During its peak around, I'd say elite four or perhaps just before then, it was around 100000 viewers.
Crystal started with around 50000 and dwindled to ten-twenty thousand I think.
It's all just what the community produces for art. If that doesn't get moving then the wheels don't get in motion.

I've found this around the time they were at Cinnabar in the Red run and enjoyed the end of Red+ Crystal. But now I've pretty much lost interest and I'm not following it anymore.

Yeah. Unless they do something different, I don't see how this thing is a social experiment anymore.
Actually, in the most literal sense, doing science right would involve repeat experiments.
But this was never a true experiment in the first place, and its entertainment value, based pretty much in the side fan creations, has worn down, so unless a new gimmick is introduced I don't really see this going anywhere anymore. Fad value's died out.
How about they do Fire red and use the dome fossil instead of the helix? That will produce a dedicated fanbase, possibly (nah, that would be boring). This thing has really lost its appeal and don't see it ever returning to its glory days when they were playing Red. In spite of its current reduction in quality, you have to admit it was a pretty glorious thing at one point.

Zapdos was only captured with it in what was pretty much a complete miracle. There were millions of times it really could have gone wrong between ledge antics, item tossing, and potentially throwing it at other pokemon/trainer pokemon.
This is perfect considering they are going to fail passing emerald.

I read on the reddit the other day that the streamer said he'd adjust the time as needed. It was never a countdown, just an estimate for when the gap between Emerald and random FireRed would end.

I will watch it for the most part I think. It's really a pity that I only could get into it past its prime. I completely missed the original Red run and didn't join in before the Johto E4. And yesterday was the first time I actually could watch a successful run against a fiinal boss. Yay!

All Pokemon are randomized, so their starter was a Machop (with Truant). Green got a Horsea.
