A statement from the association said: "The GFA has suspended Sulley Ali Muntari indefinitely from the Black Stars with immediate effect. The decision was taken in the wake of his unprovoked physical attack on an executive committee member of the GFA and a management member of the Black Stars, Mr Moses Armah on Tuesday 24th June, 2014 during a meeting.
"The GFA has approved coach Kwesi Appiah's decision to suspend Kevin-Prince Boateng indefinitely from the Black Stars. The decision was taken following Boateng's vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team's training session in Maceio this week. Boateng has since showed no remorse for his actions which has resulted in the decision."
Smart move to insult one's trainer during training. Especially if you're a crucial player for the team.
Edit: I still doubt that Portugal will manage to score a goal, much less the number they need to advance.
A bit too easy, hoped for 24 games and 2 year ban
I'd say that's a fair enough punishment.
lol. It's no problem (and yes, I'm from the US). We Americans always try to be #1 in everything, always prove we are the best. We're young and insecure that way, I guess. We're not even 250 years old yet, what do you want?!
What country are you from, anyway?
Ah, young and insecure, I know how you feel. Those words fit my country so well, too, having been independent less than 100 years and such. I'm from Finland btw.
Suarez's punishment is big and deserved. Maybe third time is the charm and he learns not to bite his opponents.

It's quite fair enough. Its the longest ban ever given in a football world cup.

It's sad to read about what's going on with Ghana. They played awesome against Germany the other day and seemed to ooze team spirit, and I'd have loved to pull for them in the future. I mean they might still do fine against Portugal but it's a bit of a downer.
Good move on the Saurez ban FIFA. So glad they acted quickly and correctly. Now if only we can do something about the Qatar WC bid…
Let's go USA! I'm worried about Ghana smashing Portugal too, but maybe Ronaldo will play better today than he did against us. But it doesn't matter if we can somehow tie the Germans.
Apparently two of Ghana's players have been suspended by the team for having fights with the coach. I hate to see that kind of stuff, but I can't deny that it helps the US chances.
Podolski and schweinsteiger from the start…
in half time, on dutch television they have penaltiy shooting for woman in lingerie. its quit fun and cute to watch.
16 chars of fuck yes
And Muller powers it through.
Beckerman is walking a fine line, needs to reel himself in before he gets sent off.
Well at least Portugal will have more points than Spain.
Man these refs have been extremely one sided in calls. Despite that Germany has played a excellent defensive game.
@MDL:
Beckerman is walking a fine line, needs to reel himself in before he gets sent off.
He shouldn't be playing this game, he elbowed Meireles and should have been expelled against Portugal because of that but when Pepe yells at a guy and doesn't actually do any agression, he gets a yellow card when Beckerman elbows someone people are like "oh he elbowed Meireles beard and ruined it, tshehehe!".
Well at least Portugal will have more points than Spain.
Are we becoming like them now Smiley? as in not wanting the neighboors to do well?
Yes, we won :D
And the US advances to the next round, too.
Well it's not the way we wanted to go into the next round but we will take it.

Nah, just to say that technically at least we were "better" than the previous world champion in this world cup. :P
Woah, there goes Portugal!
So that means if we win tonight, we'll be facing USA in the Round of 16. I'm looking forward to it already .
The US just couldn't hold onto the ball. They did get some close goals though, especially towards the end. Just glad we're through, win or no win.

That is correct.
I just reliazed what an amazing player Schweinsteiger is, I have underestimate him.

Yeah the German defense (and offense) basically suffocated the USA until the last ten minutes.

Only now? hes been a great player ever since I remember him playing.
Is Cristiano Ronaldo Crying?
Was it just me or was Germany adopting a bit of a tiki taka style of play?! I saw less flank counters as compared to just holding the ball and probing the defense. Actually there was no need for counter because they were hardly getting attacked. On the other hand, Ghana Portugal was very interesting! Ghana's counters flopped at times but they gained some steam 2nd half.
Ronaldo should have probably scored around 3 goals this game.

