How was your Day 2 (general chat)

Happy new year everyone!

I don't know if this is really the right thread for this but a few months back I decided to cool down on my soda intake (I have only 2 cans a day now, I was having way more before that) and started taking about an hour long walk around my neighbor hood and then switched to the treadmill once things got colder and I went down from a Triple XL to a double XL and I'm still losing weight, so I'm feeling pretty good right now! Gonna continue and hopefully lose a lot more weight, slowly and steady wins the race
so if anyone's in a similar situation just know you don't have to go on a crazy diet or extreme work out, just take it one step at a time and start yourself off light and work your way up little by little

My day was great. I finally decided to order myself a new grill, this time I chose the gas one. I ordered myself Weber Spirit E310 - the price attracted me, and I also know that this is a cool brand of grills and accessories for them. I found a description of popular models here https://mykitchenadvisor.com/best-weber-gas-grill/ - the authors of the blog have done very conveniently, which can be immediately compared.

Good news - getting my initial vaccine today
Bad news - it's in the side of town with all the muggers, rapists, zealots, gun nuts, etc.
If I die before I get into the door, I'll let you all know.

Let's just hope then that you'll only get the "shot" you're intending to get.
I'll see myself out.In all seriousness, stay safe!

Thanks, I'm trying. I'm having friends escort me there just for the numbers.

- Filed my resignation after working for the company for 8 years. I started as an assistant and got promoted all the way to junior manager last year. Our department head has always been a hardass ever since and I've gotten used to her yelling and ripping us to shreds when we have screw ups at work. In a way, it helped strengthen us and would develop keenness to detail, meeting commitments, etc.
However, there were two incidents that I think were too personal:
1.) My GF, who works in the same company, caught COVID-19. She would later call me to tell me that we shouldn't have been going out since there's a pandemic. I took what she said as sort of a motherly advice, but when I reported to the office two weeks later, she told me in front of other colleagues "You know there's a pandemic yet you still keep on going out on dates" - What we do in our personal time is our concern, not hers. Plus, I didn't get the virus she has no evidence that it came from our dates as my girlfriend also went out to other places.2.) I reposted a photo on Facebook about work-home boundaries(A checklist about not working on weekends, etc.) and she called me hours later, yelling three things
- Do you have a problem with me? If you have a problem with me, say it to my face and not on social media!
- Name a situation or an instance that we took away from your personal time! (CLUE: Multiple times)
- I'm PERSONALLY OFFENDED! Do you know why? Because I'm your boss and I'm personally offended!!!!
(She discovered the post because another director sent her the photo. I reposted that because it was a reminder for myself to stop working specially during times where we're not required to work. I've gotten used to working on weekends that I've made a habit of opening emails, etc.)
I was quiet as she was yelling as I'm generally a respectful person and would confront people once emotions have settled down. What infuriated me further was when the other managers messaged me telling me to apologize. I later found out that she was expecting an apology. Instead of an apology, I submitted my resignation letter.
-
AWESOMESAUCE!!!!
Dont let them get to you!!! Tell them to fuck off!!!

Good job for not ending up like those people, stuck under her heels.
Good for you for standing tall and not putting up with that treatment.

With the unemployment boosts ending early next month in my state and with my elderly father who was placed in an elder care home last month after a few big health issues, I am going to have to not only get my job back but a second one.
It's gonna be rough and hard to survive but got to take care of myself and my older sister.

Hey I found my lost wallet! That is, I found it about 4 months after I've already replaced everything and got a new one, and spent days looking for it. Apparently it was at the top of my closet for some reason.
There was like 40 bucks and a coupon in there, so there is that. I technically gained something.
-
After not being able to make it for three years in a row, finally I am attending a Spring Training game this Saturday. :)
-
I've slowly been getting back into running again, and today I hit a new milestone. Did about 100 minutes of intervals, about 70 of which were running! Feels good~
-
My partner and I decided to go on a boat tour to see puffins, seals and various other rare species of bird (Farne islands).
Admittedly when I started the day I was really psyched to push off from land and step out of what's been a 2 year comfort zone (lockdown). I thought it might be a gentle journey there, with a large boat on calm seas and good weather.
However this was not the case, and involved overcast weather and big swells that hammered our small boat the entire way there and back, with the terror only stopping briefly with some of the shelter we gained around the islands.
While I'm glad I did it (Puffins are cool), I was more than happy to be back on dry…stable...land.
-
Ran three miles today without any walking. Getting better at pacing!
-
Three and a half miles today in about 32 minutes. And the comfrey that I sowed around the mailbox is sprouting. It's a good day!
-
AP is back. This is gonna be a good day.
-
Right now it's less about how my days are,
and more about how my nights are.My frustration is shown in these examples from Twitter.
First from last night, second from tonight.
I'm not having fun with this weather tbh.
-
AP Forums is back so I'd call this a good day. New design's gonna take some getting used to.
-
Well, I'm meeting with a friend later on who haven't seen in a long while, so that will be fun. Otherwise I would probably spend the whole day checking out our new forum lol.
I feel you, MDL, I had a few sleepless nights because of the heat (mostly) recently as well and it's not fun at all.
-
So is this going to work as an actual general chat? I think the one on the discord works pretty well and it'd be nice to have one here.
-
@andre Yeah this thread kinda always functioned as a general chat thread. Personally I’m more into the discord one, though!

