You know, last chapter, when I heard the name Shimura, my reaction was "isn't that Shigaraki's last name? Hmm… nah, looks like I misremembered." The revelation of this chapter, made me look at that mistake again, and now I realize why I made it. Shigaraki Tomura. Of course the kanji's all different, which makes me laugh at the mistake even more.

Part of me would love to see a live-action adaption of this series. I don't know how All Might or the others would fare, but AfO would look fantastic with the right budget.
Genuinely surprised Bakugou keeps cheering for All Might even in the face of his true appearance. The scenario that many here guessed might have brought him to the Dark Side was watching All Might in a position of weakness, and yet in All Might's lowest moment ever he keeps cheering for him. So, yeah, that's good!

Y'know, it's funny. I've always considered bringing up the topic of a live-action adaptation (by Disney), but feared seeing the pitchforks raised at me 
. Let's be honest, MHA is one of the few manga/anime adaptations that could work in a westernized setting. A lot of its characters are definitely inspired from conventional Hollywood archetypes. Deku, the underdog nerd. Ochako, the homely girl next door who becomes his first friend. Iida, the all-serious student and so much more.
The only person I'd have myself scratching my head over would be the transformations between No Might and All Might.

All Might gets about one-hundred chapters, yeah I can see the mangaka going for that.
That being said, I soaked up every panel. This is nothing new storywise, but if you care about the characters involved it doesn't matter. I love this chapter and I'm both excited and dreading the next.
Liked the reactions of the crowd, both good and bad. Felt real. All Might's expressions were heartbreaking. AFO is an ass, realizing that smile gesture was mocking Wonder Woman, total piece of shit. Thumbs up for Gran Torino for keeping All Might on track. Taking out the Number 1 & 3 hero, AFO will become the real life boogieman. Forget villains running amuck, very few will want to become a hero after this.
Very nice chapter! It's really nice to not have the actual main character being the one having such a big moment. At this point Deku's honestly more of a lens for us, the audience, and that's so refreshing!

I get the feeling that All Might isn't going to die, he's just going to be defeated and mutilated. Rather, I think that Gran Torino will sacrifice himself to save All Might's life. What remains to be seen is how Bakugou will respond to All Might's defeat.
It was an amazing chapter. All Might is a man among men, and it breaks my heart to recognize that he's been keeping so much of his history a secret because it would otherwise reveal his own fears of the heroic life. He's done his best to remain the Pillar of Hope for Deku... I wonder when we'll get a full flashback for him?
I love how MHA makes so many tropes I usually dislike work.
The composed teacher who is always rational? They irk me, but I really like Aizawa.
The knowledgeable old man from past generation? Always annoying, yet I love Gran Torino.
The all powerful mentor the protagonist looks up to? I always find those guys incredibly boring, yet I always have a smile on when All Might is on stage.
MHA is not creating anything new, it's just doing the same things we already saw being done so many times, but everything works in this manga!
A chapter like this one would probably have me rolling my eyes if left in the hands of many other mangakas, but here? Loved it.

Homely!? Lol. She's cute as a button. She'd just be "the girl next door" sort of character.
So here's one way I think the next chapter or two could go down:
Deku, and possibly someone else like Bakugou, go back to help All Might. Seeing All Might in such trouble, Deku probably won't be able to help himself, just as he has before. Deku will try and fight briefly alongside All Might, and will eventually resort to preparing 100+% power to beat AfO. However, due to his previous injury, this would mean sacrificing the use of his hands. All Might realizes this and tosses Deku aside, explaining that someone needs to be able to be the Pillar of Hope in the future and Deku needs to be able-bodied to do that. He realizes that he's going to die, but he sees loads of other heroes incoming (particularly Aizawa and Endeavor) and knows AfO will have to retreat so know one else will be hurt today. Finally, he looks out and sees the faces of some of his students (Momo and Deku are crying, maybe Iida or Kirishima too) and expresses his faith in the next generation. Then he goes in for one more attack to stall AfO a little further and dies with a smile on his face, giving him the moral victory.
The world loses a lot of faith in heroes, the students all grieve, Deku and possibly others have a big dose of survivor's guilt, and Bakugou learns that you don't always have to look cool to be a hero.
I don't see any of the kids going back. Both Bakugo and Deku realized they'd be in the way. They know this villain is on a different level. Also they can't attack without permission without risking the consequences.
Technically, Bakugo can, since he said his permission was never revoked. That said I doubt he will.
What I want to see: after this Deku starts researching the previous holders of One For All to see what new insight is gained.

Lack of sound seems accurate. As far as I can tell All Might and AfO aren't really shouting so it would be hard to pick up audio.

I think it doesn't really matter if All Might's losing the fight or not, because if the kids would be there, they would be an easy target for AFO and it would just make things more complicated for All Might and Gran Torino. After all, their job was to save Bakugou and reassure the people that they were seriously about wanting to protect the students. Fighting AFO wasn't exactly part of the plan (even though both of them anticipated AFO would act, but I guess they didn't expected it happen at the same time).

Well, yeah. With All For One targetting everything but All Might, they'd become liabilities.
Hmmm, mixed feelings about this week's episode. On one hand the content and pacing were pretty good, the musical selections were great, and I really enjoyed Iida's half. On the other hand, the villains' entrance felt somewhat underwhelming and the art for most of the episode felt below average and a bit off-model. Also, for whatever reason they chose to end the episode before Shigaraki could speak, meaning that the villains' appearance is more mysterious than dreadful since we have no idea why they're there or what they're planning on doing.
Obviously they can't do this level of detail when animating, but a high quality freeze-frame shot would have been nice:

Ugh. Why would they not include his creepily long and jagged fingernails in a closeup like this? It's a detail that does a lot for characterization, and they totally ignored it in favor of generic, rounded, well-manicured nails.

Even if One-Punch Man's animation in the middle was not as good as the beginning and end, it was still great. That picture of the villains is awful. They didn't even animate noumu in there (or one of those guys is supposed to be noumu?)

I hope the budget is saved for Tsuyu scenes and Aizawa scenes as well.
The QUALITY shouldve been saved for the scenes involving the reporters, since no one care for them.
I was actually thinking of picking up the anime for this, something I haven't done in a long time(except the rare exemption of OPM). Does the lack of quality make it not worth my time? Cause I'm loving the manga so far.
The quality has been mostly pretty good and it's a very close adaptation of the manga. This (episode 9) is the first one where the manga is really noticeably superior- I've been pleased with everything else.
Overall, I thought that was another good episode, but the appearance of the villains just felt underwhelming and didn't have as much weight.

I was expecting they would use this episode to save some money because it was just the one choosing the class president. For once in my life I am sad a series have a good pace and this episode ended up also including the villains appearance :(

He did? This was the first time I can remember him stating it plainly. Plus the chapter implied he was only now realizing it had been transferred all. Before that the only other time I can think of is when was introduced and he just said "enjoy your peace while it lasts" while shifting scenes to izuku.
In the invasion arc I remember Shigaraki saying he'd been told he was weak, but figured that was due to All Might's injuries than the transfer.

I remember reading an autographical manga about an MtF transgender who went to Thailand to start the transition. Can't remember the name, though. I think it has a bit stating Thailand was common for that.
