Some more recent foreshadowing would be the straw hats doing a group attack at Oz. Early on in Thriller Bark the straw hats had a group attack that took out quite a few zombies. It was their "600 Million Beli Jackpot".
Oda's foreshadowing. (Spoilers)
-
-
Well Cindry's orginal soul remaining a little bit in the body and Robin's comment on it may be a foreshadowing. She said she never looked into it before, but she may now. It may be part of the grand mystery in the OP world or something.
-
It was probably already mentioned by someone else before but just in case:
in one of the SBS corners Oda drew the 11 supernovas as children and he drew Capone this way:
!
This was way before revealing his DF.

We saw how his DF worked way back in Sabaody.
And it was pretty obvious it was based on a castle.

guys look at what Oda says about Sanji

was it a coinsidence or did Oda plan this all along
Reminds me a bit of a manga I once read called Uzumaki, which translates to spiral, where everything that happened has to do with spirals… Anyone else read this creapy piece of art?

I remember it… well partially. I recognize the name and a hint of what creapy atmosphere it had.. and the scary gal that seemed so cutesy but seemed crazy over cute stuff "Kawaii! Its so cute!" ...but that was red herring for some real scary stuff and was part of the mystery of the missing people and some murders too I think. ... I don't remember the ending though.

Not to spoiler you if you'd like to reread this eary mindfuck but it ends like it should. In a spiral.
I literally saw spirals everywhere after reading it and it disturbed me more than it should have. -

guys look at what Oda says about Sanji
O: Hey!! You, sit right there!! Now listen!! Everyone lives in circles!! The sun, the moon, and the earth all spin around!! And!! If the earth suddenly stopped spinning!! It would be a disaster, tidal waves everywhere!! Now remember that Sanji's eyebrow channels that circular energy!! Reflect upon this!! You may go!!

Interesting when you plus that info with Oda's comment about Sanji being better at Kenbunshoku.
Sanji will enter into Sennin-mode, absorb the energy of the enviroment thanks to only listen to it and becomes a SUUUPER frog that defeats anyone and only needs Nami's kiss to come back… he stays as frog. -

As sad as it seems, I think Perhona might not be a potential crewmate you guys.

Don't crush our dreams like that…
-
But if not her, who else could join instead?
Don't forget the potential new crewmate has to have good chemistry with the other crewmates as well as the environment such as the Sunny's doors.

The crazy thing is that 10 years ago, we were at thriller bark lol how time flies, holy shit.

I doubt that was a hint towards the musketeers on Zou. Oda often uses a single source of inspiration for multiple concepts in the series. He probably doesn't even remember that quote. Or it might be exclusive to Viz.

I think he meant Nami seeing dragon as cute. Later on Zou Robin went crazy for Dragon that was drawn by Kinemon. At least thats impression I got from Kaizoku_Ou post.

That makes even less sense. There is no need to foreshadow a gag reaction as minir as that. And Robin has liked cute things since Thriller Bark. It's just Oda making female Straw Hats girly for the sake of beinh girly just like howbthe guys always get crazy over robots and ninjas while the girls blankly stare with disinterest.

It might have been more subtle joke alike to guys from crew loving robots.

Robin doesn't like cute things.
Nami, Vivi or Perona like cute things.Robin finds weird and scary shit cute. Like the Cerberus in Thriller Bark and Kanjuro's dragon.
That's Robin's funny side. -

That's Robin's funny side. She thought about cute cats in Thriller Bark. She literally said that Ryuunosoke was cute. She told Franky to shut up in Punk Hazard because his facial gestures were making Chopper's face look ugly.
Just the fact that you mentioned Nami, Vivi, and Perona all like cute things already shows how Oda likes to characterize men and women with stereotypical generalization gags and interactions with barely much diversity.

