I'd be VERY surprised if this came out in english. I think the last PSP game released in english was Dissidia 2 a few months back. This'll take a few months. longer if it's an RPG. Would they bother to release it on a dead console? (or at least a console that's been on it's last legs for a year now)
Been looking forward to a RPG for OP for some time. Will be even happier if it gives you the option of choosing your crew/party.
Hope I've still got my PSP, why the PSP? Couldn't it be on the 3DS or the Vita (not that I have either of those).

But, I'm surprised this was still announced. Back when Gigant Battle was first talked about, they said there was a PSP game, too, but since it's been so quite around it for so long, I thought it was dead.
Is the PSP region-blocked? I assume not, but if it is then that could be a problem. I mean I'm kinda hoping "Pirate Warriors" does well here in North America so that Namco Bandai says, "Hey this didn't bomb so there's a market for One Piece games here". If every English-speaking fan goes ahead and imports the English version from Europe, and the America release does bad, then they'll say, "Fuck it, let's not release more".
I'm just bringing it up cuz it would be cool if awesome "One Piece" games come out on any system, region-locked or not. And what if an awesome game comes out on a region-locked system and Namco Bandai doesn't see an incentive to release it here? Well that makes things harder.
Enough about that, this is kind of like the "One Piece" game I've dreamed of materializing since I got into the series. An RPG based directly on the manga storyline, wicked awesome. Can't wait to hear and see more details.

Ever since Unlimited Cruise I think Europe has gotten all the "One Piece" games that have followed. In that case then no it is not 100% certain there won't be an English release.
So even if there's not American release you'll probably be able to play it in English without getting another PSP :)

Europe didn't get Gigant Battle 2 yet.
The problem that they have is the fact it's on the PSP. I don't even think many places sell the PSP in general anymore. Most took away space for that in order to promote the 3DS and Vita. Dunno how it is in the rest of Europe but in the UK I certainly get the feeling that the PSP is either on it's last legs or already dead. I somehow doubt that Namco Bandai would risk releasing a niche game onto a console where there's very little market for it. I'm not saying it won't happen. I just can't see it. It's not like Japan where mostly everyone already has one due to Monster Hunter.

Such a good name for an RPG! It has a very small chance of being released, have any groups ever translated any PSP games or even One Piece games for that matter? There are a load of One Piece games which I'd love to play such as the GBC RPGS, but I don't think anyone has attempted to translate them.
Looks interesting. I'm guessing it will probably go from East Blue to Marineford/Fishman Island.

Nope. Unless you have some hacker friends that can reconfigure a PSP and connect it to a PS3, then it's not possible.
This will never get released in North America, the PSP market has been deader than dead for several years. Best bet is for a European wide release with English support, as PSP is region-free.
I can't take much more of this. This past week has seen so much stuff get revealed, my wallet keeps getting cranked open wider and wider. I don't particularly care if this gets any kind of english release, because the first impression is that this is going to be the first game in a long time to run through the events of the series from the beginning which means I already understand the story and characters. Kaizoku Musou doesn't really count and you know why, don't even pretend you don't.
If Sony really wanted to sell the Vita in Japan this wouldn't be released on the PSP at all. Very poor choice by the developers as well as Sony.

well i guess this is reason to actually play my psp. I'm just wandering how they're gonna do this storywise. Are they can alter the marineford arc to have everyone there or will you be forced to use luffy only with buggy et al as assist.
There are 9 boxes in that middle screenshot with luffy and what looks like a profile so i'm gonna go out on a whim and say thats how you look at character stats meaning all 9 strawhats will be playable

This. If Kaizoku Musou sold like what 60,000 PS3s (and the PS3 has been out FOR YEARS) then imagine what a One Piece Vita game could do for Vita sales. I still think it's great we're getting a One Piece RPG but I dunno, I'd prefer it for the Vita. Especially with how much stronger it is.
I think it's purely out of cheapness on Namco Bandai's part. Just looking at their upcoming games I see they have a Toriko game, Hunter x Hunter game, SD Gundam G Generation, a Pokemon esque 2 version Gundam Age game, a Kuroko no Basket game, a Gundam/Kamen Rider/Ultraman crossover game, a game for something called Kokoro Connect which I've never heard of before, and now a One Piece game, all based on animes (with the exeption of Kamen Rider and Ultraman), and all on PSP. Though the Gundam/Kamen Rider/Ultraman crossover is also on 3DS. The others are all PSP only. I really just think they're being cheap and are pushing out below average anime games on the PSP because it's the cheapest to make games for.

Bingo.
Now granted, the Vita is new enough that they may have started developing this before they were ready for that, but on the whole, one of the reasons the Vita (and the 3DS) are having such slow starts is that the scale of the game industry in Japan is such that the cost/time requirements to push the newer systems is outside of their comfort zone. Handhelds are much easier to sell/play in Japan based on the commute time/public transport and the amount of time people spend outside of the house, whereas in NA it only exists for crappy ports/spinoffs of console series and sports games, while most people seem content to use their phones for quick entertainment, then play legit games on the TV at home. So it's up to Japan to drive the Vita/3DS, but the increasing hardware power means it costs more to deliver leading games, and Japan's game industry just isn't big enough to support many of those. Japan hasn't come up with any new powerhouse franchises in years, and SE destroyed FF by taking 5 years to make a dud, and they've wasted at least 5 years dicking around with Versus. So instead the trend is shrinking back to stuff like this: cheapo titles for an ancient platform that everyone owns.
This doesn't mean I'm not all over the game, because I love RPGs and I fully intend to enjoy the hell out of it.

The Psp is definitely NOT outselling the 3DS, not anymore.
