I like your arguement lol but just wanted to point out that ODa said there are several kinds of giants, even some bigger than Dorry and Broggy, like Oars. They are a different kind of giants and are not from Elbaf. But you still can be right about some giants there, since Oda said that there are several islands that have giants, not just Elbaf.

We dont know if Elbaf has other mystical beings on it as well though. Dont forget about the race thats San Juan Wolf. Basically giants the size of islands lol.

Anyways, I loved that Oda brought Ussop back and we got some information on Samurai's. I didn't understand why Zoro asked about them through when he was trained in a dojo and wears Samurai cloting.

Remember, this isn't supposed to be our world, even if zoro does use a Katana, and was in a dojo, it was a "Swordfighting dojo", samurai reffers to a social class, not to a "Katana wielding warrior", and as such there's little chance of Zoro knowing them, beyond Ryuma or something that he might have heard off screen.

Judging from Dorry and Brogy and how they mentioned a Serpent that sounded like Jormungand, there might be more Dragons, huge Eagles and Wolves, and other Norse creatures, probably.

I fail to see how that was illogical. Giant beasts are one thing, but to come face to face with something that everyone believes does not exist? Usopp would be out of character if he saw a Dragon and just was like "meh".

I understand where your coming from regarding Usopp, I mean he seemed pretty brave during the f.i. Arc, but there is a very good reason for the change, 2 to be exact:

1. He's used to fish-men, battling those nf pirates did not scare his as he had prior experience. Sure the steroids boosted their power but even Daruma did not eat as much as Hyouzu. To add to this he had a good battle plan from his experience of fighting those baroque works guys (forgot their code names)

2. New World! Usopp so far has heard nothing but bad things about it and now sees it for himself what with flaming seas and what not. To add to that they break into an unauthorized area and find a giant Dragon.

I mean this is only Infered but I'm sure sure you see what I'm trying to say.

As a result he isn't as fazed anymore when he encounters dangers on that scale.

But the thing is the New World is on a new level of dangerous crazyness.
Anyone who thinks he should be his totally badass self in these new situations totally missed the point.
Remember his goal is to become a brave warrior of the sea, he has not reached his goal yet. When they finish their journey there will certainly be nothing left to scare him after he's seen the scariest and craziest things and also survived them, he will finally have fulfilled his dream.

Hmmmyeah didn't they say "red serpent?" I need to go find the chapter and reread it. Would love to see more giant Norse creatures. IF there is something like Jormungand there, maybe there is a giant wolf like Fenrir. But there maybe other creatures besides norse myths. Many think there will be others like dwarves and centaurs since Elbaf is Fable backwards. I'd live to see some centaurs …why not? there are mermaids and giants in OP! I'd love to see a archery contest with Usopp and a Centaur. just for the lols

Way back in chapter 303, Usopp tried to create some with a Milky Dial, but it wasn't possible due to the different environment.

That is Probably Why Nami is able to do it now, She has learned many Knowledge about the weather etc during her two years of training and was able to make the specific adujstment to make the milky dial work.

I'm not really sure the human body works like that tbh. For example, Eskimos spend their entire lives in cold weather and their bodies develop into small plump shapes over long periods of time so that more heat is maintained in the center of the body and they don't feel as cold. Not only has Luffy been exposed to extreme heat only a few times, but now he's RIGHT next to the flames (I don't remember if he was right next to flames in ID but i dont think he was). I don't think it's too illogical that he's uncomfortable with the heat.

It's basically slang for seomeone who's the head of a family (in the sense of a gang, not a biological family). Ace called Whitebeard the same thing. In a way, it's still basically calling him "Boss".

If you think about it Bege is suppose be to be a Based on Al Capone and Italian Mafia, Where They are the "GOD FATHERS" of their family or Crew in this case.
So Using Father is Really the more likely the correct Translation. Also in the Anime he was called Father.

This will not be the only island that will not react to the log pose. Whether we get to see another is one question but it is fact that some do not register. The Minister of the Right told Nami that some islands do not register on the log pose. http://www.mangafox.com/manga/one_piece/v65/c653/8.html seems to me that Punk Hazard is one of those island that he was talking about that "lose the magnetic waves as you sail near them". After all Nami didn't look at the pose until they were already there, so we don't know if it never registered or "got lost as they near it".

You can't be brave if you're not afraid of anything ! Being afraid and still facing it, that is being brave.
So Usopp is probably the bravest of the SH.

