Chapter 680: "Captain of the Marine's G-5, Kichiku no Vergo"

@Mark:
Luffy knows Soru. Its called Gear 2nd. watch Luffy vs Blueno again.
Gear 2nd =/= Soru. It seems Luffy needed Gear 2nd to do Soru though.
@GoustiFruit:Oh I'm just realizing now that the theory from last week seems to be reinforced in this chapter: Luffy is panting like crazy after running, it could be because his lungs are somewhere else ?
And the correlation is…?

I also felt it seemed a little off that he was so exhausted, could be that Law took em out already. Or it could be Oda's way of showing how large the lab is. Or how eager Luffy is to kick CC's ass

I think its just a measure of how fast he's running. Remember, no one else except Law is even out of the connecting corridor yet, and Luffy & Smoker are completely through Lab B (the big one) and in Lab C. It's fair to assume they're running like 10X faster than Brownbeard is.
It also suggests Luffy might have some tactical sense, as it would be unwise to immediatly jump on Ceaser while out of breath.

I doubt it. Smoker, Law, and Monet seem to be doing just fine without their hearts, and if there were negative effects of law's fruit being used to remove organs, he probably wouldn't have agreed to put his heart up for collateral.
Also, thinking back, even that's not likely to work–if hearts removed from the body can still pump blood through it, I think CC could remove the oxygen from the air around luffy and have it still suffocate him, even if his lungs are somewhere else entirely. Law would have to remove his mouth and throat instead, since that's where the air comes in.
-
I wouldn't read too much into it, without Luffy being exhausted the joke simply wouldn't have worked. Anyway, the trail of fire is "redeeming enough", if it should matter.

If his lungs is in another place, then air could enter those lungs from that particular place, not at Luffy's location. So even if Luffy is in a vacuum, it would still work since his lungs is still receiving air.

That is brilliant! I almost wish now that I hadn't read that here…
Although, I can see problems with being able to. Well, it might work ...
The problem I see here is the limitation of the Ope Ope no Mi. If you assume that each severed part is in it's own self contained field. Then getting air from somewhere else would be impossible unless law directly puts air in to his lungs through a tube. -
Is it through that the new Chapter is coming out tomorrow instead of Wednesday, I read rumors about that…
I take it english is your 2nd language…...

There's no denden mushi inside the lab, right? It's only outside. Which means none of the brokers will actually see anything, possibly only the Strawhats leaving and CC beat up

Can't wait til next chapter… might cheer me up a bit.
Though I'll either finish at 4:45 or 1:30 :I -
I'm wondering what's going to happen Next Chapter.
–Will there be fighting?
--Will a shocking revelation happen?
--Will a new Devil Fruit be revealed?
--Will Kinemon's son FINALLY be seen?
--Will someone else show up on Punk Hazard?etc. etc. etc.

where did you hear that and when is goin to be released?
lets see if Doflamingo will appear here,i would like to see his ability vs the ope ope fruit..and also a "former crewmate vs former captain" fight would be awesome -
If Smoker and Vergo is the best G5 has, what does other vice admirals do exactly? I think at this point of story we might assume Smoker or Vergo is not the strongest VC there is. Or is it?

They are in other bases? G1, G2, G3 …. and so on. :ninja:
-
I mean since G5 is the New World and that might give us permission to think that base would have the strongest VAs…
Which would make the Smoker and Vergo most strongest admirals.
Well it seems there should be something false in my logic but where exactly? :)

umm maybe there are more bases further into the NW?

No they wouldn't, for the same reason separated Hearts can still pump blood throughout the body. Law's power means that a body part can be physically separated from the rest of the body, but still act like it is joined together. Nothing should be able to go into the lungs without going through Luffy's body first, just like if they were still in his torso.
The only way that would work is if Law cut off his Mouth or something, since that's where the actual air enters the body normally. If air could get into the lungs that way, he'd have died months ago from the air bubbles getting into his bloodstream from the exposed sections of his heart.

