I have no idea what this new (apparently hip) comic is about, but I really like the related campaigns for some reason.
Look up Gravity Falls and thank me later, Jabra.
Well, I'm here to thank you later. Still can't believe that the show is supposed to be for kids tho.Favorite scene:

! Especially because it catches you off-guard.

! Hmm, I have to wonder if it's because I have never played like ~90% of these games that this episode did not strike me as anywhere near as amusing and thrilling as most of the earlier ones have. Probably a good sixty per cent of all the references went right over my head, even if I did recognize that they were there and that I probably should have appreciated the writers putting them in the show more. The Donkey Kong level was amazing, though.
! But I don't know. All in all, it felt so one-sided with almost the entire focus being on Dipper's and Robbie's mutual hatred that the parts with Mabel and Stan seemed to only serve a purpose as extra padding and an attempt to remind us of the world's existence outside of the main scenes. I'd rather they just left them out altogether and filled the gaps with something more cohesive. Maybe with more adventurous and daringly innovative standalone jokes, like in most if not in all the other episodes. Gaming-related stuff? Mabel's personal opinion on the matter? It's a minor nitpick, to be honest, but it could have been made better with a little more effort and time. Not really my favourite episode. Decent, mmyeah maybe, but not the best.
-
Well, I'm here to thank you later.
I mostly said that in jest, but I'm glad you gave it a shot and liked it. Also, if anything, Kitsune and the others who have been running around with Gravity Falls avatars and sigs for the past few weeks are the ones who deserve to be thanked (and HEATXZ, for making the thread, of course).
I wonder how long it'll take before a "Guile's Theme goes with everything" video based on this episode hits youtube…
-
! I'm a little wary of Episode 11 because it's the second episode (first was Dipper vs. Manliness) without Alex Hirsch on writing credits,
! Wow, really? I remember him getting excited in an interview about this episode awhile back, saying he was really happy about it. Surprising he didn't write it, but it sure sounds like it turned out great from his point of view, so i'm pretty excited myself.
! Here's the interview http://collider.com/alex-hirsch-gravity-falls-interview/177795/
! He doesn't actually call it Little Dipper, but you just KNOW it is after his description. -

Yeah, Tim McKeon has the sole writing credit on that episode… Tim's done great work on the show and all but his only solo effort thus far was DvsM... but then again, I loved the jokes in that episode for the most part anyway... And the writer doesn't really affect the quality of an episode as much as one would think. After all, the same writers who did Fire+Water on Lost also did Greatest Hits, which are polar opposites on the quality scale.
Seeing how excited Hirsch is about it makes me excited though. Who knows, it might play out.
And HOLY CRAP ALEX HIRSCH IS YOUNG.

As a recent boarder of the Gravity Falls boat and as someone who watched the latest episode, I've got to say how much I love this show. Especially since they got Paul Robertson on board (The guy who made the Scott Pilgrim vs the World sprites). Tell me no one else noticed the style similarities.
-
Yeah, I did, heh.
-
This show is so bloody good. I owe you one Hiroy!
-
You are watching the show.
So, you owe me nothing.
Well, maybe some Stacy drawings :3 -
Did an official version of the Chiptune theme pop up?
-
Just gotta say that I dig the show. My favorite episodes so far are 1 & 4 (I've watched up to 4). I like how 4 introduced some in-your-face subplots to reoccur and even a cliffhanger; this would be really exciting to follow as a kid, and it's interesting to follow as an adult. I love the modern disco sound it has. My favorite parts of most episodes are usually the end blurbs, like Seuse (sp?) being lit up and turned into a disco ball.
And Mabel is so kyooooot! She brightens my day with her braces-laden dialogue of random.
e: Jesus! I'm only like 5 minutes through episode 5 and I'm howling like a hyena. This is easily my fav. yet!
e2: omg this is the best fucking episode (still on ep. 5).
e3: Perfect episode!! I love how it parodied the teenage life so well. The emo kid was particularly spot on and appropriately portrayed as a douche. Grunkle Stan watching what kids would, of course, perceive as "BORING UNRELATABLE OLD PEOPLE PROGRAMMING". 'nother spot-on parody. And then, another parody: you have the "teenage party" when they start going nuts inside the story. The consequences of that are shown, too, with Mabel tripping out on drugs. Several laugh out loud moments, then it turned very eerie with really inventive ways to mess with the kids ('specially liked the DDR arrows stabbing that one guy, and the hot dog). And then hilarious again with the lamb dance. Dipper had to make a tough choice for himself there, but found a happy middle with saying he was 12. And it ended with a melting heartwarming moment like I hoped it would. -

