What's better than one Nami? #Toonami #watchtoonami tonight!
Why would Mike McFarland post this? I don't get it. Is he dubbing Nami's fight with CP9, when there's more than one Nami? What does that have to do with toonami? tonight? what?
-
Hmm… interesting...

Toonami = Two Nami
-
I'm sure it will just be our standard night of Toonami awesome, but there's always the chance for an extra dollop of rockin-ness.
-
Toonami = Two Nami
Ha! Nice.
It's just McFarland advertising Toonami, a lot of Funimation actors do it. -

I don't think it means much. He tweets every week telling people to watch Toonami so I think he was just making a wordplay.
-
Agreed! But he shouldn't post references to One Piece and 'toonami' in the same sentence. It's justs too cruel.
-
He didnt. He said "Nami".
-
Who is a character in One Piece. Therefore also referring to One Piece. Yeah it doesn't mean anything but it was intentional.

So FUNi put the final two episodes of Season 4 on OP Official, and there's more flip-flopping on the Sogeking/Sniper King thing. In the second episode he appears in, the episode title keeps it Sogeking, but on Episode 262 it's Sniper King, and I believe Sniper King has also been kept for all the episode descriptions as well. Sogeking is consistent on the subtitles on all his episodes for what it's worth.
-
People will probably disagree with me, but I'd have no problems if they changed the name to Sniperking, since it means exactly the same thing as Sogeking.
-
It isn't a big deal, but I like sogeking more. It's just what I got used to.
-

It's just that I'd rather the name be the same as what's plainly seen on the Wanted poster. I don't see Sniper King as a wrong translation or anything, though for me personally it would just be a bit weird because of that. Of course, most English dub viewers will have no idea what "Soge" means either so you can't win either way.
Ha, imagine if the dub switched back and forth between both names on each episode!
-
The only difference between "Sogeking" and "Sniperking" is that "Sogeking" is a pun on the Japanese word "sogeki" (sniper) and "king." So it really doesn't bother me either way. The only thing that worries me is if they'll have to change the wanted posters or not. But the characters tend to refer to Sogeking as "King of Snipers–Sogeking!!" and "The King of Snipers!" in the anime/manga, don't they? Or am I just remembering wrong?

Rightstuf updated everything so that we know what episodes have commentary. Next week will be the beginning of the waiting game- it'll be 6 weeks before the release, which means rightstuf could ship it at any time.

I know I might be commiting sacrilege against Our Funimation Lords but I dont like how Nami(Luci Christian) pronounces Usopp(You-Sopp)
-
Do you mean that she pronounces it like Yu-sopp (which she doesn't) or that she should pronounce it like Yu-sopp (which she doesn and shouldn't)?
-
It should be OO-SOP. And it seems it was just one little mistake, because she pronounces it ok before and after that tiny mistake.
Sorry to bother you Brother!

Well, the current marketing manager left FUNimation today sadly do to personal goal's. Wonder who will be the third marketing manager now? I will truly miss Charlene Ingram working at FUNimation as she truly put a lot of work into the anime she marketed(Notable works include Summer Wars,Hetalia,C-Control.) And literally as soon as she became the marketing manger for One Piece, we get season 5 and the 10th movie? Now obviously, it wasn't just her who worked on getting that, but she truly was a fan of the series and helped to ensure it's popularity. Let's hope the third marketing manager on the series continues that.

Wow that was a good read, and it's really nice to hear she ventured out to Texas to pursue a dream, made it happen, and is now going forward with new opportunities. Also great to hear she and Adam are still together. She's a great fan, and was a great worker and spokesperson for FUNimation.
I'm sure "One Piece" will find a new brand manager that's fully capable of maximizing the potential success of the property, it's one of their biggest titles after all, and I look forward to whatever FUNimation has in store down the line for "One Piece".

