Kill La Kill
-
And its only gets better.
-
Yeah, the show did end up having the massive shift that everybody had been hoping for since it began, no, some were probably anticipating it even before the first episode.
-
Omg why I wasn't aware of the existance of such epicness.
EDIT: Special mention goes for the OST; pretty cool, the songs are beautiful and they perfectly merge with every episode.
-
I dunno how to feel about this show. It does so many things to make me angry. I've stopped watching twice now but then someone else turns this show on and I can't look away. At least that was the case with this episode.
Ryuko's situation would be a little more relatable if she wasn't angry over being a freak in front of a colossal man, a pink haired midget, and a dude who sewed his eyes shut. Who are all naked, and currently fighting the apocalypse. So your entire life has been a lie…but what was even your life to begin with? You lived in a mansion with an old man and for some reason you have no friends. You're also abandoning your current friends to die. Yeah, I believe you're not human, cause I'm not really following this character's thinking. Is the problem that I'm thinking about it?
Regardless of that, I'm looking forward to seeing this next fight. I hope they're going to go into what the heck Junketsu is. Did Ragyo brainwash Ryuko, or was it implied that Junketsu did that? If so, why didn't that happen to Satsuki? Does Junketsu have a character? I'd like to see it, these godrobes seem like the only round characters in this series.

I'm not sure how being tall, wounding yourself or having an uncommon hair color equate to being an artificial human/alien hybrid.
-
It's anime, pink hair doesn't even qualify as "uncommon".

Slightly NSFW gif:
! OK so the tagline's kinda wrong but the art's still gorgeous ~

I saw that picture used as a response to this comic:

I went long way to say this–almost everyone in this show is a weirdo. In a series with this wacky style of animation and over the top characters, there shouldn't be an angst plot line over being a freak. Whoever wrote this plot line really needed to step back and watch the show they're working on. It feels like they had to force Ryuko to act like this so she'd have a reason to stupidly charge to Ragyo and get captured.
That said, that was a great twist. I just wish they lead to this reversal fight a little better.

Sorry, I meant to say, band leader with a missile launching jet pack. I'd take an alien over her any day…

You don't seem to get the point, though, buddy. Ryuko considers herself an alien hybrid Life Fiber monster while all the other people, regardless of how freaky they may seem, are still humans. There is a huge difference.
-
Mako's voice actor is real life Mako.
-
No matter how good some of you guys can justify the fuckery that is Ryukos character, I don't think many can deny how annoying she is.
I don't know, even sometimes when I can see things through her prespective, I can't not feel annoyed by her.
Maybe I am a little biased.. or maybe I just dislike her for not being even as half as interesting as the side cast. :/
I hope her character would at least get little more tolerable after Satsuki free her of Ragyo's mind control thing.
-
Personally I don't find her irritating one bit. But then agian, I don't find characters like Nonon or Nui irritating either. Same with Mako from the very beginning of the show.
It's just weird to argue about since I personally don't watch much anime or read much manga to get what makes an amazing or perfect character in an animu. So my standards aren't as high (high standards in anime, hahaha) -

-
Are they implying that Mako will wear Senketsu as well?
-
"21 I DIE" and possibly wearing Senketsu
looks like she's gonna die (for like the 15th time)
-
Are they implying that Mako will wear Senketsu as well?
If that's the case then fuck yes!
-
Ryuko would be the one to die. Mako would wear Senketsu and become the new main character :P
-
I thought Satsuki was already the main character. At least she doesn't lose her way
-
So I caught up from episode 15 until the recent one… It was one of the best choices I ever did when watching anime. I'm all hyped up for the next episode.
Also, Pixiv is filled with Satsuki's fanart now, it's kinda fantastic.

Ryuko does suck as a villain too.
Oh well… Satsuki was pretty cool at least.
-
That was certainly an episode.
Does this mean Junketsu is gone for good? -

Does this mean Junketsu is gone for good? From the preview it seems its going to be sew again for Satsuki.
-
That episode was pretty sick. Like damn. Chills up my spine and everything.
Oddly enough, Mako and Sanketsu interrupting the false wedding dress memories made a laugh due to how adorable it was. Great scene. -
…...... What on earth were the first couple minutes of the episode
-
This post is deleted!
-
Damnit anime, for a second I thought Mako actually DID die. Trolling us till the end eh?
And what the heck is all this black liquid coming out of Ryuko anyway?
-
Cool Episode.
Way Status: Not LostAnd what the heck is all this black liquid coming out of Ryuko anyway?
The star crap? I figured that's Godrobe…juices?
-
Really not sure how to feel about this episode.
I just can't tell where they're going with Ryuko at this point.
She goes on that whole rant about not wanting to wear Senketsu and then when she breaks free from Ragyo's "spell" she wants to wear him again? I feel like there is some character development just straight up missing here unless I missed something.
-
So Satsuki/Senketsu's situation meant she had to shout out attack names? Well played, Trigger, well played.

