So wait…. If the 3 of Accia's disciples have suprise apple levels in the 90's (equal to that of a giant meteor hitting the earth) and 100 is the end of the world, and Sani's hair can destroy all life on the planet and the universe.... just how strong is sani, and what would his suprise apple level be????
Goodbye Tommyrod, I will always remember being slightly sicken by your fights.
moment of silence
Wow….Sani I knew you were my favorite for a reason. Tommy, you were amazeballs.
Whelp, we just lost one of the funnest villains in the series. His send off was pretty fun though.
Rest in peace you magnificent…whatever it was you were.
Yay, Monchy!
The spitting part will prolly be censored. But I hope they don´t remove the part when he hits the ingredients with a folding chair
So Ootake is with the Bishokukai, and Ume is with Neo.
I wonder which members of the Bishokukai are with Neo
excellent chapter and battle, i sure hope the other ones prove as worthwhile.
A fitting end and a salute to you tommyrod
I actually do want to see Grinpatch and Setsuno die.
Not because I don't like those characters, but to raise the sense of urgency and intimidating threat of the third faction as they emerge out of the shadow.
As for Tommy, he already had two excellent, all-out, no-holds-barred fights.
Him going out with a bang was a good send off, and fitting conclusion.
Much better than the usual alternative many shounen manga goes through with villains getting overshadowed into irrelevancy.
Sorta like how Jin-e in Kenshin was one of the coolest villain, but instead of being relegated to obsecurity, he went out with a bang early in the series. And left us with much better impression.
I also think Setsuno will die. But Grinpath probably won't, we haven't really seen him going all out yet.
If anyone will kill Setsuno I think it will be Joa, after she's been weaken by a fight against Zaus, Kousairou and Kuriboh.
I think it's never too early
!
Gonna change my avatar I guess.
At this point I think Chiyo will die too by the hands of Setsuno.
Zebra's power is awesome. He essentially has psychokinesis, and when that fails he can muscle his way to victory. Wanna see him fight those nitros.
he is gonna bitchslap them so much.
Amazing fight. I hope we learn more soon about this Neo group. It'll be amazing seeing minor characters like Joejoe and Uumen gaining a new spotlight and development through this.
If there are more enemys to die soon, I'm actually betting on Elg, since he doesn't seem to be important to the overall plot and Chyo, since Setsuno seems to be getting more fights later on.
"Everything with a form will someday break. But at the same time, that will be a moment it bruns bright in memory…"
Shima was right! Tommyrods, Tommyrods everywhere!
I too think that this is a fitting scene for Setsuno to die but I just can't see how. We can presume Sani, Toriko and Coco will stay idle after their fights due to their injuries. I think we can say the same for Zebra if he manages to slay all the Nitro down. But still there is Mansam who is a freak and Shigematsu too hasn't appeared yet. Still there is Jirou who should be watching the festival at the very least and since he sensed danger there, by simple logic, he should be RUNNING to the where the festival take place. And since we're talking about Jirou standarts here I'm sure he has a very good way to travel there. I don't recall where Teppei is and if someone enlightens this that would be good.
Teppei is at Pukin´s laboratory, nearby Life.

This is the cutest thing, seriously.
BTW the Toriko fans are looking for someone who wants to have an Ask Tommy account. Anyone interested?
Zebra is awesome. He trasported the whole stadium into safety and now is ready to rock. Also it's kind of funny looking from the side and out of context - everyone are fighting and dying and he is just sitting in the rows, not caring about fires around him, bored and waiting for something funny. His powers are a good way to prolong him from jumping into fights and also ensure safety of spectators. Interesting to see him shwing off new moves. Since the last time Nitro managed to avoid his voice attacks, and this time it's a healthy adult, I wonder what will awakened appetite energy add to his voice. A pure hunger strive coupled with Zebra's natural bottomless stomach will certainly yield great visuals.
Also something might happen that will focus his attention not on Nitros. Someone new arriving or something. Because at the back of my mind I feel Nitros don't have enough special powers for a vivid fight with Zebra. But at the same time we saw, like, two and a half of them and it's the first time an adult is fighting seriously.
Tommyrod's end was awesome. And fitting for a story about eating. Even the most grave injuries can get fixed there, so this is just the way to draw a line. Not really Sunny eating (so a good guy is not tarnished by cannibalism), but still a memorable character being devoured. He showed us what he can do both slim and buff, and the fights were just as I like them in Toriko - fast and furious. And considering the foreshadowing of G-cells hunger - I like how in a way, it was touched the last time Tommy fought. A fight for food with no feelings attached. I especially remember the eyes of Toriko when Tommyrod thinks about refreshing feeling in the air. chapter 88 page 7. And now it's unwrapped more - the awakening G-cells striving for food are making fighters simply fight with no ideologies attached. I think when Toriko's fight will be shown, this will get further explanation, and not only in the way of new attacks.
Toriko's fight might get interrupted, but I don't see what (apart from Komatsu being stolen) can stop the muscles midway. So as people said on the previous pages, him actually losing might be a way out. Staajyn won't kill him, he gets quality vibes from Toriko's guts and luck, but he is too powerful for Toriko right now. This will be a good benchmark right now - how high Toriko has still to get.
Grinparch might simply get lost in the darkness and drift away from Coco. Poisons are quite radical, especially in the fight to the death, or critical immobility. But Grinparch can't die right now.
That's just how I like it - surprises! Anxious to see what Shima will give us.
Tommy was a great, amazing character. But, hey, it's true he wasn't so much developed. Even in his fighting style, he didn't show any special named attack, only great speed, strong bites and punches. I think we have to take him as an example of death of someone "important". I don't think Grinpatch will die, neither Starjun.
So I was wondering, can Toriko have ever had anything close to a plothole in the 220 plus chapters it's been around ? I tried thinking for a moment but realy couldn't think of anything off the top of my head.
If I think about it there's no plothole.
Aside from why Ichiryuu allowed four unique natural environments to be almost completely destroyed and billions of people's lives to be at stake all for the sake of training.
And also I do not buy that not a one single person was bit in half/ripped apart/crushed when the four beast was eating people and crashed trains left and right. You don't tell me everyone is magicaly okay after that.
Cause then you make an already boring fight against a seemingly toothless enemy finished off with an asspull out of nowhere magic energy sphere a complete farce by pretending like it never even killed anyone.

