own wishes.
Or that is not his actions, but words that are troublesome.
But you know what? Fuck it. I'm fucking done.

@Galaxy:
No chapters until ~January 15th.
wooo jan 15 thats tooooo longggg
btw thanks for your answer
You do know I was agreeing with you, right?
Ah, sorry. I'm tired, read it wrong and included you unjustly, I apologize.
Cool chapter.
Hakuba is just like Captain Kuro, they can't really control who they slash.
Who do you guys think is the faster one?
I got surprised by this chapter and I love it. I didn´t expect hakuba to be the one Knocking out dellinger but the execution was so magnificent it really paid off.Hopefully next chapter will be about franky and señor Pink. The enemies remaining are Gladius, Pink, Pica, Diamante, Trebol and Dofla himself. Is the first time I´m actually thinking we are getting there.
I can understand why Kyros act like that, even if I don't really like it for now. I just hope it's a build up for big moment for Rebecca where she can be useful or something

This is not holding characters to real life standards. It's about character writing itself.
He's not going to tell her to suck it up and fight. In fact, Kyros has never expressed his wish to have Rebecca fight. He only wanted to be a good father and forget that he was once a murderer. He taught her fighting exactly because he would not be around forever, tried to convince her to not participate in the tournament and expressed guilty for being only able to teach her how to fight.
It's all consistent with we've been shown so far. And consistency should be above everything in a character, even if he comes off as negative for some (I don't like his treatment of Rebecca either, but I understand what Oda is going for with it). I wouldn't be surprised if Rebecca just disobeys him later on.
@ODA:

It was stated by Oda that Kuro's speed is the same level of Soru, so Hakuba that is.
And Hakuba can control who he slash, he just doesn't discriminate.

Bullshit. It is not consistent with his treating of Rebecca in the slightest.
Did he suddenly became immortal? Will he be forever young and strong? Are they not living on the most dangerous of the six seas?
Who is to say that the story can't repeat itself? Him?
He agreed that he was not going to be around forever. Now he acts as if he will. He acknowledged her right to make her own concieous decisions. Now he does not. If anything, his behavior is contradictory to what have been established earlier.
More importantly, it's not only about character being consistent, it's also about how they are painted in the context of the story. Hody Jones was a racist, but nothing about his racism was portrayed to be good or worthy of admiration.
Actions of Kyros ARE. He comes of as negative, but that is clearly not Oda's intention with this scene. And that's the problem with it.
But then again, people are going to defend it regardless of anything I say, so why bother?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Well, its way overdue.
You would be surprised how many people disagree with you on that.
Aww the topic has already fallen into its endless arguments… RIP in peace
Remember everyone: No hitting below the belt, and power levels must be measured in Cavendishes (Hakuba is 2)
That time when you expect a break and get…a chapter, priceless.:ninja:
I don't know, Cavendish doesn't look like much without hakuba.
I would just love it if habuka goes crazy and fights zoro, and bartolomeo get Gladius.
Who would not like to see swordman zoro vs swordman habuka, go on and lie.