God I freaking love the magical effect Episode 5 has. It's like, oh man, here's this awesome show with 4 episodes that's pretty good and stuff, but it needs a little room to grow and then episode 5 nails all of your complaints and ramps it up from pretty good, to holy crap best new show of the year, and then you remember this is only episode 5 and the only way this show can go is up.
And from there you're nibbling on Alex Hirsch's candy paws because of course you are.
-
Gravity Falls is a lot of fun. The format right now is great, but I do wonder if the show would have an ongoing arc throughout various episodes or if they're going to stick with the standalone format with continuity followed through the episodes.
! For the latest episode, with the Robbie and the Tombstones reference, I'm pretty sure Robbie/zombie speculation is intentional, but after the episode I think it's a red herring. If he's a zombie, why's he freaking out over the supernatural stuff at gravity falls?
! The litter joke killed me. Was that a Double Dragon reference or just general video game shenanigans?
! The fear of heights might explain why Grunkle Stan never fixed his shop sign after episode 3. Even in this episode, the S is still not fixed on the roof.
! It does kinda suck when Mabel isn't really getting focused episodes (I hope her friends appear again soon), but I think this was an important episode for Mabel since she developed a fear of heights. I'm betting that'll play a bigger role later on.
Anyways, the creator seems to be basing this on his personal experiences, so I can kinda understand why there are more episodes focused on Dipper. Plus, Mabel has great lines even when she's not the focus. -

I'm all with you with Episode 5 being the best of the lot so far (or at least the one that sets GF's bar unbelievably high) but I always thought the show REALLY Grew The Beard at Episode 4. The starting of a myth arc (even if Gideon isn't likely to be the main antagonist) and seeing new depths of the relationship between Dipper and Mabel (Sweatertown!) is what really got me invested in the show.
-
I think my favorites were episodes 2 and 3.
Love all of 'em so far though.
-
I don't even remember alot of the episodes tbh. Especially by number. But I did like the Lotness Monster episode, The party episode, the haunted general store episode, and the time travel episode. Those are my top three. Specifically the time travel one since the president has to be the funniest character on the show next to Stan.
As for the comments on Mabel being downplayed, ypu have to understand that there are episodes that has to give more breathing room for other characters. I'm sure there's going to be a Mabel centered episode. What I'm really looking forward to is seeing an episode with Mabel further expanding her relationship with her new friends, pet and rivalry dynamics with Pacifica(and Gidgeon… but I HATE that guy). It's sort of contrasts with Dipper having some dynamic with Robbie(and his friends) and Stacy.

Ummm… wasn't the time travel episode the one with the pig, Waddles? I don't remember anything about a president. Maybe you meant the previous episode?

Oh yeah. I mixed them up.
I also accidentally called Wendy, Stacy.
My bad. -

Please mark vids like that in the future, thanks. I would have rather had Gideon's involvement as a surprise.

Yeah, same here, I prefer to avoid spoilers.
-
It's kind of hard to consider that a spoiler when Disney Channel aired that exact spot during the last episode.
-
Yikes. I'll have to avoid commercials then too, I guess.

Jeez.
Look, I'm sorry, but this really got me thinking; are we really that hung up on spoilers? There was a time, when we were kids, where we happily watched teasers for the upcoming episodes of our favorite shows to get us stoked for them. Now it's like "No, I want to watch an episode of this children's show knowing as little as possible about it, because having even the slightest bit of information about it will somehow contaminate my viewing experience."
I'm sorry if I'm sounding presumptuous, and by no means am I saying that this applies to everyone, but for those who do think this way, I implore to think about why it is you feel you need to blockade yourself from any and all information of an unaired episode. And if you have thought about it and this is a personal choice that you have firmly settled, then please understand that many of us don't feel the same way, and that many of us feel there is no harm in posting a teaser commercial that Disney is already airing regularly on their channel.
-
Got all caught up yesterday. I really enjoyed that latest Fight Fighters episode that-just-aired-on-Disney-Channel-so-I'm-pretty-sure-I-don't-have-to-spoiler-it.
Watching this comparatively violent show, then Cody Montana's Suite or whatever is rather jarring. So I'm wondering if the current show's atmosphere is a stalking horse for the latter parts of the show, whether it'll still retain its mostly episodic nature or fully involve itself with the mysteries of GF. I personally don't wanna find out early so I'll avoid reading spoilers on the deeper parts of the show. Stuff like Gideon I don't particularly care about, knew he was coming back.

