Gladius ain't shit.
Gladius ain't shit.
Lao G is doing pretty good against Don Chinjao and he is also just under his command in group - just under Diamante and Gladius is just under Pica so also pretty high in family.
Gladius brushed off Luffys suprise Jet Stamp to chest almost without taking any damage at all, he also easily captured Dwarfs - this proves his reflexes to be pretty great.
So elaborate on why Gladius aint shit
Because he doesn't pose a real threat.
I don't know if this has been mentioned but according to Viz manga translation Trebol is Doflamingo Chief of staff. Atleast that's what Viola said.
Well.. he goes everywhere with staff… so him being chief of it is no suprise
Because he doesn't pose a real threat.
He was holding off Bartolomeo, Cavendish and Nico Robin. That's impressive.
The mangapanda translation listed the Family and '10 subcommanders under them' last week. Does that mean we're likely to get a semi-fodder character dump to give the rest of the arena fighters something to do in the next couple of chapters?
I'm pretty sure that they were just getting rid of fodder.

No. By the "Family" they probably meant Pica, Trebol and Diamante. And the 10 subcommanders are the officers, like Lao G, Dellinger, etc.

No, this was after listing the rest of the family by name.
Fearlessness is a flaw. Bravery is a virtue.
Unfortunately, the line between them is very thin.
I would like to see Law beat DD while Luffy takes on takes out the clone and Bellamy and Robin handles Trebol. Even if Luffy does assist more in taking out DD himself, this is Law's fight to win…more so than Luffy's at least.
Law has his revenge riding on this fight, it's true, but let's be honest, nobody but Luffy is defeating Doflamingo.
Who wouldn't be content with Luffy having a final fight on Dressrosa against a bundle of strings?
Because he doesn't pose a real threat.
For me he is shown as somebody very dangerous, I dont get you at all.. honestly.
Only top dogs matter for you?

well I guess you are right. He could replace helium with his powers and make lots of balloons for all the little kids
Because he doesn't pose a real threat.
How do you know that? We've not seen enough of him to tell, if he poses a real threat or not.
well I guess you are right. He could replace helium with his powers and make lots of balloons for all the little kids
Imo he can be easily considered as for example Frankys natural enemy as Franky is made out of non-organic matter.
With his power to burst stuff he can do a lot of damage to all kinds of things so if he grabs sword for example he should be able to burst it, same with shields and all kinds of firearms.
Also he has one of most badass designs out of all Doflamingo subordinates imo
!
He should be the one to get proper mano a mano with Bartolomeo imo.
Don't underestimate Cyborg Sabo!

Iron comes from the earth and we haven't seen him do it yet. Franky would kick his ass.
Law should deal the finishing blow. This is his fight and Luffy literally has nothing to do with it.
The main character argument is stale since main arc antagonists have been beaten by other characters in this and many other series.
So that means Luffy should have never defeated or finished off anyone.
As much as i hate Luffy and him beating Doffy. Luffy is pretty much that third party person.
Whilst everyones like, hes mine i need revenge, e.g. Kyros, Law, Rebecca etc etc.
Luffy comes in and says only ill be king of tthe pirates and is a third party fixer upper.
Iron comes from the earth and we haven't seen him do it yet. Franky would kick his ass.
Erm.. so in your opinion if somethings comes from ground then he cant blow it up?
What about rock mines that he set up on walls that Chinjao "tested" by accident on himself? Or what about tin soldier?
Are you trolling or are you serious here? Be honest
Who wouldn't be content with Luffy having a final fight on Dressrosa against a bundle of strings?
Me.
llllllalalalalalalalaala

I guess it's whatever oda decides on what's inorganic. Luffys body is inorganic but him trying to blow luffy up would be a bad idea
Gladius' power always seemed dumb to me. One of those "I'm out of ideas" powers a lot of shounens introduce eventually.
Unfortunately, the line between them is very thin.
I would disagree with you on that. True fearlessness, as in, in psychological terms, is actually very different from bravery, because it's not rational. And you can't stop being fearless.
Law has his revenge riding on this fight, it's true, but let's be honest, nobody but Luffy is defeating Doflamingo.
But that isn't exactly good storytelling, you know? The fact that Luffy is a main protagonist is not enough of a reason.

I meant fearlessness more in terms of sheer overconfidence of one's abilities, rather than a psychological condition but I would be willing to concede under those terms.
But that isn't exactly good storytelling, you know? The fact that Luffy is a main protagonist is not enough of a reason.
Luffy has interacted with several characters who have been wrong by Doflamingo, and achieved a connection with them.
If he had no logical motivation to want to take down Doflamingo, but still did purely for the reason of being the story's main protagonist then yeah, that would be poor storytelling.
Also, law is not like the other arc weaklings that can't beat the main villain and luffy has to do it for them.
Law is luffy's rival, so far looks on the level of luffy(power). Law will have one important role in one piece.
Ain't Franky made out of Wapometal, not iron?
Ain't Franky made out of Wapometal, not iron?
Yep he is. Not even WB could destroy wapolmetal but that's a different story since the wapolmetal was bigger and thicker.

Until last chapter, all we'd seen from Law when coming up against Doffy was him getting him getting his ass handed to him.
He is precisely what you've described, the guy who can't beat the main villain.
I'm thinking that, seeing this is going to lead directly to the Kaidou or the Big Mom arc (depending what has happened the Swirley Brows), Law might actually be the one to take out DD to complete his revenge now (with some Luffy assistance?) and Luffy'll be the one that will defeat whatever Yonkou is coming up next.
On another note, it would be nice to see Sabo hang out with the straw hats for a while after this arc to learn what happened etc. in stead of having him just doing an "Ace" by leaving immediately after the arc.

