Yes, theoretically every character has a chance, but so far no indication was given that she will join. We might as well discuss Brownbeard, he is much more likely to join than Bonney.

Now these points do not necessarily have to lead to her joining the SHs, she also very well could have an antagonistic role or become an ally for one arc/saga like Kinemon or Vivi but it is undeniable that she will play a big role in at least one upcoming arc. Quite frankly though, she has the highest chance of already introduced characters besides Jinbe to join the SHs at one point. That does not mean much since there are not many probable candidates but it is at least something. So in the end, your comparison to Perona, who already had her role, and Dragon, who obviously will have his appearance in an already established capacity, is, excuse my language, quite stupid.

Nobody claimed otherwise, at least not me. I said that she already has a lot going for her than most of the other characters, especially Supernova (except Law and Kidd but they have been introduced as rivals) and that she is set up was an important character that will play a role at some point. The way she is set up though makes it possible for her being a candidate for NN but in the end, nothing is certain at this point. For example, it is probably more than a coincidence that she hates both BB and Akainu, the two guys who caused Luffy´s Ace trauma and that she also lost someone really important to her in the war, namely WB(reason for bonding between Luffy and Bonnie). It is also apparent that she either still has to escape or already escaped the WG and now needs help. I agree with you that not all people who are against the WG would and will join the SHs but is also undeniable that Luffy, Robin and Franky are not really against the WG like the Revolutionaries, they have a much more special and personal relation to the WG. For example, i doubt that there is someone else out there who 1.) had a blueprint for an ancient weapon, 2.) is the only person who can read Poneglyphs and thus can uncover the mystery of the Void Century and 3.) is the child of the criminal who leads the Revo Army. Judging from Akainu´s statement Bonnie´s relation to the WG could be as special as Luffy´s, Robin´s or Franky´s.

First things first I get what you mean when you say that you dislike people saying ______ for nakamate with little to no reasoning. You may not have seen it on the forum at the time but there were a few people who were saying "three eyed girl for nakama" a few months ago based on the fact that she was a girl and looked slightly miffed in one panel. But I think Baby 5 is a bad example of that especially when you offer Bonney in comparison.

Saying that she could be the maid is a bad reason yes but I also see a lot in her brief moments that make her a better candidate than Bonney. Bonney's biggest problem is and always will be her power, it's not just hax it's boring. From what we've seen of it so far she's not limited to altering her own age (this would be fine and could work well as a power) but she can alter the age of any other person essentially she could walk up to any powerhouse, make them a baby and kick them in the face and that would be dull. Not only this her power has been shown to work on groups. basically her power is too powerful and dull, it wouldnt work long term in the story. Baby 5 on the other hand appears to have an extremely interesting power, she fights with a variety of weapons meaning that Oda would have a lot to play around with in fights making them interesting and they could be used for general adventuring in intriguing ways. Also as she's only just been introduced Oda can easily impose limitations on Baby 5's power that he can't limit on Bonney, he can stop a powerful fruit like Baby 5's becoming a hax fruit like Bonney. Basically Baby's fruit lends itself to storytelling much better than Bonney's would in the context of being a member of the SHs.

I know that I've just bashed Bonney's fruit but that's not to say that I don't think it doesn't have a role in the story. My problems with Bonney's power is that week in week out it would be too powerful and too boring and would be a hindrance on her as a character but it would be perfect as part of a larger story involving the WG and the ability to alter the ages of some powerhouses who are getting on a bit. I, like you, see Bonney having a large role in this story but not as a Nakama, I see her role being fulfilled as a background character in a larger storyline who doesnt need to fight.

I don't want you to read this and think I'm saying that Baby 5's gonna join despite my liking her power and design I havent seen enough of her yet to be able to make that kind of judgement, no-one has but she could be the female character I think the SHs are missing. Look at Fishman Island, the only two SHs who didnt get a proper fight were Nami and Robin, the two girls. I for one would like to see a female Nakama who's out there every arc kicking ass! I'm not saying that Baby 5 is that person but she could be where as Bonney can't.

I would like to make a comparison to Robin´s power. The moment Robin was introduced was really impressive, she pretty much overwhelmed almost the entire SHs and later on we saw her beating Pell and Tashigi etc. with ease. Her power back then was also called hax, that she easily could beat anyone by twisting their neck or disarm the opponent etc. . Later on though, restrictions were introduced, namely that she can not overpower a physically strong opponent. From that moment on she was pretty much reduced to eliminating fodder. The same restrictions exist for Bonney´s ability. She can take care of fodder with her ability but the big boys (VAs and superior) will not be affected by her ability because of CoA which can protect them. That is also why characters like Bonney, Perona or Foxy could not fight any strong opponent solely with their DF. Of course you could argue that Bonney in the end would be another female who just takes on fodder and i would not disagree.