Is Cristiano Ronaldo Crying?
Ah damn I switched off the TV. I totally forgot that he would be doing that. Oh well, Euros then…
Another European team is going home. Well, they had it coming. Similar to Spain, had they played better earlier it maybe wouldn't have come to this. See ya in 2016, Portugal. Make sure to bring your A team then.
Kinda weird how Spain, Italy, England and Portugal go home while Greece goes through.

Loukanikos Approves.
ĐŃ….
Once again hope was wasted on the hopeless. Russia goes home. Congratulations to Algeria and Belgium.
Hhahahah that lazer pointer hahaha
I'm more sad that Korea lost. That is all.
Ok, all the matches settled. Now it gets interesting
Brasil vs. Chile
Netherlands vs. MĂ©xico
Colombia vs. Uruguay
Costa Rica vs. Greece
France vs. Nigeria
Argentina vs. Switzerland
Germany vs. Algeria
Belgium vs. U.S.A.
Bolding the ones I'm going for
Yeeeesssss Belgium 9/9 [car honking]!!! Bring it on USA!!
Now let's see…
@Mrs.:
My predicitons (in some cases guesses):
Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon
Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia
Group C: Colombia, Japan, Ivory Coast, Greece
Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy
Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras
Group F: Argentina, Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria
Group G: Germany, Ghana, Portugal, USA
Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, Korean Republic
8/16… I suck :p But it has been a really surprising first round. (Although why did I pick Honduras??)
Looking forward to the Round of 16!

France vs. Nigeria

Germany vs. Algeria

I love that you're going for Chile :), We'll need all the support we can get!
My picks are
Brasil vs. Chile (obviously)
Netherlands vs. México (no hard feelings…)
Colombiavs. Uruguay (Considering if we win they'll be our next opponents… If we don't win, go Colombia!)
Costa Rica vs. Greece (Gotta love their run in this WC)
France vs. Nigeria (Title candidate)
Argentina vs. Switzerland
Germany vs. Algeria
Belgium vs. U.S.A. (I actually think Belgium can go all the way!)
My picks for the next round
Brasil vs. Chile (Don't like team Brasil so this one was easy to choose)
Netherlands vs. México (Like them both… I'll be happy now matter how this goes but slightly leaning for the Dutch on this one)
Colombia vs. Uruguay (Colombia's been really good and played entertaining Football but gotta go with my fav South American team here!)
Costa Rica vs. Greece (Costa Rica's great play has been joy to watch PLUS I really dislike the way team Greece tends to play. Boring team and I want them out)
France vs. Nigeria (Don't really care for either team but Im still sad about the disallowed goal Bosnia made against Nigeria so maybe I'll go with France on this one)
Argentina vs. Switzerland (There is no team I hate as much as Argentina when it comes to Football so go Switzerland!)
Germany vs. Algeria (Easy pick. With no Nordics in the tournament Germany is my fav team and I'll root for them no matter who they face.)
Belgium vs. U.S.A. (Tough choice. Belgium has been said to be one of the possible teams to surprise us all and do well in the tournament. Not impressed yet but maybe they start playing more interesting football now that games get tougher? Leaning on Belgium but I don't really care who wins this one.)
It´s almost over… Let´s enjoy the most now !!
Brasil vs. Chile
Netherlands vs. MĂ©xico
Colombia vs. Uruguay
Costa Rica vs. Greece
France vs. Nigeria
Argentina vs. Switzerland
Germany vs. Algeria
Belgium vs. U.S.A.
@MDL:
Group A = Brazil & Mexico
Group B = Holland & Spain
Group C = Greece & Ivory Coast
Group D = England & Italy
Group E = France & Switzerland
Group F = Argentina & Nigeria
Group G = Germany & Portugal
Group H = Algeria & Russia
10/16?
I think I did pretty damn good :)
I'll post my picks for the next round then:
Brazil vs Chile
Netherlands vs Mexico
Columbia vs Uruguay
Costa Rica vs Greece
France vs Nigeria
Argentina vs Switzerland
Germany vs Algeria
Belgium vs USA
I'm rooting for Nigeria but really we stand no chance against France so I'll just hope that they put on a good performance.
I'm hoping Chile and Switzerland manage to knock out those two South American giants, who really have not impressed me at this world cup at all, but I'm pretty sure the home support for Brazil and Messi for Argentina will pull them through. Without Suarez I don't think Uruguay are that big of a threat and I think the Columbia team are strong enough to come out of the tie with a win. I kind of hope the USA team go far in this tournament and I think they might be able to pull of a surprise win against Belgium. Nothing really needs to be said about the Germany match.

