Hey everyone, I'm considering something regarding this tournament.
I was thinking of allowing it to run until the 20th/21st instead of trying to squeeze in a third round. The main reasoning for this is that only a few people have managed to get some official matches in, and I don't see the point in updating data and scores for just a couple of matches. It's not enough of a statistical difference to justify the work, imo, and we'd wind up with near similar results.
Then once the 20th arrives we can close it for good, decide prizes, and start intensifying hype for Wii U version.
Let me know if anyone has a problem with this.
Meanwhile, what I do want to ask for is feedback on the new counterpicks. I've seen pretty frequent stair deaths in N's Castle, andI personally had some nasty experience with Jungle Japes and want to bring down the axe on it for forever and ever.
But I don't want to go around killing stages just because they were mean to me, so instead I will ask:
Jungle Japes yay or nay? N's Castle yay or nay?
and of course, cancel next tourney and instead extend this one until wii u version … yay or nay?
I'd say to extend it. I've only fought against 3 or so other people, and I know that I'm missing a few others from the previous round. But on the other hand, it seems that a lot of the other competitors haven't showed up often enough for a match, so extending might not do anything. I'm holding out on the hope that they're just busy for the time being, and that I'll get a chance to fight them later on.
As for the stages, I say NAY on both of them. Jungle Japes's rapids are self explanatory, while N's Castle has too many stage hazards for my liking. Stairs attacking you, Reshiram/Zekrom attacking you, the stage randomly tilting, and sometimes the camera pulls back way too far making it harder to space properly and fight.

Back when starting this we definitely expected there to be the case for people to slowly participate less over time (always happens), but the extension is also mostly because there's fairly frequent fighters who haven't gotten in the expected number of matches, and if I'm not catering to current participants then I'm not doing my job

Kubi hasn't gotten in matches
You, Purple and I haven't gotten in as many as before
Mick expressed interest last night and said he'll be able to play a lot more now
Rin hasn't played either
Meta hasn't played everyone
Kobra hasn't played anyone
Blax I haven't seen do as many matches as he could either
There's also Aaron! Don't think I've seen him around yet
So pretty much, I feel like if I ended this round now, it would just lead to possibly an even smaller and way too hurried round next.
I think a lot of it is also the fact that for some of us we go on the chat pretty regularly, and that has led to the case where no one is asking for matches here constantly like during the first round. So people who don't have the habit of entering the chat daily maybe just see silence here and assume no one is available or wanting to fight?
At least in my case I think I'll announce availability here more often just in case.
Meanwhile, we can hope for more participants to emerge when the wii u version comes out. At the least we get foolio, who, based on what I see of him in mario kart, will probably shake things up.
I ride the bus to and from work and so I have 13 hour days once bus rides are factored in. So I'm not available a lot.
plus, my schedule just changed at work resulting in me working 7 days straight recently.
I will be up for playing matches in an hour from now as well as all day tomorrow and the next day I'll be available to play ranked matches.

Wow, didn't know the tournament was still going on. Anyone who hasn't battle me yet (anyone besides Noqanky) PM me, or preferably get on Kiwi, and I'll be sure to get back to you soon. I go by the info on the first page and that said the tourny ended the 7th. Updating that with the most recent dates might get more people to play, I saw that the past couple days and have been waiting for a new tournament to be announced.
Also, ban Jungle Japes. Now.
I work every day until Smash U is released, so I don't think I'll be able to get any Tourney matches in for 3DS, but I'll jump into the IRC chat, so if I happen to be on tonight tomorrow or the next day, I'll play people, why not.

Sooo … After several weeks being unable to play Smash online I got my new router and Internet connection so I can join the next tournament (if someone still plays the 3ds version lol )

This time I went lazy when it comes to numbers and did them by hand/brain instead of trying to mess with the excel formulas. Reason being that it was just easier given there weren't that many players this round so it was much more manageable.

Are you looking at the right sheet? I recall you guys having rankings this round.
I don't know why but when I view the results document, the results says they're for Oct 20. I don't think the date's a typo though, because the rankings are exactly the same as the first round right down to the number of matches, and I'm pretty sure I didn't play twenty matches on this round.
There are sheets you can select at the bottom but they're all aggregated on the same excel file for convenience. You want FG2 I think