Dude, re-read my previous post. You missed what I was saying. I even said she found Ryunosoke cute.
Robin likes "cute" things, but what she finds cute is not what the other girls find cute. That's what sells the joke.
When she shed a couple of tears for Ryunosoke it was funny because she liked him so much, and it was funny that she like him so much because he was such a crappy drawing and she was the only one to find him cute. You really think these cats fall into the standard cute?
!
Those cats are weird as shit, son.
This is a cute cat!
Chopper kinda is the exception, altough we've seen many instances where Chopper wasn't regarded as cute but as scary due to him being a very rare and strange creature.
Nami, Vivi and Perona are the kind of girls who think Sailor Moon is a cute show.
Robin is the kind of girl who thinks Hunter X Hunter is a cute show. -
The joke about Robin isn't that she finds things to be cute that other girls don't, but that it's surprising how such a stoic, dark women likes thinking about cute things. Ryuunosoke being a bad drawing is the most major part of the joke, but it still fits into that. And he still is actually cute and admirable.
Those cats looking stretchy is just an artistic liberty. They're still cute. If another character came in on the corner to diss Robin's thoughts as being weird and scary/ugly, then it would be meant to illustrate that Robin thinks of weird creatures as being cute. Even Pekoms is regarded as cute by both Luffy and Carrot when he takes his sunglasses off.

Dude, everybody thinks about everything. Happy things, sad things, funny things, cute things, dark things, etc, etc.
They simply have different standards for them, that's how you make good characters.I don't think we have a decent male example, I mean Law and Zoro don't react as loudly as Luffy, Usopp and Chopper to beams, robots or ninjas, but they still care.
But everything Robin has found cute was also found scary, disturbing or even cool by other characters but never cute.I never said Ryunosoke (rip) wasn't admirable or that other characters didn't like him (hell, I loved that hardworking rascal) but that's not relevant to him being cute or not.
Everyone was saying the drawing was awful, like all the other pictures Kanjuru does, but Robin was the only one who found it cute. And those cats are not cute, just because they're cats that doesn't make them cute by default. It's not about them being stretched it's their expressionless faces. (the longcat is still a cute cat despite being quite long)
See the example I posted, look at the freaking difference betwen when Oda wants to draw the cutest little critter and when he drew the kind of cats Robin finds cute. -
I just wanna say that FolhaS' arguments should put someone behind iron bars.
They are that bad.
-
And Robin's standard is to think about cute things as a gag. Which helps make her a good character.
Not really besides the Cerberus. And even then, the whole atmosphere of that scene was how it was intimidated by all of the non-weaking Straw Hats. So Robin saying that it was cute instead of being afraid was moreso towards making the Straw Hats look scary from its perspective. Not that this type of reaction from Robin can't ever be seen again. It would be a bit funny lol.
But he is cute though. Cute things in the eyes of this series are meant to be regarded as cute by female characters. That's the bar has consistently set. Of course none of the guys are going to find Ryuunosoke cute, because it's not "masculine" for guys to find things cute in terms of One Piece's target young boy demographic. If Nami was there, she would have had either no reaction or would have thought it was cute like Robin, similar to how she thought the Punk Hazard dragon was cute.
It's obvious that they were brought in to elicit cuteness though. It doesn't matter whether you personally find them cute or not, because there's little to debate on the point of why that was brought up. Do you really that Oda is going to draw every member of a species in the exact same way when trying to get a specific response? And it's a thought bubble, so it can of course get away with looking a bit surreal.
-

Son, you do not get make claims like that and walk away.
You gotta bring reasoning to the table and explain your point of view, otherwise there's no point in public forums.

