! Skypiea itself obviously represents heaven as depicted in cultures across the world with it's people having angel-like wings.

The name of Skypiea may been derived from the saying "Pie in the Sky" which is usually said to point out the chances of something happening are very slim, usually in references to myths and legends(Just as many people doubt the existance of Skypiea in One Piece.) The saying is also meant to describe rewards after death, as in Heaven, which Skypiea is based on.
! Pierre is Gan Fall's pet bird who ate the Uma-Uma No Mi/Horse-Horse Fruit which is a Zoan type that allows him to turn into a horse. He is obviously based on Pegasus, a divine winged horse from Greek Mythology.
! Gan Fall may get part of his name from Gan Ceann, an unseelie fairy in Celtic Mythology that is often described as riding on a horse, similar to how Gan Fall rides on Pierre.

Gan Fall's attire resembles the classic character Don Quixote De La Mancha.
! Pumpkins are sacred in Skypiea, this may be based on the Iroquois myth that pumpkins come from a Sky World.
! The White Berets (Most likely based on the "Green Berets") are the police who serve under Enel. Their captain is McKinley. The name Mckinley is a Scottish name meaning "Son Of Finlay". The name "Finlay" is derived from the Gaelic word meaning "white warrior" or "fair hero" fitting Mckinley's status as an angel guard.
! Conis has a pet fox named Su, in Europe, during Pre-Christian Times, the fox was seen as a heavenly symbol of the gods.
! The Ordeals are used to punish criminals in Skypiea and are utilized by Enel's four priests. The entrance to the ordeals resembles the faces on many Hindu Statues.
! Satori is a term used in Japan to refer to Buddhist Enlightenment.
Satori also uses Color of Observation, called Mantra in Skypiea which is a Buddhist and Hindu word to refer to certain hymns.
Satori is also a Japanese monster that can read people's minds, similar to Satori's power.
! Ohm's name comes from the "Ohm." (ॐ) The holiest syllable in Hindusim. Ohm also a unit of electrical resistance, which is a reference to Enel.
! Shura's name means "carnage" in Japanese. He uses a javelin with a heat dial. This weapon may be based on the Lúin of Celtchar.
! Gedatsu is the Japanese word for "Moksha."
! Yama recieves his name from the lord of death in Hinduism.
! The Shandians are based on Native Americans, and how their land was taken by Europeans. In this case, the Skypieans took land from the Shandians. The appearance of tipis and totem polls in Upper Yard also reference Native Americans. The Shandian practice of human sacrifice and worship of reptile gods is reminiscent of the Ancient Mayans.
! Shandian means "lightning" in Chinese.
! Calgara's name may come from "Calgary" which is derived from the Gaelic "Calaghearraidh" which means "Beach of the Pasture."
! Montblanc Noland's name gets the "Montblanc" from the French Dessert "Montblanc" which resembles his hairstyle. The Noland comes from "No Land" which is a reference to people who doubt his stories about the Land of Gold, El Dorado.
! Giant Jack is obviously based on the folk tale called "Jack and the Beanstalk."
! The Klabautermann that repaired the Going Merry is based on the mythological Klabautermann of the same name.

! Enel is based on the Shinto Thunder God, Raijin, who carries drums with tomoe symbols on his back, just like Enel.
! Enel's drums feature tomoe, which represents "Man, Earth, and Sky." There are also many religious references with Enel. He has the Goro-Goro no Mi/Rumble-Rumble Fruit which is an electricity logia. Zeus uses thunder in Greek Mythology, along with countless other sky deities.
! Logias get there name from the New Testament term "Logia" which is a saying or utterance by Jesus Christ. Logias "speak" with forces of nature.
! Enel refers to the night before the survival game as the "Last Supper."
! Enels attacks are named after various sky deities.

Julungul - Aboriginal Australian Weather Goddess
Raigo - The appearance of Amida Buddha on a purple cloud to welcome dead spirits.