If Luffy isn't even showcased as being able to take down a villain of Doffy's character, how would we be able to take him seriously against a Yonko?

I hope Ace 2.0 stays far, far away from the SH's personally.
Being thrown clean out of the story in general would be even better.
Shame it won't happen.

Why do you want him out?
Guys, this again? Luffy will not be the same Luffy at the start of the fight once he defeats Mingo.
I'd expect Luffy and Sabo to go visit Ace's grave at some point. Too bad it was said it was deep within New World somewhere.
Guys, remember, revenge is bad. You can't allow a character to kill someone out of revenge, because it will ruin their life completely. So someone has to beat their nemesis instead.
(It's like some kind of anti-revenge lobby is controling all the works of fiction.)

So it would be best if Kyros does not kill Diamante who should end up getting turned into toy imo
As for Gladius ability comment- what DFs this arc you consider as creatively designed ones?
As for Sabo - for now he is a douche, Ace 2.0 and almost nobody likes him as it seems no matter what will he do so Oda really should keep him offscreen.
We already have Law stealing screentime from Strawhats, next will be probably Kidd with even more screentime than Law so Sabo should be somehow out(killed for real wont happen though..).

Senor's, Diamante's, Funk brother's and Buffalo's are really interesting and inventive. Jola's, Sugar's and Violet's have a little stretchy concept. Gladius' is too specific for my taste and it leaves a lot of questions. What would happen with this and that, and would he be able to blow up this and that?
Baby 5's is too powerful on paper, which is why some limitations have to be put on it. And yes, also, questions. Does she need to see the weapon first, what is the limit, why can she reform after turning into a rocket and blowing up?
Machvise is nice, but we've seen his devil fruit's younger brother already.
Leo, Barto, Pica and Trebol are fine, nothing special, nothing bad.
Fujitora's fruit's concept is great, but I could live without those comets he keeps pulling out like marbles.
Doflamingo's power I'd like a lot more if he weren't able to make a bundle of strings appear as a living human with voice and sweat.
I know I'm nitpicking a little. Ultimately I don't care much about such details as long as the story is good enough.
No, this was after listing the rest of the family by name.
Viz translation: "The super-weight-man Machvise, that makes ten of officer rank or higher…"
That is quite different from MP's "Super Heavyweight Machvise with another 10 people who're below officer level..."

16 characters of mkay
As for Gladius it was said he can burst any inorganic thing or his body.
I found it pretty cool ability that should have quite a number of uses- for example grabbing somebodys weapon or shield and turning it into exploding bomb, he seemed to be not hurt by explosions that he makes and in fact it looked like he can go pretty high up using his ability to fly/jump on explosions - his exploding creations - in a way, he can also place mines with his ability as he left some stones one edge of bursting on walls that Chinjao tried to climb. Oda did quite some work with him..
I take it as more invetive as Buffalos, Baby 5 or Fujitoras.. I love design of Senor Pink with his ability and how all about his is contradicting another thing.
When Cabbage fallen asleep I wondered if Hakuba is effect of devil fruit of some sorts - something like Brooks ability activating for real after his death/ some animal that hunts at night zoan or something like that- ended up as only Cabbage having Hakuba taking over after falling asleep but Oda decided to leave it as sleepwalking :ninja:
He's just a proxy Ace, and an ever so bland one at that.
See, we can bond over this one.
Let's be united in our dislike for reincarnation of poochie!

Makes you wonder how many of those are in orbit of One Piece world.
Or maybe he can create them out of thin air?
But honestly, Fujitora's power could possibly be soooo broken.
Gladius' is too specific for my taste and it leaves a lot of questions. What would happen with this and that, and would he be able to blow up this and that?
It's a very simple concept turned into a power. Inflating and popping.
It only works on inorganic things because it would be extremely broken (not to mention incredibly violent) if you could use it against living beings.

It definitely does, which is why I asked. Thank you.

Law won't defeat Doula as long as his motivation remains strictly to a guy who died years ago.
Gosh, I really hope we get more of Sabo (a shit ton more), just to see all Sabo haters crying over him stealing everyone's screentime lol
See, we can bond over this one.

Indeed.
United against a common foe, I love it.

The MMnM belonged to Burgess, damnit!
Law won't defeat Doula as long as his motivation remains strictly to a guy who died years ago.
So you are telling that his motivation is weak that why he won't defeat DoDo?
And luffy will be the one who defeat him because of his strong motivation - girl bought for him some food.
Lol.

Lol.
He is also doing it for tontattas(Franky convinced him) and the country(he commented on how he couldn't leave the country in this mess. And Law when Doffly kick his ass again.
You're all forgetting this:
Ignore Cabbage's comment, he's stupid.
So you are telling that his motivation is weak that why he won't defeat DoDo?

Lol.
His motivation is wrong. He wants to kill his enemy out of revenge. That shit never flies.

Actually i don't care/it doesn't matter who will defeat DoDo, Law, Luffy, Sabo or Bellamy. Once DD is down every one will be happy, tontatta, Dressrosa people, Law…
I'm just asking, how you can tell if someone have a weak motivation?
His motivation is wrong. He wants to kill his enemy out of revenge. That shit never flies.
So Luffy won't be able to beat Akainu/BB and avenge Ace.