Found out how to refresh the old mail inside the new mail manually.

Just got back home from a 10-day trip to Iceland. If you love mountains, water, snow, and cool weather you should definitely go there. Got lucky and saw the Northern lights, kind of. It wasn't strong enough to see the colors with the naked eye, it was mainly a faded green mist in the sky with the colors appearing on pictures.

I went to Iceland over the summer, it was absolutely gorgeous. So many puffins and so much rye bread. Didn't get to see northern lights tho. It was daylight pretty much 24/7 it was weird but cool. Need to go back one day.

Awesome, glad you got to enjoy your time there. Being October puffins were long gone for me but did get a rare sighting of some reindeer in the distance. Also got a chance to see some of my favorite animal, the Humpback Whale during a whale watching tour. Where all did you go during your visit?

We circled around the entire island. Highlights for me were the myvatn baths, whale watching up north in Dalvik, puffins in Borgarfjörður eystri, and Glacier Lagoon + Diamond Beach. Loved seeing all the seals playing in the lagoon, they're my 2nd fav animal after sharks. And we miraculously saw some humpback whales engaging in some... humping at Diamond Beach. It was nuts. I missed out on elephant rock tho, which was the main thing I wanted to see r.i.p.

Really cool things you got to see there, only places I went that you mentioned was diamond beach and glacier lagoon. Loved the area, all the various shaped ice scattered around and the various colors with the volcanic ash mixed in made for some very vivid imagery. Since it was October, I was able to go into an Ice Cave at the nearby glacier there which was an amazing experience in its own right!

It's quite well, but not exciting.
-
I left the window open during a air alert today, and I regret it. The sky is orange and I feel awful.
-
Dear lord I cannot catch a break with this house. Last year had to have major work done on the foundation. Yesterday high winds came through and had a tree fall onto my house and a branch puncture straight through into my living room. At least nobody was hurt.
-
Tuesday I was invited to Dancing With the Stars to support Xochitl Gomez. She's my martial arts student. People were wondering who I was like I was important lol. It was a bit emotional seeing her up there like that, made me tear up a little. It was filming live and not a moment after the camera left me I get a text from the east coast saying "quit all that crying already."
Then today I get a FaceTime video call from Funimation's Kaidou, David Sobolov. A friend of mine who knows him personally had I'm call me and talk briefly about One Piece. It was quite a surprise!
-
I'm pretty sure I joined the first iteration of AP forums in 2004. It is now 2024. 20 freaking years have passed??
-
You telling me it’s going to be my 20th next year
Seeing familiar faces like yours makes me feel good!
-
Finally get to experience actual winter. Went on a hike in the snow today and it was such a fun experience to me. Loved seeing all the snow and icicles forming in different places.
-
@Cinder
Sorry for the late reply, but thank you. :)
I forgot I posted it, must be getting senile. -
This is actually more about my week, but it's all related to one thing: I finally finished watching the Steven Universe and Steven Universe Future after many years of having a DVD set of it. In short, the year it came out I moved and no longer have cable. Also procrastination.
Frankly, I didn't like watching it not because I dislike the series, but because I had it's sequel series spoilered for me awhile ago. So instead of going in blind, I watched it with the knowledge that a bombshell was going to be dropped in the last act of the last series. It really affected my viewing of it, and I couldn't really enjoy Future after that. But, with a few days separated from that, I'm remembering what was nice about that show and I'm glad I finally finished the entire thing now.
-
The last 3 weeks sucked for me jobwise, not to mention that I have to deal with a major fruit fly problem in my apartment.
-
Not going too well at the moment.
