! > Alright, some (as) Quick (as they get) Thoughts on the chapter from me.
Typical amazing transition / set-up chapter, really, with plenty of things revealed and pieces set up for the upcoming arc. I'm sure pretty much everything content wise has been brought up in the thread already, and will continue to be discussed.
What I think is one of the more interesting, if subtle things in this chapter, though – and that while I've seen brought up at least once in passing, I don't believe has been talked about much -- is the title. At face value, it seems a little odd that a chapter with so much going on in it, even by One Piece standards, would be titled after what frankly comes across as one of the usual Luffy-being-Luffy gags. I suppose it makes more sense once you realize that it's connected to the reveal of Ace's devil fruit, but I think it goes even beyond that.
Perhaps the most common complaint I see from the group of posters who, near as I can tell, must have had their puppies killed by Law when they were children or some such given how enraged they get by his presence in the manga, oh god I digress let me start over.
Perhaps the most common complaint I see from people who dislike Law is that, more or less since his re-introduction during Punk Hazard, he's had this sort of smug 'just according to plan' thing constantly going on. Put in other words, they dislike that One Piece has, in a way, been moving at Law's pace. I believe those people, especially, should love this chapter, and what it implies, because I think that the 'his' in the title is actually purposely ambiguous. Law has his pace of careful planning, which even in this chapter we see get slightly disrupted as he is distracted from his own objections to Luffy's 'wing it' attitude by being swept up into the manic, care-free pace of the Straw Hat pirates. Meanwhile, Doflamingo, who has been showed becoming enraged due to things moving Law's way, out of his control, is shown collecting himself, planning a way to get things moving back in a way he wants them to be. On top of all this, we have what is presumably one of the new Admirals being sent into action, who no doubt intends to handle things his own way.
Finally, of course, there is Luffy himself, who has and will always do things his own way, consequences be damned. If I had to say the title were referring to any specific character, which I'm hesitant to do, I would honestly say it was referring to Luffy. After all, One Piece is, ultimately, his story, and despite what some might argue, I personally believe that as such it has always moved at his pace. We definitely have one involved arc coming up -- with all the plans and counter-plans, all the the parties involved -- and in the end I am willing to say that it will be Luffy that brings all of that crashing down, Law's carefully laid plan gone haywire, Doflamingo's fiendish setups in shambles, and Luffy, the Strawhats, and his allies victorious.
One Piece, after all, moves at his pace.
Or it is just a funny way to refer to his ability to control people and let them walk "in his pace".