You mean Senketsu being able to reach out to her while she was trapped, showing that they're linked no matter what and how much he cares about her?
-
What website do you guys watch KlK?
-
But she still rejected Mako inside the fake wedding memory (and by extension Senketsu since he was being worn by Mako at the time). It seemed like Senketsu's (or was it Mako's) blood washed away the fake memories. Rejecting junketsu aftwerwards was logical. However she only offhandedly implied she wanted to wear Senkets. She never so much as acknowledged Mako or Senketsu for saving her. A thank you would have gone a long way. Instead we get a "I must take off junketsu if it costs my life because that's the only way I could wear Senketsu again" when she had just said she never wanted to see Senketsu again last episode. She should have apologized or thanked him, though it'll probably just happen next episode.
Well I'm used to this series going from major plot point serious to Mako level unserious jokes so I'll just roll with it. It'll probably end up like that episode 16 cliffhanger anyways.
Also that naked scene at the start where they said "it feels good to wear clothes" felt like a bit too much. The previous bath scenes had nothing more than blatant excuses but at least they didn't use this kind of language.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Underwater's blog which is dedicated to subbing KLK.Horriblesubs (CR rips) also do it but for some reason they skipped a few episodes.

I thought that her saying she wanted to wear him was her way of saying sorry and thank you or did it really have to be spelt out at that particular moment.
Its still not cool that she could even try and kill Mako. Not cool at all. I was kind of hoping Mako would make a serious appeal to her, where it would be her seriously talking and not this Hallelujah stuff.
-
It didn't have to be spelt out.
But, well I would rather she calmed down and said thank you rather than staying in cocky or rage mode 100% of the time and just switching targets when she's saved. -
Another strong episode. It's been a fun ride for those last few weeks.
-
Oh, this series. I think it's problem really comes down to how it handles transition from serious to comical and vice versa. Even the fanservice, like some here said about week(s) ago. The thing is, when using nudity as both fanservice and symbolically in the same series, it has to be very carefully used. It'll come off as fanservice, if that's done poorly or not regarded. All of the Ragyo scenes are about how she wants people to feel uncomfortable and make them cover themselves with clothes. Symbolic meaning. But then there are the kamui transformation scenes which are clearly played for fanservice with the breast bouncing and all. So what are you supposed to think of the scenes that apparently aren't supposed to be played as fanservice, as they have serious context, very much like the scene at the start of episode 21? Thinking about it, that's the problem. Not the nudity itself. It doesn't help that the director is the one of Gurren Lagann and Panty and Stocking, both series really direct about their fanservice. Why should it suddenly be taken seriously?
I think Mako's rants have been really poorly placed, too. I don't hate her character, have liked some gags with her and everything involving her and Gamagoori, but there is still a lot of annoying about her to me, I felt the same with this episode. I defended Ryuuko, but now that I think about it, the "progress" with the full synchornization should've been skipped because her outburst maybe would've felt a lot more natural that way. I'm also still annoyed about how at one second the animation is nicely fluid keeping with the cartoony designs and all and then there are just stills and occasional QUALITY. That's not style, that's poorly divided budget. Naturally, dunno what the final episodes will bring, of course. I've gotten through the series so far, so I'm obviously going to finish it.
-
I personally think it's kinda sad to stick to the show this long and still be confused to why you are watching it in the first place. Then again, I drop series very easily and don't fancy repeating my insufferable agony in a message board thread every single week(sorta like the usual in the Naruto/Bleach thread).
-
The thing is, I have enjoyed parts of it, I don't hate it despite my criticism, Ive even defended it in this thread several times. The music is great, the suspense and certain twists have been done really well, even if they are predictable; I like that it balances fanservice with manservice and is so self-aware, parodying many anime clichés. Otherwise, yes I would've dropped it. I'm not one to keep with stuff I truly hate, usually, even if I've finished some series I have disliked.

I've come to the point where I simply limit myself to enjoy each episode as I do every week, while I silently laughing at the sheer ignorance of a few.
-
Personally I don't hate the series. I think the series is pretty great. I'm just not a big fan of Ryuko herself.

Same here.
After that fanservice debate a few weeks ago I've decided to just enjoy the episode, post my reaction, and leave it at that. Starting to discuss why this isn't that and why this can't be interpreted as that etc etc only leaves a bad aftertaste in my mouth and makes me associate a great episode with negative memories. There's really no need for that.
-
Not gonna lie. I almost had a heart attack when Ryuuko cut Mako down. I thought for a brief moment she killed her off for real.
-
Same here. I blame those fans using that Mako glasses thing agian.
-
This series really is missing the death of a main character. With the Mako death fakeout this is becoming even more apparent to me
I like almost everything about this show but the pacing is definitely off. I just don't feel the shit just got real moment even with all the life fiber invasion and secret revelations coming out the wood works.
4 more eps left I believe -
I haven't posted on this thread at all, but I've watched every episode. I like this show!
I don't like how Mako's rants come at the most serious moments. She's a comic relief character at best. Why the hell do they keep on throwing her in?
other than that, nothing else I can really think of to dislike about the series.
-
-
Why the hell do they keep on throwing her in?
Because's she's important. And great. Also great.
-
She's Ryuko's voice of reason, believe it or not.