Prediction for 681 cliff-hanger: Law makes it to R-66 to start preparations, he presses the button that opens the hangar door, and there behind it stands Doflamingo with a DOOOONNN

-sanji loses against vergo (but, we do not see how…)
-zoro uses king's haki against the dragon
-momonosuke is a boss lobotomized ...he defeats chopper
-frankie doing sex with monet... (skull joke)please , don't quote me ... i'm retarded.

yes i misunderstood that sorry
about the g5 location:
http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-598/page009.html
i thought they made the G5 base the new headquarters, but Vergo being the boss of G5 does not fit that.so..where is the G5??ok so before the war both G1 and G5 were in the new world

I feel like its too soon for dofla.. Why would he send vergo out there if he himself was coming only an hour later? I could see another person showing up but I think it may end up being frozen people. Who knows though!
-
It hasn't been said if there was anyone else on the tanker vergo took to punk hazard ,I'm not saying doflamingos on it but yea

I've seen it several times, Luffy's speed in gear 2nd is faster than BLUENO's soru. Not faster than LUCCI's soru. Luffy probably doesn't need soru as his gear 2nd will overcome that speed gap that he has against very good soru users. However tekkai would be very useful

._. for some reason I cant think of any proof that it's not but just a nagging feeling that its fundamentally different.
has the bidding closed on Monosuke not being on this island and samurai-san follows the SH for a while à la Vivi?

Tekkai is more for defensive moves, since you cannot move while using it.(Except Jabra)

what this guy said from what we know of coa you can use it to strengthen your attacks and even attack with it like sentomaru and rayleigh did. Tekkai basically just makes the body harder and takes away any sort of movement.
-
It is also used for attacks, like Tekkai: Rin
!
And basically every move of Jabra (except his variation of Rankyaku) is enhanced by Tekkai, hence the name of his fighting style.
My guess is that Tekkai is more useful to block physical attacks and slashes, while haki can protect from "magic" or "elemental" DF damage as well.At the very least the Tekkai used by the stronger CP9 is better than Luffy's current mastery of armor haki when it comes to sharp attacks. Hody's bite managed to pierce his defense, while pre timeskip Zoro wasn't able to cut Kaku's body till the very end. And I think Zoro's swordsmenship was on par (if not stronger) than Hody's bite.

Tekkai is tightening your muscles so they are as hard as steel so that you make an iron defense whereas haki is your will power utilized to make a hard defense, or stronger attack.
-
i always understood that tekkai is a physical technique that involves contracting your muscles to make them as hard a steel, while coa is fundamentally different for it makes body parts harder by creating a shield of willpower, not involving a person's muscles and body in the process.
-
I forgot about that rin shit thought it was just some weird move
-

exactly what I thought one involves the body the other energy surrounding it created by your will

Well we won't know that it can't happen. We're still not sure the true capabilities of Law's power. Remember the animal legs given to Brownbeard's crew?
-

Tekkai is a hardening technique that uses the physical body, CoA uses the user's will. I think combining both would be SICK!
If you had paid attention you would know that Blueno specifically states that Luffy was copying CP9 and using soru.
He wasn't USING soru, he copied the speed. There is a difference, Sanji's sky walk is a version of soru. Luffy just pumps blood rapidly throughout his body allowing him to go beyond normal speed and gives him above normal strength. Soru is when the user kicks the ground/air several times in a second to move.

I'm assuming we won't have a chapter next week, because of some break or another (and this week's chapter comes out tomorrow, correct)? If so, I hope Oda leaves us with something somewhat epic–to debate about etc. etc. for a bit.

I may very well be wrong about this, but this is how I usually see it (and most of the time it ends up being the case)..

To me that means we get it tonight (early Tuesday morning between 1-8am)..I say this because normally we'd get it early Wednesday morning (for me at least-time wise), so tomorrow to me=today because I don't see it as tomorrow until I sleep (stupid, I know)..But it's usually how it works..

when was this dudes last break a month ago? hope he doesn't do it again most cliffhangers ain't got enough context to talk about except for the yonkou alliance bit.

Unless Doflamingo or Aokiji (or Sabo) show up, or the Yonko Law wants to bring down is revealed (and/or shows up). Don't lie… People would talk about that for a good week.

Sanji's Skywalk is a variation of geppo, not soru.
