Reminds me more of Warioware, which I don't mind at all.
And yet I still wish they'd up the punx some.

@Purple:
Now catering to squid fetishists
You just watch me M8.
Found it.

Found it.
If I were a girl, I would cosplay the shit out of this, except the arm thing. Looks painful :wassat:
On the other hand, I could go as an old battered Squid warrior, hm…

Ok, I wouldn't think this is necessary, but I'm going to just go ahead and say it now.
I don't mind people posting fan-art
I don't mind purple making stupid jokes about an inevitability. Ok, I do mind a little, I don't think it needed to be brought up but the topic died quick enough.
What I do mind is people actually following up on that and going through to FIND stuff that proves that while implying they're taking up on the challenge of going "squid fetishist"
I don't care if it's a joke or if there's a layer of seriousness to it, but KEEP THAT SHIT OUT OF HERE
These are video game characters from a video game that has NOTHING to do with sexuality or any of that, and I want it kept that way. No one cares what you want to fetishize or what you find interesting. It's not funny if it's meant to be a joke.
It has NO place here. And overall I will take huge issue to people immediately taking female video game characters and sexualizing them. Because lololol waifu jokes, lololol it's funny because it's a joke. I find it uncomfortable, and I know there's other people for whom that could be the same. So kindly leave that shit out.
kthxbai
I guess they made both commericals in the same day, as the singer is the same.
Do I have to put on a trench coat and sunglasses while buying it now? lol

Its for 10 and up, are you 10 and up? I'm 10 and up!

There's actually a third commercial here:

No seriously. Keep it out. I made a joke but that follow-up was pretty tasteless

A somewhat snarky reply to a not all that polite 'request'.
KEEP THAT SHIT OUT OF HERE
Doesn't exactly scream, 'please respect my personal sensibilities'.And I don't mean to invoke you, I honestly don't; but I honestly don't see how what I found was "tasteless". It was attractive, fully clothed, humanized versions of the characters. It's not like I posted softcore porn.
This is a PG-13 forum, like the content of the manga that it surrounds. When you post fetish shit, you are essentially posting it to 13 year olds. Please quit derailing this thread with a defense of your exhibitionism.

Shit, these are like toy commercials. Who is in charge of marketing this game here and can they not be?
THIS JUST IN! The Splatoon Global Testfire is returning for one final splatterrific round! Turf War fans around the world will have a single hour to test their skills, starting at 3PM PDT on Saturday, May 23rd. This second Testfire will feature the same weapons and stages from the first Testfire event. We encourage any aspiring squid researchers that may have missed the first event to splattend!
Yeah new Testfire, will be playing it since I can't wait for the Game. The American TV Spots are way worse than the japanese, curious to see the European ones.

!
A Splatoon manga. looks like a fun manga.
All we need now its an anime or a movie.
Glad they're doing another testfire. Too bad I'll be out of town that weekend, but I'll definitely be there when the full game launches.
Can't wait!
I'm not a big FPS type person, or shooter person in general. The few games that I like playing that has shooting in it is Resident Evil and the Saints Row games. Valkyria Chronicles as well, but that's more RPG than shooter. I never got to play the demo, and won't be home for this next chance cause I'm gone for work. If I'm not big into shooters, should I bother with this at all?
Also, who needs the crazy squid fetish stuff. Octodad allowed people to live their octopus fantasies by living their normal life as an Octopus. Now we just need Squidmom, a story about a mother squid in the real world climbing up the business ranks. You need to fill out that paper work as fast as possible without others seeing you squirt out ink to fill out said paper work.
This game doesn't really seem to even be trying to appeal to fans of shooters. I personally am the sort of person to get quickly sick and tired of most shooter games/FPS games myself.
But this one, it's just fun. Maybe it's the bias because of all the color and personality and hype, but the two hours of testfire I got to play were stupidly enjoyable. So yes, I would say that at least bother enough to give the game a try.

I'll have to give it a try at some point, if I can ever try it out before buying it.
I know that the game objective is about trying to paint as much of the map as you can, and that there are multiple kinds of weapons. Is that the one game mode, or will there be other kinds of modes?
There's a single player mode that's more focused on puzzles and obstacle courses. The objective here is to reach the finish line, as opposed to painting the whole map in multiplayer, but you still have to paint everything in sight. since you can use your paint to move around in creative ways, hence the obstacle courses.
You can use different items in multiplayer, but I'm not too sure about single player at the moment. Regardless, the basic gameplay remains the same; paint everything in sight.

You can find items in single player in boxes, things like the Bubbler for example. At least that's what I recall hearing. Don't know if you get more powerful stuff like an ink-strike or a killer wail.
It's nice that people are managing to make funny memes out of those commercials
EDIT: Ah, never mind. Misplaced rage.
Free Splatoon avatar for those pumped!

Meanwhile, the US still gets nothing of the sort.
NOA just really really enjoys not taking my money I guess.
I would want a squid cushion. :(
^The music gets softer when you're submerged in ink. Cute.
Target's preorder bonus is a Squirt Gun
Found this amusing fan art on Smashboards. lol Squidna.
Some cool Prima artwork.

"Nobody puts squid in the corner…"
The newest "Iwata Asks" has some interesting information regarding Splatoon's development. Here's the summary.
That is a really interesting read actually. So basically the game is missing lots of features at launch because Nintendo needs the game to be out so they have something and it has been worked on for 4 years (even though three of those years were in Limbo)
A testfire I'll be home for! Yeeeeeeeeessss

Where does it say that?
Where does it say that?
It is not explicitly said but reading through everything that is what it sounds like (at least to me). I correct myself, i mean 2/12 years not 4, i thought the wii u had been out for longer than that. They started development right after the wii U launched in 2012 and in that first year they built the prototype with tofu and then the bunny rabbits. They were showing off the rabbit build at the end of 2013 but turned it to squids between then and june of last year. That means 1 and 1/2 years went into the project before they started working on it properly. They had an idea but that was it. They also said that the game was only 10% done last june. This is not a sequel or anything, this was all new assets so to do 90% in last than a year? It seems a bit quick for a modern new IP that nintendo want as a AAA title. We've seen the game is missing some features that really should be in and won't be until august. All the evidence points to Nintendo wanting to rush the game out after only having a year of real development time after spending a year and a half on design and bits of programming. At least that is how i feel anyway.
Unfortunately I will not be able to make the test fire. I work the closing shift that night.
Seems like this testfire is overworking the servers, not a lot of people have been able to get in more than a couple matches. I've yet to even had one :(
But hey, there's Squid Jump at least.
I played one match at the very beginning. Then never again.

I find it simply amazing how this idea occured to him in the first place. So, crossover T-Shirt collections, available shortly after an announcement of a new game/franchise is not a future thing now?
So when the test fire finally worked an hour later (glad they expanded it so we could still get the hour), I had a blast. Went charge shot the entire time and finally felt like I was rocking that weapon.
And this time, I recorded =3 Shameless promotion!!
I managed to get in a good handful of matches. Lots of fun, I'll be getting Splatoon for sure on launch day.
I only got to use the Splatgun and Splatgun Jr., and I was more comfortable with the Jr. I didn't risk experimenting with the other weapons because I didn't want to risk waiting forever to be matched up again.
Do you guys use motion controls, or the right stick for camera? I was more comfortable with stick, and I would've liked to try the motion controls a little more but again, I didn't want to experiment too much in the limited amount of time and risk I had.
Also had to adjust the sensitivity, holy crap.
Motion controls. I did control stick one time in a previous test fire and I just did not like it at all. I was much less precise.