That's not the standard I was talking about.
I meant, personal standards like What is cool? For Zoro that would be a sword but for Robin that would be an old book, because of personal tastes. Like a sense of humour, there is also a sense of beauty/cuteness.Robin has always been portrayed, as you said, as a dark woman.
Part of her character's theme is "darkness". From her past as the Devil Child, always going for the most morbid conjectures, the usually dark clothes (altough both the clothes and Robin have been getting lighter as the series progresses and the character develops). Robin is the scary woman, she likes scary and weird things.Ryunosuke (gone too soon man, just too damn soon) is not cute by usual beauty standards, but he his loveable and I think you're confusing the terms.
If Nami was there and had no reaction then that would prove my point. And you just said Luffy also found Pekoms to be cute, you're kinda creating a double-standard.And yes, that's what artists do. And Oda is a damned good one.
Compare how Oda drew the dragon Nami found cute to the one slayed by Zoro. Same species, same place, meant to elicit different views so they get different expressions.
If Oda wants to draw really cute kittens that's what he does, if wants to draw weird cats that's what he does. We've seen it many times on the series right from the start, compare Helmeppo's dogs that terrorized that village to Shuu that was trying to defend his late owner's shop in the next arc. Or even the dozens of beasts that show up being ferocious and after a couple of smacks look much kinder, simpler and cuter.Hell, look at this week's chapter. Look at how Carrot drew people, they literally look like they're from Sailor Moon.
Most girls in OP think cute is Sailor Moon.
Robin thinks cute is Hunter X Hunter. -
Son, you do not get make claims like that and walk away.
You gotta bring reasoning to the table and explain your point of view, otherwise there's no point in public forums.
I saw Monkey King himself do not needing to point out the obvious here, but let me point only two single points:
@FolhaS:Robin doesn't like cute things.
Nami, Vivi or Perona like cute things. And then you said it:
@FolhaS:Robin likes "cute" things, but what she finds cute is not what the other girls find cute. That's what sells the joke.
The fact that you said Robin know what a cute thing is and she likes it contradicts what you first said it. And cuteness always has been something subjectively.
Hell, look at this week's chapter. Look at how Carrot drew people, they literally look like they're from Sailor Moon.
Last week's chapter son.
Most girls in OP think cute is Sailor Moon.
Robin thinks cute is Hunter X Hunter. Why are you repeating the same thing again?

What as Monkey King got to do with anything here?
Speak up with your own mind, if need to know what MK thinks I know where the message button is.Yes, i could have used the quotations marks better but I don't think it was too hard to understand what I was saying.
Robin, like all the girls in the series likes cute things, but what Robin finds cute is not the same that Nami finds cute.
It's joke within a joke, like how Law still likes ninjas but his stoic and reserved nature makes him react in a much calmer manner than Luffy and that becomes funny. A joke within a joke.Cuteness and beauty are in the eye of the beholder yes but there are universal standards.
Puddin and Smoothie are pretty while Lilin and Brulé are not. How you rank Puddin, Smoothie, Nami, Viola, etc, in terms of beauty is up to you, to your personal standard, but they are universally recognized as beauties, a social/universal standard.
The same goes for cute things, kittens, puppies, babies, are recognized as cute, unless Oda decides to draw a weird blank expression on their faces. Babies are cute but look at baby Duval, he was drawn ugly because it was a joke.Last week's chapter, my bad.
I repeated it because it's the simplest thesis of what I'm saying. It makes for a better discussion if you understand my point of view.
The responses I got after the first time made me think you hadn't yet understood it so I though a small repeat would help. -
What a strange thing to argue about.

Tell me about it. Out of all the interesting things to debate about, it's over understanding an obvious recurring gag. An obvious recurring gag that isn't even funny.

Hey, it's a OP forum, what's there to argue about if not all of it's vicissitudes?
But you're right in one thing, it's an obvious gag, for both of us. I guess we're just seeing different jokes.
Btw, I think I mentioned Perona also liking cute things earlier but her idea of cute also has a bit of gothic, also because of her theme. -

Perona's is a bit specific towards gothic animal themes. In fact, I kind of think your definition of Robin's cute quirk actually goes for Persona since these animals that are sewn together and so disturbingly unlike the real genuine articles are what is unexpected and ugly as the joke. I mean, just look at the man faces on those black rabbits to the left, if that's even what animal they're supposed to be. XD

Oh my freaking God. I hate typing up Perona because my autocorrect always changes it to Persona and gets links/images to the video games series to pop up. XD
Also, Robin needs new material. And the scene where she tells Franky to shut up is a bit funny.
