Im probably gonna be lechured for this but im interested in making a One Piece Fandub seeing how the 4kids one sucks. Despite what you might think this most likely wont be as hard as it sounds it just the matter of finding enough people to help out so please if your interested then please speak up and don't look at the tough points this will bring but think that there could actually be something better then 4kids dub but also be able to hear it in your own language.
One Piece Fandub

dude that would be awesome, i was about one too but i dont know if there is any prograam that lets u keep in orginal bgm and sfx, overal i'm intrested tho.
-
I'll get back to you on that. I need to see if I can have the time and maintain the interest for it first.
-
I am interested =D
Time and such could be a problem, but unless you want to release like, daily or something there should be enough time ~_^
Oh, and a serious dub, or a joke dub?
-
hopefully a seirous dub
-
I've done several funny dubs as some of you may or may not know, but I'm up for some serious ones too.
I have a wide range of voices, and I usually voice Luffy quite well some say.
-
Hahaha; I've seen a funny dub like that, but it was Naruto. I think I would make a good Zoro or Smoker if there was a true fandub.
-
Hmm I'm interested, thing is what are you gonna do for episodes and what not (ie script)?
I'm gonna need a new mic though. I think I could do a pretty good Nami, she might sound snooty at times though. But I think I'd rather do like support characters than any of the main crew, I don't know yet. Might not even voice at all because, I just might not have any time.
-
Well, I think I'd be a good Sanji.
You better start collecting sound effects and score collections as it'll be hard to keep original audio intact without changing the volume to weird levels. (Voices are super loud but music and sound effects can hardly be heard to cover the original performances.)
I do have some Luffy stretch sounds and Zoro sword sounds directly recorded off the show if you ever need those. (I also have some of those weird music cues they use for comedic bits.)
@Senshi: I've seen that fandub. It was actually pretty decent at first but got worse as it went on.
-
Aww, joke dubs are usually much better =S
Like, anyone seen the PoT fandub? Man, that sucked.
-
I remember someone mentioning at some other OP board that there are some OP joke dubs floating around but I can never find them.
EDIT: A good way to cast people is to take various small clips of the show and dub over just the dialogue to see if the voices fit the characters.
-
ive seen some naruto fandubs they are pretty good what ive seen. also i think some1 is doing a fandub of bleach right know also. i could maybe right the script if i could get my bittorent faster. also http://voiceacting.co.uk/board/index.php? has a lot of talented voice actors, they do some pretty good fandub clips.
-
Hey Buuhan, are you going to keep the original attack names (Gomu Gomu No Pistol, etc.) or are you going to use translated ones?
-
myself id perfer the orginal gomu gomu no… then the transonlation of the attack like fireworks insted of hanbi.l also if you do this what are u gonna do for a script use kf's script. (just like right down the lines off the subs), or make up your orginal script. it might be easier to use kf's, but you'd prboloy need to get their permision

I dunno if he should use the "No" part. What does that translate to in english?
It'd be a very good idea to get permission first too.
-
Gomu Gomu no Pistol could be Gum Gum Pistol… >_>
-
"Gum Gum" would sound awkward for a serious dub (IMO.. since the 4Kids dub is anything but serious)
I'd actually rather have them stick with "Gomu Gomu no Pistol"… it sounds better to me..
-
I know someone who is attempting to make a fandub already.

-
Yeah, I agree. Gum Gum just sounds extremely awkward. Doesn't gomu translate to rubber anyways?
EDIT:@Cosmic: Well, it doesn't mean that there can only be one fandub. There can be two.
-
It can be translated as rubber OR gum.
-
Well rubber makes more sense than gum does either way, IMO. Though I think Gomu Gomu is the way to go.