But that seems to be the only time I realy doubted Shima's logic or storytelling, to such an extent anyway.
Sound armor yo.…..
There's a lot of bizarre stuff that can't be explained. How do you scare a fruit? How can a fruit smell methane from flatulence? How do you rig a conveyor belt that carries entire houses and even mansions across a desert that takes 3 months to travel across? How does a building recognize and materialize to politeness? With all the crazy creatures, how did 18 billion humans survive in the first place? How can weather only come in extremes every single year in a single region, with the exact same four seasons every year?
… It's just Shounen. It happens.
These are some typical shounen characteristics. One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, Dragonball, Saint Seiya, each of these shounen has this type of plothole.
@Fire Fist:
How can a fruit smell methane from flatulence? .
Hey, you're being totally unfair. Of course the fruit didn't smell methane. Methane is an odorless gas after all. Now sulfur compounds on the other hand…
If Setsuno is this strong as they say, how strong was she in her prime?
And Acacia's disciples?
These are not really plotholes, more like typical shonen overblowings. Like training on G.I. in HunterXHunter.
I also don't see any holes in Toriko yet. Then again, the story is not so far into to start overlapping and going against it's own rules for no reason.
If Setsuno is this strong as they say, how strong was she in her prime?
And Acacia's disciples?
Did we have such thing in Toriko? As in you go weaker by aging?

She still breathes white air.
She still breathes white air.
Yes, and this is the sign her body has lost something compared to when she was younger. Her Gourmet Cells lost their ability to adapt to every enviroment, still she's the easily the strongest character in the entire Cooking Fest arc development. Again, how strong could really be Ichiryuu, Midora and Jirou?

Only hint we have got is 'Big meteor hitting the Earth' but I do not think that is their full extent. They did 9x scores probably with winking or shouting and 9x score explains only that. If that is the case and should we compare Ichiryuu to Sani i think it is only reasonable to stay Ichiryuu can destroy the existence itself.
And that would explain another mistery, Ichiryuu's smiles.
Sad chapter :(
RIP Tommy boy, i hope Shima will bring him bak from next world also i hope him to follow Oda pattern not killing any characters unless its important to the story to advance
does anyone know where you can find the latest episode of toriko subbed or the best fansub group who subs the episodes. I don't usually watch toriko but i am really interested in hearing Midora's voice? we havent heard his voice before right? :ninja:

Anime-Destiny if you aren't in the U.S.
I'm not a fan of Toriko, not at all. And yet this fight was everything that Toriko excels in concentrated in a few short, dynamic chapters. Tommyrod, no holds barred, in his blazing, disgusting bug glory, from the start until his very end. This is how you send off a villain. Sani, going at it close and personal, on the edge of consciousness, changing from his usual, so-called beautiful ways. This is how you awaken a hero. Far from perfect, but the best dish from the available ingridients.
This is the undisputed peak Toriko will never again reach. I can't imagine Shimabu surpass this. In my eyes, that is.

What? How DARE this manga not have plotholes! We demand plotholes so we can have fuel for our fanboy raging fire!!!

I was just wondering, because I've run into my fair share of them elsewhere. It's a compliment to Shima, realy.
In about 10-12 days the Volume 24 should be for sale. Do we have a cover yet? Maybe it will be on the cover of jump next week??
I hope Brunchy makes it to the cover or at least the spine, and that we get to see some of the chefs we didn´t saw on the 213 colorspread.
Also I hope this time we get some character data. I was looking forward to Tairan´s on vol 23 :C
It's really a shame that Shimabu has problems managing his cast. He brings out memorable and creative characters like Greenpatch, Tommyrod or Life Bearer, but relegates them to secondary roles. And at the same time, he brings bland and forgettable people into the sporlight. It's still one of the greatest disappointments in this series that someone like Starjuun and Midora are set to become the main rival and the main villain of the whole series, especially considering who similar these two are to each other.
Maybe Starjun is Midora's son.
But yeah neither of them I find to be too interesting.
I'm not really looking forward to the volume cover. Shima has really terrible color sense and composition skills for them.
I'm interested in who is on the spine tbh. :X
Will it be Brunch? Grinpatch? Zaus? ZONGE???
Grinpatch deserves a spine already. Tommy and Star got one long ago