I know Luffy said he wanted a 10 member crew so does that mean he only needs one more nakama or is he including himself (which I think he is), which means Jinbe is the final crewmember if he does join (I'm hoping he dies beforehand). Any evidence pointing to if it's 1 or 2 more members, hopefully when the next person joins Luffy clarifies with a statement like "now the crew is complete" or "one more and I'll have my 10 member crew".

I would prefer if Luffy didnt state anything like " Ok now we are ready no more crew members or nakamas". Even if there was a forshadowed number this isnt the competition "Who wants to be the PK next nakama" with 10 seats only. Come on Luffy`s 19 years old and has a huge world of seas up before him. So far we have only been to EB and 1 of the 7 paths of "Paradise" in the Grand Line. It seems restrictive to reduce the number of nakamas based on forshadowing. Why?. Well, if there would be more than the number given in said forshadowing panel then I could see the uproar of people saying " That wasnt what panel X, Y, Z stated"

Wow, again, you still do not understand what i am writing here. I never said that your points are irrelevant for someone to join, the opposite is obviously the case. I only said that Bonnie is setup in a way that those points can easily happen. Reason for interaction with the crew and especially Luffy could be easily that she interacted with and hates both BB and Akainu and lost someone in the the war just like Luffy, they could easily bond over something so important just like Jinbe and Luffy bonded over waht they have been through together. Jinbe got invited, did we receive any profession or dream? No, because those things can always be introduced later on.
Next, i never said that every SHs has to have a relation to the WG, i only said that those who have an extremely unique relationship and past with the WG somehow end up in the SHs. Does Dragon have another son? Probably not, does someone else, who has/had blueprints for an ancient weapon, exists? Again, probably not. Did anyone else survive the massacre of Ohara and can read Poneglyphs? As far as we know, Robin is the only one in the world who can. Akainu´s statement highly suggests that Bonney´s relationship with the WG is similar to the ones of Luffy, Robin and Franky.
Next, you treat the possible joining of someone like they just have to fulfill certain conditions on a checklist and then they are good to go but you completely ignore how characters are presented and setup. Yes, Brownbeard fulfills some of the conditions but every idiot could tell you that he obviously is not setup as a NN.

Franky - leader of notorious bounty hunters in Water 7 -> had to leave them because of his bounty but also because of his dream
Jinbe - captain of the Sun Pirates -> wants to leave them and go on adventures with Luffy
Bonney - Supernova and captain of her own crew - her crew got either annihilated or captured, she is either on the run alone or still has to escape

You're right I think I did make an overt assumption about her power, I had no way of proving that it could work against stronger characters. As for the Robin comparison I see exactly where you're coming from but I don't see where any limits could appear on Bonney's power like the ones that were imposed on Robin. The limits imposed on Robin restrict her ability in combat and could lead to having a chance at fighting someone where as the limits on Bonney mean that she can only fight fodder. Like you said we'll have another female in the crew who fights fodder, and I don't think that's good for the series.

More than a tragic past or a dream, which can be introduced later on (Robin for example), initially the 2 most important things for someone to be considered a candidate for NN are these things:

1.) Luffy has to be interested in the person, whether it is the personality, the power or the appearance
2.) A bond between the candidate and Luffy (the SHs) has to be established, whether it is due to a common past, a common enemy or fighting together.

1.) Luffy was immediately interested in Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji because of their personality, in Brook and Chopper because of their apperance and in Robin, Franky (though this was more as an enemy), Chopper and Jinbe in Impel Down because of their abilities. This is also why i do not consider Monet or Kinemon or Brownbeard a candidate since Luffy essentially did not give a fuck about them. Bonney´s whole behavior and especially her DF are things that could interest Luffy immensely (the emphasis is on could). Her DF is pretty much predestinated for comedic relief.

2.) More importantly (especially in context with Bonney) is the bond that is created between the candidate and Luffy. Usopp and Luffy bonded due to their fight against Kuro but also due to the fact the Usopp is Yasopp´s son. Luffy and Jinbe bonded because of their common enemy and their common goal, namely saving Ace. Luffy and Chopper bonded because of their fight against Wapol but also because of their shared love for pirates (I just stop here for the other SHs). Bonney´s relationship with WB or Ace or both, and their shared hatred or at least dislike for both BB and Akainu makes it so much easier for the two to bond, so this is the first advantageous setup. The next one would be her need to escape the WG (see the Supernova TS picture). She pretty much needs help against a huge organization like the WG, especially since she seems very important to them (Akainu´s statement would not make sense otherwise, her statement that a pirate helping someone is weird would also be very ironic).

