what I don't understand is why you want to buy a PSP instead of a MP3 player or a compact DVD player.
Boy I've been asked this a lot ^_^; Guess I'll answer it again. If I wanted both those features plus the ability to play some games if I have some cash to spare, why would I waste money on an mp3 player and a DVD player that can't do all three that PSP offers?
yup you sure did say that in fact you said it a couple of times and hence my statment that you arent bothered by the bad battery time,
Then…why bother bringing it up so many times.
and about the Poor quailty statment i belive i said fairly poor quailty meaning that its not crap but far from great,
the multimedia options of the PSP are in my opinion mediocre at best
Such as?
and limited(this UMD crap)
As compared to? Furthermore although until recently I would have agreed that UMD was a silly idea, the option to hook it up to a TV is quite useful.
and ill add in a quote from the editor of Cnet concerning the multimedia features that i feel sums up my feelings about the PSP as a mulitmedia platform.
-"Multimedia functionality is half-baked, especially for video"
Well, since people, (especially those who readers tend to listen to and quote elsewhere for system preferrence fodder like on forums), tend to be as accurate as movie reviews which are entirely hit and miss based on the individual. If I paid any attention to what paid reviewers said then I would have to believe crap like Team Ninja's verbal fellatio of XBox 360 (as they happen to develop exclusively for it).
In summary, I'd rather ask you than someone paid to tell me what to think.
And about quotes, that one quote doesn't really say anything by itself. It's just a statement. I suppose I could check up on that particular quote and see what else was said to support such a statement, but please don't just throw it around.
and when you dish out 400+ dollars on this thing
$400? Prices I've seen are $250. You don't think I'd buy it with games do you?
a bunch of halfbaked features
What has your experience with the so-called "halfbaked" features been?
arent nearly enough to satisfy me hence my opinion that the PSP is a fairly poor multimedia platform and if thats what you will be mainly using it for and want great quality it might be wise to buy something more suited for that purpose like a mediaplayer.
And as I've said time and again, I'm not aware of an advanced media player that if I so chose to, might use to watch movies on my TV and play Metal Gear on. A standard media player really can't offer that and would be a waste of cash compared to the likes of something that can IF someone so desires said features and options.
The closest and best competition I've seen is the Play Yan which Yoska suggested.
"You don't get the full complement of playlist and EQ features you would see on a dedicated music player"
Thank you! Some facts like that are useful and exactly what I'm looking for. Buuuut it still says nothing…. Like what for example? I'd be pissed if I couldn't simply put a song on repeat but I wouldn't mind if I couldn't make unlimited playlists.
but all this is stuff are things i have already mentioned some of it ive mentioned many times and none of it bothered you so i think a PSP will work out great for ya^^.
So why keep bringing it up? They're scattered throughout pages 1 and 2 still.
It seems that the many of you, rather than having spent serious time with the system itself and seeing its faults (ones that haven't been mentioned or ones I've been asking about in detail) and explaining them in an unbiased form, are simply just DS fans which is fine, I love Nintendo. But this is/was/never will be about DS. The closest thing it should have come to was Yoska's excellent suggestion which I'm looking into as you read this.
I apologize for posing the question to the wrong audience. Thanks for your time!