I downloaded fandub from AP once but I couldn't play .avis yet, so all I got was sound. xD Was that you in the Ace vs Scorpion man episode saying "My meat is running away!" or somthing? XD
Is there any chance you'd rerelease them?
-
I'd be interested in helping with a fan dub if you need an extra pair of hands >.>
-
Yea I want to keep in the original music and sfx also the original screaming but im not sure how I can do that without hearing the japanese voices
-
wait u want to do a fandub without hearing the orginal >_>….................................
-
I would love to help, this would be fun to do. I can VA, and I know how to used editor programs well, dont know how to solve the japnese voice thing, i say find a website or something that has all the japanese sounds and put them in yourself, along with the voice acting…
-
Could you help me out with that Min? Whatcha talking about warp? I just stated I wanted to keep everything original even the screaming the only thing that wouldn't be original would be the voices. Oh and Min I only got crappy Windows MovieMaker, do you know where I could download a better program or a name of one I could find on LimeWire?
-
have u seen the orginal japanese version. also ive heard virtual dub is a pretty good program, but doesnt let u keep in orginal bgm and sfx
-
Yea man I'm up to episode 17 of kf sub and I also seen episode 128, Ya I know not alot but im also still downloading.
-
ok cool good to know. i would like to help in anyway possible but im not really good with sfx and music. i could do voice acting tho. ive tried different voices i really like my mr.3 and somewhat crocidle and luffy
-
I don't think it's possible to get rid of the voices and keep the sound effects and music intact. I believe you need a sort of dub track straight from Toei to do that. The only real alternative is to collect various sounds that are faithful to the originals and use the OST collections for music.
-

Yeah haha that was our first dub EVER! Since then we've made like 15+ more.
I should rerelease them, I'd need a big host though.
I'm currently working on a little scene from Episode 82 with Wapol and Dalton, it's coming along quite nicely, I hope to distribute that throughout the One Piece community.
-
Oh…theres already people doing a One Piece Fandub..
-
I could do some voice work but that all hinges on what type of voice you would want out of a certain character. As crazy you may think of me, I actually though Arlong's dub voice was quite suiting, regardless of the voice effects. I could try imitating that for Arlong.
Just don't ask me to do Buggy. Everytime I try doing his voice, I end up sounding more like Barry the Chopper/Number 66 from Full Metal Alchemist.
-
Im hopping to do Buggy but im gonna need to use a voice modifier program
-
Well since we're on the subject of fandubs, here's a quick stab I did at dubbing Zoro. Since I don't have the music or any other actors, I had to turn the volume down during the original actor's dialogue and place my own on top of it. I tried to add some sound effects to help out the awkward silence but some of them are out of sync with the animation.
I'm not happy with the way I delievered one of my lines either. Too out of sync with the lips and horrible mic feedback. Poorly acted too. :glare:
What do you guys think?
EDIT: Buuhan, I highly recommend Audicity or GoldWave for voice modifications. They're great programs.
-
Im using Audacity now im making my buggy voice
-
alright it seems good for a Zoro in pain but could you give me a normal zoro?
-
alright it seems good for a Zoro in pain but could you give me a normal zoro?
Give me a little bit as I'm trying to nail his voice while doing my own interpretation of it.
-
Umm brad do you got the episode where buggy does bara bara festival? if you do can you plz rip the clip when he says it so i can try and see what my voice sounds like it on it and then host it? if you can't send on msn
-
Which episode does he do it in? I only have the first ten episodes on my harddrive.
EDIT: All right, I found it. Episode eight. It starts at him cursing Nami, doing it and then Luffy notices his feet are walking towards Buggy. Is that what you want?
-
its episode 8
(geeeeeeeee)
-
Here you go: Click here.
-
accept me to your list brad
-
What roles are currently open anywho?
-
ALL! all you gotta do is make a sound file of you voice acting the character you wanna be and host it and link it here, i'll get back to you
PS: Applying it to a clip is optional
-
-
@Brad:
Erhm….come again? <_<
Me thinks he means MSN or AIM, seeing as both of you have it. Lemme think about doing this first before I add ya Buuyan.
Any particular part you would like me to try out with? I was thinking Nami's part where she's stabbing her arm, another part in Whiskey Peak (also to try out for Mr8.. :glare: maybe), gotta see if I can do Miss Valentine, I don't think I can get my voice high enough. My clips once my voice is a little less hoarse (I'm groggy in the morning) will be applied to video but it's not going to have like any sounds other than my voice XD it's just to get snycing right.
-
Um… I'd enjoy playing the role of Usopp, but I dunno what to say for my audition... can some one please give me something to read?
Or should I just let you hear all the voices I can do until you decide on what I'd be best suited for?
-
I could post up a clip of the sub, and you can read those lines maybe.