are you refering the Q&A in the SBS where the guy who asked the question said kumas DF would fit that pattern?
I have been thinking about that myself, kuma has the Nikyu Nikyu no mi ant i came up with the idea that maybe the DF of the next nakame would be the Kyuni Kyuni no mi.
But i dont know if that has a meaning in japenese at all ^^

Monet would most probably be a good choice for the new nakama. Because, every female member of the straw hats was a former enemy (or at least member of an enemy crew).
Nami -> Arlong Pirates
Vivi -> Baroque works
Robin -> Baroquee works

They all have, lets say, more intellectual Positions in the crew.
Nami -> Navigator
Robin -> Archeologist

Their flashback of their tragic past, happened a while after their joindate.

So if Monet is an Astronomist and as she said, thretened by DeFlamingo, I see it happen that Luffy offers her help and DoFla is the next main enemy and her tragic past will be revealed soon. Maybe Dofla kidnapped her sister/brother/family whatever…

Also, a few of your facts are wrong. Luffy was very interested in Kinemon. I mean, the guy can talk through farts. That's the type of stuff Luffy likes. But Luffy doesn't have to be interested in the person at first in order to accept them in the crew. Take Vivi for example. She started out as a bad guy. Then, she became an ally. Luffy and the entire crew was ready to accept her as a nakama, but she just declined in the end. Also, Robin. She was also a bad guy that Luffy fought and had seemingly no interest in (he never even asked her to join) but he was totally chill about her joining the crew.

A common bond has not been established between the SHs and Bonney, especially since Luffy has never met her face to face. Even if we're talking about future events, Bonney has a HATRED for the WG. Luffy doesn't. They might end up being allies in some big fight, but her feelings wouldn't resound with Luffy or fit well with the rest of the crew.

You answer totally misses the point of my posts. Did i ever say that the bond is established? No. Did i ever say that Luffy has to be interested immediately in them to be his nakama? No. I said that the setup is there for Bonney to bond with Luffy, obviously it has not happened yet but the possibility is definitely there. Luffy does not have to be interested in them as potential nakama but interested in them in general. Vivi has become the reason for him to meet and face a Shichibukai and thus has picked his interest. Later on, him and the SHs bonded with her. Robin has picked Luffy´s interest when she was on the boat after Whiskey Peak, both with her powers and her behavior. Kinemon on the other hand was only interesting for Luffy when he was Leggy. After that Luffy did not even look at him twice.

You guys answer my posts like i said that is definite that Bonney is a candidate. I never said that it is certain, it is a possibility and the setup can easily support that. I still remember when Brennen post his theory about Jinbe being a possible candidate for NN back in 2009 when we first met him in Impel Down. Everyone pretty much laughed at him that a Shichibukai and a fishman would never join Luffy and the SHs and that Jinbe would be too strong, would not fit personality wise etc.. Brennen also never said that it is definite but 3 years later, here we are where Jinbe is pretty much a SH. The same potential Jinbe had back then, i see in Bonney. More than in characters like Monet or Kinemon if i have to be honest.

Even if you think we will see more of him on Wano, he has atleast to show something during this arc. And if curing his son would be his dream that wouldnt fit to the crew one bit. All dreams are related to adventure and doing something you really want to fullfill yourselve, not to help a family member thats suffering (man, would that be a downer).

Otherwise her conversation with Akainu would have been pontless. Which role will she have? You say she hates the strawhats. What I'm saying is that it's just too early to be considering Bonney as a potential SH. Her setup is just way too vague compared to the point where Kinemon or even Monet are at, since they both have more exposure with the Straw Hats. I'm not saying that she absolutely cannot be a Straw Hat. But because we know so little about Bonney, we can only judge her compatibility by what we do know. We can't just go by how she has a grudge against the SH's likely enemies and a wee bit of interaction with them. A whole lot of people fit under that roof. There's no solid evidence supporting that Luffy will find Bonney interesting in any way or that Bonney will even want to join the SHs. So yes, people, myself included, will express their opinions on how we think this is guessing and not an actual theory.

But hey, three years from now, if Bonney becomes a Straw Hat, you can laugh at us all you like for not believing in hypothetical scenarios.

I have nothing against Bonney as a character. Most people seem not to. However, considering her as a candidate for the next crew member is, at this point, based upon fan fiction and what ifs or her being a girl.

I have no problem with people wanting another female in the crew, I myself wouldn't mind one as well, but it's a little annoying that every female character in the entire series is seen as the next crew mate as soon as she appears in one panel.

It's at least two years too early to be having this conversation about Bonney.
