Either that's a joke of some sort or they're planning on padding things out a bit.
Your average thirty minute show is actually twenty-two minutes with commercials; an actual thirty minute episode would take up about forty-two minutes of airtime with commercials.
It's not long enough for them to split it into two episodes and would cause some schedule problems whenever it rolls around as a single episode because of that length.
-
You're right. Future showings have the episode running at 43 minutes. No idea how the rest of the hour is filled through scheduling, or how often this episode will show up in the future given it's odd runtime.
-
Disney fills out an hour with an eleven minute episode when they air the Phineas and Ferb specials and skip them during the regular rotation even when they air two episodes back to back.
Either it's a episode that can usually be skipped without affecting the overall storyline and that's what they'll do with this one or they'll have to cut the episode up some way. It being skipped seems more likely; well, unless they're just making it thirty minutes by showing some of the shorts with it.
-
Well, 4 minutes commercial to every 11 minutes of show is the standard. A 43 minute show with 16 minutes of commercials takes up the hour.
-
They'll probably just round out the hour with a single episode of Star vs Evil.
-
GET HYPE!
-
So, he is not their granfather?
-
Already hyped, man. Now I'm even more hyped, of course.
-
16 characters of Hype!Hype!Hype!
-
So, he is not their granfather?
The Stans are their great-uncles so Mabel and Dipper's grandfather would be their brother.
-
The Comic Con Panel's up. Trying to watch now.
-
New 3DS game! Looks cool!
-
Episode start in another 15 minutes or so. Liverstream here.
Hopefully it works, as there seem to be some problem with the livestreams.http://cinemaquestria.com/stream/–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! -So, Mabel and Dipper's grandfather is the Stans baby brother…
-Tons of past reference in this episode.(The gnomes, shape shifter, Lazy Susan's eye, Tyler etc)
-Overall, pretty good episode. I really feel the author is either going to die or disappear so that the Stan we knew can remain as "Stanford". Hopefully, they will at least be able to mend their relationship with each other before that happen.
-I also got a bad feeling when Mabel asked Dipper if they would end up like the Stans.
-In a way, I can understand how both Stan feel about each other. They do care for each other but they can't quite let go of what happen in the past.
-Grunkle Stan has made many mistaken but ultimately he cares for the twins as they are his family.
-Referring to both the Stan is going to be difficult from now on.lol I can sorta relate to Soos trying to explain to Wendy about both Stan -
! Stan will still be "Stan", the new guy will go by "Ford"
-
! The Legend of the Gobblewonker just became a lot sadder to rewatch in hindsight.
-
[hide]-Now we just need to know about the Pines twins' mother.
-
'Twas fun seeing the characters as younger versions of themselves (Sheriff, Cute Biker, Lazy Susan) and of course SHMEBULOCK… senior
-
It was great seeing the Stan Bros' backstory in general, interesting seeing how they had gotten screwed over by what was pretty much a series of accidents (Ley hitting the machine, then later causing his brother to go into the portal)
-
NOOOOO HIRSCH WHY DO YOU MAKE MABEL ASK THAT :< Now I can't get the thought outta my head. ;_____;
-
Lulz at the stinger. I wonder if Soos does that after every adventure[/hide]Now I just need to charge up my HYPE tank for August.
-
-
The newest episode aired today. Dungeons Dungeons & More Dungeons.
Feel like Hirsch has taken a lot of notes from Roiland/Harmon. A lot of self-referential jokes in the episode. Thankfully there's a lot of humor outside of that too which is what I was hoping for. It's definitely more comedy based, and I laughed quite a bit. Then again, comedy episodes change for me quite a bit (The Golf War has become much funnier upon repeat viewings).
-
Good episode.
! Centaur-taur might be one of the best visual gags I've ever seen.
-
That was a blast. Really funny jokes on nerddom in this one.
Though I really didn't like the last joke they did, over the credits. That soured things a good deal for me, and didn't feel like it gelled well with the rest of the episode
-
Loved the LARPing reference. :)
-
Just started Gravity Falls a few days ago, and I'm almost caught up now. Definitely one of my favorite animated shows already!
-
Fun episode overall. Gotta love all the self-reference jokes.
! And the drift between Mabel and Dipper is getting bigger…The secret at the end will probably strain their relationship further. No surprise that Ford and Dipper are similar to each other. Likewise, Mabel and Stan. I can relate to both Mabel and Dipper. Mabel wants to hangout with her brother but her brother's interests is just too foreign to her. Though she make fun of his interest, she desperately want to include him in her activities. So, when Dipper bonded with Ford, I guess she felt left out. Dipper want to hangout with someone who has the same interest with him. So, he was thrilled when he found one. Dipper being oblivious to how Mabel feel about him spending time with Ford remind me of the scene with Stan and Ford before their breakdown.
@Daz:

Funny enough, I actually like that joke. Though I can understand why some people won't like it. Each to his one.

The show's trying to hype up Monday's episode, The Stanchurian Candidate, by giving Stan an official twitter account for his campaign.
https://twitter.com/StanPines4Mayor
And he even has his own Campaign Song
-
Stanchurian Candidate was fun!
Now we know how Bear can be be driving!
Tad Strange was the best thing of the episode tho, I hope to see more of him!
EDIT: Apparently Tad is Cecil from Night Vale! Cool!!! -
This was one of the funniest episodes in a while. Tad Strange and pretty much everything from Stan was golden.
-
This episode is great except for one tiny issue. The meme thing got me.XD
Tad Strange is a bit of strange fellow, isn't he?While not on the same level as the love potion, the kids using the mind-controlling tie is morally questionable.
However, I guess that's the whole purpose?
The part where Soos start freaking out because he was being controlled kinda hit the point.
And Dipper "morally ambiguous" line.
And Gideon saying the twin are becoming more evil. -
Preview for The Last Mabelcorn, which will air on September 7th:
And yeah, Stanchurian Candidate was awesome. Why doesn't the US have mayor pickin' eagles? Get it, US!
-
Excited for The Last Mabelcorn tomorrow.
In the meantime, Hirsch made an appearance at Amazing Houston Comic Con and someone posted up the Q&A. I always found his interviews and Q&As pretty entertaining, and this one is no exception (I've seen clips scattered throughout youtube but this one the first that put it all together).
FYI 36:34 has Hirsch tell a very interesting Wendy/Stan B plot that will never likely come to fruition given he revealed the entire story at the con where they bond over pickpocketing. Shame it'll likely never become animated.
-
Do you think Gravity Falls will end this season or on Season 3? The creator stated that he wants no more than 3 seasons and a movie.
-
I am actually more afraid of the possibilty that they can just continue and give the Spongebob treatment without the creator.
-
But that's because 60% of Nick's money is from SS
-
! Unicorns are total dicks.
-
Finally took the time to watch all of the episodes, after seeing "not what he seems" first through watching people's reactions on youtube.
The ride matters more to me than the destination, and I had a great ride.
I also felt compelled to make a Mabel video when I was done.
