Quick question. I'm thinking of playing Gen 4. Maybe via emulation if possible. Seeing as it's the only gen I never played, I just have one question that would make or break the game.
How is the spread of the Pokemon from that region? The only reason I'd like to play it is to familiar myself with monster names in that generation and it would be a shame if the spread was pretty bad, especially at the beginning(Like HG and SS)

Woah Ghost/Steel! Never thought they'd go for such a great typing. If that thing has half decent stats and a usable move pool then I expect to see it on a lot of teams (including my own).
Normally I prefer my pokemon to be based on living things and not objects but I really like this one, I especially like how it unsheathes itself from it's scabbard. I wonder if that'll be a form change linked to an ability or just a nice visual touch.

I actually am making a monotype steel team and refused to decide on my sixth member until I saw if there was a ghost/steel pokemon this gen. So this is awesome, I also like its design a lot.

I would have expected a haunted suit of armor for ghost/steel but still very cool. and that could be an evo.

Yeah. Someone said if it evolves it will end up being a ghost knight with a sword + shield. Well… It's just speculation I heard from more than a single person.

I like the sword, especially the detail of it being unsheathed in battle. Huh, a whole suit of armor…? I don't initially like the idea, but they could make it work. I like the sword more than I expected I would after all. Ghost types at least make the most sense somewhat to be man-made like objects.

Ghost/Steel is pretty good typing. If it has Levitate on top of that…

with the new fairy type, I was kind of expecting a fairy/steel dullahan pokemon, but I guess Steel/Ghost is just a better typing. And we already got Mawile.

The land is filled with earlier monsters throughout, the new stuff is kind of scattered.

-15 legendariesThat leaves only about 60 monsters. The token starting area rodent, insect, butterfly and bird and their evolutions show up early and fill about 10 spots between them.
A couple of the critters like Riolu or Chatot don't show up until VERY late in the game.
So overall you're actually looking at a fairly small pool of monsters, about 30 plus evolutions, intermixed with old things.
If you played Black and White 2 you already saw most of them.

It's about the same number as Gen 2 or 3 honestly… just a lot of it was "fix this old thing" and legendaries which really ate into the totals.
But hey, bidoof!

Yeah, I'm hoping it either evolve to a Knight armor with a sword or makes another pokemon evolve to a knigth.

I expect something like a fusion/swap evolution with a shield/shield-like Pokemon like those two bugs in Gen5.

Honedge comes into being when a departed spirit inhabits a sword that once belonged to humans. It can use the blue cloth attached to its hilt as nimbly as an arm. If you were to carelessly take this blade in hand, you may find that blue cloth wrapping around you…draining the energy from your body!
This gives me hope that somehow it does evolve into a Ghost armor knigth with the sword

I'm not quite sure about the knight evo. Its french and japanese name have emphasis on "one" ("mono" for french and "hitsotsu" for japanese) so I think we can expect a dual blade evolution.