Paul Robertson posted the actual sprites used in the episode. Interesting to see they added more pixelation to them.

Those are ahh-mazinggg. I can't imagine how long they would've taken… Though animation has always seemed a nigh unreachable goal for me, especially of that caliber.

It does come across a bit odd that a thread where people have openly discussed critical plot points for leaked episodes days or even about a week before it airs has about as many complaints about an actual trailer aired by Disney itself as it does actual spoilers.
-
I don't think a promotional video MEANT to reach as many people as possible counts as a spoiler. Considering if you were watching the episode by legitimate means, you would have seen this promo immediately regardless.
-
Promos to me are on the same spoiler level as an episode synopsis. It's just meant to give viewers an idea of what's to come, so I'd understand if people don't want to know anything about future episodes avoiding promos.
Ir also sucks since promos sometimes give too much of what's to come. And the plots pretty much pieced together if you read the synopsis and watch the promo, like the upcoming episode for example.

So I looked through most of the pages and couldn't find this… Does anyone know what the creator and his sister look like? It's pretty interesting.
!
Dipper you forgot your hat
! Nevermind, that's apparently his ex-girlfriend. Here's him and his sister, who looks even more like Mabel

Dipper actually comes off like a guy who would sport that goatee in his 20s so I'm not surprised in any way

So recently Michael Rianda, creative director of gravity falls has been doing a Q & A at the gravity falls reddit page. Do note in mind that it's reddit, so you get some silly questions but there are a couple of real gems in it.
http://www.reddit.com/r/gravityfalls/comments/zzyin/im_michael_rianda_cartoonist_and_creative/
Some part of me died laughing when I saw this
Waddles actually was the only name for the pig we ever came up with. Aury Wallington one of our writers, named it after her own pet pigs growing up.
Notice I say pet pigs, plural. She would raise a pig for 4H every year, and every year she would name the pig Waddles. She would raise, love, and care for it for months, then her family would cook and eat Waddles. The next year she would get another pig for 4H, name it waddles, kill and eat it, and so on, year after year.
Horrifying but true! -
Fellow GF fans, slowly but surely I am catching up.
I just saw the one where
! Dipper unleashes that video game character to fight Robbie, and it was a damn good episode. I think I got like four or so eps left, and I don't mind watching them out of order. Also, I want a pig like Waddles.

*What are you allowed to tell me about that frame in the intro to the show were the lighting flashes and Stan's shadow is all warped? (The fanbase so far has guessed he's secretly a toucan )

3. Stan is in fact a toucan.
What the-
OH GOD how did I never notice that?!
-
Yes. The spot on Waddles eye is a mark cast by the dark lord Satan himself, Waddles will soon rise up and murder the Pines family in horrifying unimaginable ways. Waddles can eat any food, but the only thing that satisfies his dark hunger is human flesh.
_Called it.

I downloaded so many variations of the opening song, I'm losing track of my favorites.

Where do you guys watch Gravity Falls? I watched the last 10 on watchcartoonsonline, but they seem to be always a week late judging by the discussions here.
Is there a more up to date streaming site?
-
I usually googled either "Gravity Falls - Episode Title " or "Gravity falls S01E0#" and then Online Stream, Torrent, or Watch Online and you find it pretty quick.
-
Yeah just google it.
Someone used to upload the episodes on dailymotion, it was great until it lasted; personally I prefer to wait for 720p releases before watching the episodes, even if it means that I'll watch 1 week after the episode's release. -
Typically, just tumblr'ing the episode title is enough to find it.
For instance, I've been hammering Refresh on #little-dipper all day, even though the usual ripper guy is out till this evening.

Oh, it's out tonight? That's good, I've been waiting for some insight into that second book.

Thank you. How do I find out the upcoming episode title?
