Goodness gracious me.
Great discussion, it's nice to see a number of people being so active. But it's no fun if everyone is saying basically the same thing in many different ways… It's easy for mafia to hide under the blanket of fool-hate, and it's easy for anyone who intends to become a fool to pretend that they aren't. Fool-hunting definitely has a place in this game, but to me, in terms of what we can do about it, it seems like it boils down to keeping an eye out for anyone acting strange and noting down any change in behaviour (due to a change in that person's win-con). Remember that everyone wants to bring down a Fool; only townies have real incentive to bring down a mafia. Maybe I'm just too simplistic though…
Also I'm going to throw this out there now just in case, because of the player make-up and setup, that if either cop gets a Fool report once, don't out it and yourself immediately, because it could easily be a one-time thing. A Fool report should be brought up only if the cop sees the Fool about to be lynched.
Now, let's see!
Finally another game! So, thoughts? Strategies? I'm currently at work my initial thoughts are that with cops and this whole Fool setup thing, role claiming, at least early, is a terrible idea. Saying this as someone who generally likes claiming. As much as I would love for everyone to claim and then just lynch everyone who says they are a vanilla townie, the Fool setup really makes that difficult.

You put funny emphasis on doing things differently from your previous games. I think you mentioned this in a different post, but we've had Masons and multiple power roles in games before, which you quoted as one reason why you don't want a lynch. I'm not advocating a lynch now, and your ideas do seem to have some legitimacy. You're just bordering on the defensive here, which you rarely do!
Alright, so, off the bat, I'm assuming we need to be wary of repetitive behavior. With that in mind, I'm a bit partial to lynching a less active player tonight, since I'm assuming based on my own Gotcha! and the comments of others that they're all likely some variation of the "Do this x times" variety.
For today, would you rather lynch a lurker or someone you suspect to be mafia?
@Kitty:
With that said, I have a hunch on someone, but I'd rather wait and see what they do in their next couple of posts before I point a FoS at them.
These kinds of posts always get me excited and anticipation-y but then the person rarely delivers, which makes me disappointed. So I'm going to hold this to you! With great furriness comes great responsibility.
That being said, this is pretty passive behaviour for someone who has a suspect, and for you in general. Where's the scumhunting?
@Mr.:
Mrs. Iceburg has a point. Not only mafia can use it as WIFOM, but, really, anyone can use their Gotcha as a defence mechanism. Someone can potentially use it simply to avoid leaving the game among others. I'm sure there are more possibilities on why and how Gotchas can be used; however it's still early in the day. We shouldn't worry about it too much right now. What we really need is some kind of plan of action until night comes.
Actually, the Gotcha doesn't seem like that great a defense mechanism to me, since claiming that you're a Fool could set you up as a target for a mafia kill. What I am wary about is a mafia who's being suspected or worried about being lynched that day, deciding to give up on the scum win-con and going for the Gotcha. So we really do need to look out for a change in behaviour or anyone trying to get us to post in a certain way.
Really? So anyone can be Fools??
That seems… OP
Well, the Fools don't make up a collective team; rather, they lose the team that they came into the game with. It's a lonely existence~ Plus more Fools makes it harder for each Fool to win. So it doesn't make them OP, although it does seem like it could make for a funny endgame result (like what Huschel mentioned about all townies turning fool).
I'm going to be honest. I'm voting to lynch anyone who accuses me of anything or even looks at me funny.
Well with your avatar like that, it's pretty hard not to.
Here's a question for everyone (who hasn't talked about this already): Do you advocate a lynch or no-lynch for today? Why? If one person dies tonight, ceteris paribus, what do you think you would advocate tomorrow?