I think you're just mishearing things…What scene/episode are you talking about?
-
Mispronunciations happen in dubs, one or two flubs isn't really an issue to me. I remember in Yu Yu Hakusho there was an episode with the characters Kido and Kaito, in one instance the character Kaito said "Kaido" instead of Kido it was so confusing, but that was the only time I remembered such a flub. Mistakes happen.
I sort of wish we could have gotten the footage where there ISN'T two Zoro's on screen in episode 226 (I think), but it was over in an instant so I'm over it. Also hi there I'm new here. My friend got into One Piece via the funi dub, and color me impressed (was a long time sub only fan), now I can't wait till voyage 4 is released!

That footage doesn't exist. And welcome!

So, you'd rather have the cropped, 4:3 version… :wassat:
-
So, you'd rather have the cropped, 4:3 version… :wassat:
Be nice… He/she probably didnt know that version was cropped.
-
Oh, I knew there was a 4:3 version, but I assumed maybe later down the line they fixed it or that it was similar to Dragonball Kai in which the show was fullscreen but cropped later for TV. I'd prefer widescreen of course :P Also it's he.
-
Guess a subbed season five won't make its debut until summertime.

As said above, it's a crop, but still exists.
He clarified that he meant a 16:9 uncropped version of the scene without Zoro. Cropping it into 4:3 hides the error but it's still there.

Soul Eater on toonami. No One Piece yet.
-
When will people understand that Toonami needs more revenue before they get One Piece. They know we want it and we know they want it. Its just a matter of time and money.
-
-
Very chill. Just updating. We all expect one piece to be on there eventually, just letting you guys know it hasn't happened with this most recent one.

I'm out of the loop! When was Soul Eater announced? And when is that gonna be premiered?

It starts up on the night if the 16th.I see. Thanks. While I've already seen SE (and bought), I'll be looking forward to Toonami adding a new title to its roster. ^^
-
I'll probably DVR it. I heard it ended badly, though. The anime, at least.

You're right it did.
After episode 25 it stops following the manga and become really crappy. -
You're right it did.
After episode 25 it stops following the manga and become really crappy. Not much could be done about though: monthly manga and weekly anime never go together.
Hell weekly anime and weekly manga hardly work either. (If ever)
Perhaps one day it will get a remake. (I'm still holding out hope, they said {Bones} they were working on a familiar title.)
-
Noted. I'll watch up to 25 and read the manga if I like it enough at that point.
-
Actually, I'm pretty sure episode 36 was the last episode of Soul Eater that was faithful to the manga. Not 25. Episodes 37-51 is when shit goes to hell.
Just a warning, but the manga's art pales in comparison to the anime's art. It improves later on, though. Stick with it though because the story gets very good.

Just checked thx. And you're right.
Coincidentally I believe he can just read chapter 37 on up from there.
-
Oh, no. If I were to read, I'd start at the beginning. Been trying to read more manga series lately. Don't really have the time, though.
Anyways, around next week we'll know if voyage five will be here in April. We're entering rightstuf release for voyage four, which I'm not looking forward to as much as I was looking forward to voyage three. Not many new voices this time around. I'm still betting on the end of February, though.
-
I know this is wishful thinking, but I hope we get the set by the end of next week. That way I can enjoy it over the long weekend because of President's Day
-
Gosh, that's almost beyond wishful thinking. Especially since we got the last set a bit later than the usual two-week-before-release period. Granted we did get Voyage 2 almost a month early.
-
Exactly. Usually I wouldn't bother dreaming, but since we got voyage 2 so early and since there was a 3 month gap instead of the usual 2 I could see this one coming out earlier than usual (at least I hope so). Realistically we will probably get it around the week of the 25th of February I think.
-
Right. I'm counting on it getting here around the 25th. To ask for it next week is beyond a month early. That'd be crazy, though I certainly wouldn't mind it. I've been checking the rightstuf page once per day, just in case.
Don't tell anyone, but I saved the final episode of voyage three for next weekend. So much for 'there's no rationing water 7'.

I kind of wonder how far along in the recording they are…I mean, we got Mike McFarland's tweet of Sonny recording Sogeking at the beginning of August...about six months ago. Then Stephanie Young's Facebook message about her emotional Robin session a little before Thanksgiving. Anyone think they could end up starting recording for season six before the first set for season five comes out?