Ghanians have really short tempers.
Brazil vs Chile
Netherlands vs Mexico (Netherlands are an exception, okay)
Columbia vs Uruguay (quite fine with both)
Costa Rica vs Greece
France vs Nigeria
Argentina vs Switzerland
Germany vs Algeria
Belgium vs USA (feels weird to root for States)
Europe, this is not a tournament for you.
Brazil vs Chile
Netherlands vs Mexico
Colombia vs Uruguay
Costa Rica vs Greece
France vs Nigeria
Argentina vs Switzerland
Germany vs Algeria
Belgium vs USA
Do you know why the matchs are played to the same hours ?
because all people remember to the "game of shame" (I don't know if the name is the same in each country, in french the name is "match de la honte") in 1983 between FRG (Germany) and Austria.
Germany had lost against Algeria (2-1), so with Austria they have decided to played only passes. (they was sure to be qualified for the next step).
I hope that the next fight, we will win , we are merited to win against Germany plus that anybody in the competition, and I f*** story of "favorite's teams", it's bullshit.
it's our revenge, maybe that some people have forgot the past and this event, me no !
My picks :
Brasil vs. Chile (because Neymar is a fuckin' attacker)
Netherlands vs. MĂ©xico (I wanted that this two teams don't play between them, now.)
Colombia vs. Uruguay (the biter is suspended for all matchs of the Uruguay to this World Cup.)
Costa Rica vs. Greece (because Costa Rica ^^)
France vs. Nigeria (I'm French and this team have a good playing, thanks to Didier Deschamps.)
Argentina vs. Switzerland
Germany vs. Algeria (because, you know that!..normally germany wins >_<)
Belgium vs. U.S.A. (this two team merit to win.)
My predictions! All though i'd like to see Chile beat Brazil and Germany lose to Algeria…
Brazil vs Chile ( 3-1 )
Netherlands vs Mexico (1-0)
Colombia vs Uruguay (2-1)
Costa Rica vs Greece (2-2)
France vs Nigeria (3-0)
Argentina vs Switzerland (2-1)
Germany vs Algeria (3-1)
Belgium vs USA (4-0)
Teams i'll cheer for in the second round:the two gerias:wub:,brazil, mexico, colombia, costa rica, argentina and belgium.
So are all the points things gotten rid of now and whoever loses is out?
So are all the points things gotten rid of now and whoever loses is out?
Yep, knockout rounds now, you lose and you're out
Group A: Brazil; Croatia
Group B: Spain, Netherlands
Group C: Japan, Greece
Group D: Uruguay; England
Group E: France, Switzerland
Group F: Argentina; Nigeria
Group G: Germany, Portugal
Group H: Belgium; Russia
10/16
Meh, i´m still disappointed in Japan
Brazil vs Chile
Netherlands vs Mexico
Colombia vs Uruguay
Costa Rica vs Greece
France vs Nigeria
Argentina vs Switzerland
Germany vs Algeria
Belgium vs USA
Without Suarez, there goes my prediction about Uruguay getting to the final.
Netherlands are playing very well, but i still think they won´t have it easy vs Mexico
Greece sucks but will get through. They are gaining that bad habit.
Nigeria was not really convicing during the groups imo. France were beasts until the game they didn´t care about.
The Argentina we saw during the group phase won´t get through.
Belgium is certainly getting through. I bet my left ball.
And then
Brazil vs Colombia
France vs Germany
Netherlands vs Greece
Switzerland vs Belgium
Brazil vs Germany
Netherlands vs Switzerland
Brazil vs Switzerland
Germany vs Netherlands