Well there is no point here just an explanation what the word "brave" entails, since your statement of what you think bravery is doesn't match with what the word bravery really describes.
Luffy can be considered brave for participating in the war to rescue ace.
He wasn't scared of it's dangers he dashed into every obstacle and withstood them.
He faced a lot of the big shots of the world and didn't hesitate in any of his actions.
This all falls under the "bravery" category even if it doesn't involve him being scared of sth.

Your example is also pretty bad, when luffy jumps off insane heights he doesn't have to withstand/overcome anything, there is no fear, pain or danger for him to face since like you already stated it wouldn't do anything to him.

I'm loving this chapter and a great opening to a new arc! Not to mention lot of fanservice too. 3 shirtless men and a women in a hot fiery place, lol.I also love how Oda came up with such names for locations/islands like this, Punk Hazard. I was wondering where did he get that from? I know about the 'Punk' but what about 'Hazard'? A reference to a name of a classic anime he watched (El Hazard?) or a band, some sort?And that Dragon is freaking awesome but strangely, why would a dragon dwells in a place like this? Is it the cause of what happen to Punk Hazard now?

Don't know if this has been posted but what if the Dragon is responsible for the obscure weather on the island? In Chinese Mythology Dragons can control weather, I wonder if Oda could have adopted the concept… The concept is one reason why some believe Monkey D Dragon obtains the Dragon DF.

Along the ride he said his old Can't-go-in-dangerous-islands disease is back. He still rode to Mini Merry the end and landed with the rest of em.
At the sight of the entrance he said they shouldn't go in cause it seems dangerous. He still went inside, instead of just just run away and rode the Merry back.

I'm not sure I understand which part of him is a scaredy-cat/coward/what-have-you. All I see is someone screaming "I'm scared!", but still went for the ride.

It's because he displays physical symptoms of fear, crying, shivering, not being entirely in control of his body.
That said, they're mostly displayed for comedy relief.
But they're also meant to portrait him as a character that is fearful but doesn't let it control him when it counts which is
a kind of appealing character trait I guess.

I personally would find it more appealing if the dragon is either the product of a failed experiment or a rare beast that exist in the op world. Adds more flavour to the world.

Okay… so let me get this straight. In this chapter, 5 islands were mentioned...
Wano - which was not shown, but said to be where the most powerful samurais come from (must be further into the new world)
Punk Hazard - An island that the log pose doesn't respond to, but was near the strawhats
Risky Red - Random island in reach of smoker's log pose
Mistoria - Another random island in reach of smoker's log pose
Rajin - The most dangerous place in reach of smoker's log pose, so he is heading there, expecting to see luffy, but will not

Maybe what makes the New World really awesome is that story Arcs aren't only restricted to one island, but maybe could span over the three (or maybe more) that the log pose reacts to. It would definitely makes things fresh and adventurous, instead having to read about the same island for a year or two until the island arc ends. But then there might be the common opinion that the islands won't be as "fleshed out" if there are too many things going on too quickly.

The impression I got was that none of the "losers" really wanted to go with Luffy through a sea of flames towards an island that is so dangerous that it lacks a magnetic field for no good reason at all but save somebody that they weren't even sure was real. Zoro and Robin are the only ones who are weird enough to go along with Luffy's craziness without complaint. Even Sanji, who is very strong himself, would object a little to this. They just respected the results of the lottery and ignored Usopp's pleas by sarcastically congratulating him.

Not really and a bad chocie to compare. Usopp's goal is internal, to become braver is a personal growth, he could reach it in two year timeskip , Nami's goal has her travel around the world, that take a lot of time. And that is what many of we Usopp fans are complaining about, we feel that at first he showed some growth, gained some courage then BAM its the guy with shaky legs agin.
We enjoyed the brave but nervous guy that did not react to Caribou boarding their ship and spouting "kill them men" but then shows a reasonable nervousnes and tears when his captain wants to tame the giant kraken.
I did not mind when Usopp was begging someone to change places with him, or when he said he's too nervous to eat. What made go "Damn it" was the return of the "disease excuse".

Second is how no one mentioned that heat demagnetizes metals and rocks. So it seems pretty obvious why the needle does not point towards the island. Not really hard math.

Nice catch on the heat part,one I could really believe if it was entire island on fire but its only one side of the island that has intense heat. The other side is frigid and then would still have a magnetic reading.

I'm not the biggest Ussop fan so I don't care too much about his character growth but I must say even I am a bit annoyed by his attitude in this chapter. Still i'll give it some more time before i burn his cowardly ass at the stake.
