Sadly, the game feels more like a "greatest hits", compared to 3 which tried to cover as much as it could.

They tried the same thing with Odyssey, I hope they are over it for the time being.

Some tasty Koby footage released for Christmas, plus the confirmation that they used the existing Koby model to give him a marine skin too, which is both hype for this pack, and bodes well for the next one (please give us old Garp/Rayleigh skins Bamco)
Moveset-wise it turns out he borrows more of Sanji's DNA than Lucci's. Looks really solid, both the moveset, and the summon gimmick.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 has sold over 3 million units as of Aug 2023

The Film Red Pack is out

Shanks and Koby are both busted and very well-designed, Uta is mid-tier at best.
Koby's Combat Chronicles is cool, but the big issues are not being able to switch characters and having to listen to the main menu theme every battle (yes I know you can change it, still a senseless hassle though)
-
Technique types are uniform in being the lower-tier characters in the game.

Even with this in mind, it's remarkable how bad Uta is to play.
While it's possible to use her gimmick to cause massive damage, her standard combo attacks are just way too weak. I powered her up to Lv 15 and tried her out in a Lv 1 mission, and I was chip-damaging even there.
Keep in mind I used characters like Perona in PW3, and even without relying heavily on her negativity gimmick, I could still do considerable damage with her to make it through missions. Uta on the other hand is just too dependent on her gimmick, to the point where I'd argue she needs a damage buff in the next update.
Seriously Koei, no one's looking to Warriors games for fair balance. She's a DLC character, so she should be considerably OP.

Ah, and speaking of DLC:
-
there's some random gameplay flying around the web, his moves are a lot like RED Shanks...but faster.
-
Garp and Rayleigh have been revealed, the pack releases March 28. Gameplay stream tomorrow to showcase the new characters and special log.
-
I will say that I do like this Garp moveset more then the one from 2/3. Maybe in 5 they can add the moves from the fight with Kuzan, as well.

You saw one clip and decided Garp had a whole different moveset?
He is the same in the end, just fixed slightly as to not be overreliant on grabs. AND he got at least one Hachinosu move.
We got footage for all 3 as well as a look at the new special log. Yeah we got a racing game inside our musou game now. Peak fiction
-
Some packages of the DLC are on sale on the Nintendo Eshop.
-
Roger moveset is kinda of...boring? I hope he's at least fun to play. RED Shanks seems more on the fun side...
Garp's moveset seems awesome.
-
Roger is awesome but a tad slow. RED Shanks gets stale fast
Rayleigh and Garp are bangers as well
The new missions aren't as replayable or developed as I imagined, but still a good effort. Gave us a less soulless version of TPW too.
-
I don't know if it's Bandai or Koei's fault, but someone needs to be hired who can actually come up with names for moves.

Agreed. The whole "let's name moves after random character lines" is just dumb.
-
Roger naming his shakedown attack 'Give Me Everything You Have' is kino

Nothing was quite as bad as poor Drake in Burning Blood. The name of his three specials? "Red Flag", "Former Rear Admiral" and drumroll please....
"X. Drake".
Literally, one of them was just his name!
-
It reminds me when the PS2 DragonBall games had to invent names to Raditz's attacks so we got him shouting "Double Sunday" and "Saturday Crush".
Yet they still sound better than those names. -

It's weird because some characters DO have proper attack names that have never been named in the manga, like Mihawk and Whitebeard.
Which makes me think there's some sort of reference document they use, but only for specific characters?

-
@King-Cannon Well, that's even better. It maintains the general food themed names in DB, and the sayans vegetable theme in particular.
-
No one eats veggies for fast food though. And no, lettuce on your bacon-filled burger doesn't count.
But yes, OP games should have a bit more effort in those names. Just give Drake a bunch of X puns like his X-Calibur move.

@FolhaS no joke, when I was a kid I was more familar with the games than the show, so when I DID watch the episodes with Raditz I was very confused why there was no Double Sundays...
-
@MetaMario I had a similar confusion.
The portuguese dub was translated from the french one it was normal for some details, like attack names, to be lost in the process.
So when I got into the ps2 games, and the internet, and found out many more attacks had specific names I though Raditz did have named attacks until I figured out that he really was such a chump that they had to make up silly stuff for him to shout.
