There's no reason why we couldn't have had both. It's just a missed opportunity to get more emotionally invested in the chefs. Just imagine the impact that final scene with the nitro could've had if Makubee was given an ounce of personality/screentime.

Same with the fact that Kousairou is working with the rich dudes. If the whole betrayal had been given an emotional impact, or maybe if Kousairou's first appearance wasn't with 10+ other new people and when the 0th Biotope announced there was a "traitor" in the group, the story could be that much more heightened.

That being said…I don't hate those scenes/reveals. And there's a lot of things I really liked about the chapter. Especially the pretty art.

I liked the set up with Chiyo and Setsuno. Setsuno's show off scene was great. It was cool when she projected her broken abilities and scared the crap out of all those beasts. I like that Makubee's head is shaped like an onigiri. And I agree that the nitros are awesome. But I also like the msucular devil looking beast at the right.

HOLY HELL! What a chapter! Now, the only thing I wonder about is the purpose of the third 'faction'. I don't think the want to kidnap any of the cooks (I still think they have Zaus=Joa on their side). So, why they are there? Maybe they want to kidnap some Nitros thus increasing the probability to find GOD?

Guys… next week (not this coming sunday) is a break :( Episode 95 airs March 3rd. I'd expect maybe Ichiryuu's episode (prolly 97) to be on the 17th of March, then 2 filler episodes till April's crossover, and the Bubble Fruit to start on the 14th of April with the 3rd year of Toriko.

This weeks' chapter was pretty great, just gotta love how menacing Shima can make old grannys. xD
But it really makes me wonder, how much of the fights we will see. So far we have:

Buranchi vs Elg
Setsuno vs Chiyo
Rin vs Bei, Zaiper & Dohsa
Mansam vs GT-Robos

Soon enough though the Joa group will enter the fight. And right now I have little doubt that Zaus isn't a member of them.
With that this party should also be the one with the highest average age...which is pretty noteworthy in Toriko. :D

For the time yes, but I assume it would be quite easy for him to take over if he wanted to. And technicaly he'd be completely in the right, as far as Livebearer and co are concerned.

One enough interesting thing I got just now: Melk the First mentioned only four kitchen knives who impressed him, Setsuno's, Zaus', Frohze's and Komatsu's. He never mentioned Chiyo's kitchen knive. So maybe the user was in fact not interesting.

Chiyo is second tier. Setsuno was just kind enough to call her a rival. Even her partner, Chin is second tier compared to Jirou. Also it's funny how she dissed Food Honor, yet she keeps using it.

I'm reading the series from the beginning. The growth of Toriko and the other Kings since the beginning is overwhelming. During Puffer Whale's arc Toriko and Coco had to join their power to take down the Devil Serpent. Seeing how they grew, now that fight makes me laugh

So thinking about Toriko (series, not character), and I really don't get the point of giving Rin gourmet cells. I mean she really has no abilities, except maybe immunity to the pheromones she uses. I mean she uses the pheremones, but she has to derive them from actual animals and load them into a weapon to release them, so you can't say that's her power. And when you think about it, the ability to produce Pheremones was given to Warden Love who is vastly more useful and versatile than Rin. I'm wondering if that will ever be brought up though, but I kind of doubt it

half the characters that exist haven't done anything that special, they just have cool designs, most of them have literally done nothing, not that it will remain that way but I'd say the majority of the characters are mediocre or below, they just look like Badasses

The badass design is enough for me to put all of them over Rin. Zonge is completely useless, still he's way (and way) better than Sani's sister. Any of cooks at the Fest, though unknown, is way better than Rin. I don't like her design too.

This arc is an ending to a kind of Toriko part 1. They had practically started from zero and Toriko grew to be a person who can hold his ground against Starjun. Further this festival we will have Gourmet World which is another get go for Co- like the series' start point all over again… Although it's much of an obvious, it's good to remember and share it.

I think he would prefer gruesome fights and handle her off-panel but he decided to let her take a role. And I don't think after the way he skipped the cooking part we won't get too see Rin fight atleast three or four pages.

It's kinda weird to say that they started from zero since they were all notable people in their professions at the start of the show. The 4 Kings, pretty much top of their field. Otherwise I don't think they'd have that nickname. Komatsu was really the only one who was an "unknown" or a newbie.

But that was actually something I loved about this series. It wasn't about a bunch of young scrappers with no money, no recognition. They are grown adults that are successful with what they do. It's a nice break from the usual Shonen titles.

But it's not like we saw any others in their job that were better than them other than villains or people that were their predecessors. They all had rabid fans so I wouldn't consider them to be low on the ladder either. Or course they weren't god level, but they were still ridiculous.

To me it was more of their potential and abilities than their actual strenght, not all Bishokuya have Gourmet Cells, Special Powers, and a training by none other than the IGO president and Acacia´s disciple, Ichiryuu (on this case, indeed, no one else had this advantage). All this stuff made them greater than they actually were to the normal people´s eyes.

Also, they had a bit of struggle here and there with beasts below level 30 because they´ve been taking it easy for a while. Toriko was barely doing any big job, Coco was just fortunetelling, and prolly Sunny was sorta taking it easy as well.

An example, during the Century Soup arc, among Colonel Mokkoi crew, only Teppei (who is as famous as the Kings) was stronger than Toriko, who was much stronger than anyone else.

Well, you're not giving credit to Match and Takimaru. They weren't as strong as Toriko or Teppei, but they did both defeat their own Branch Chef, which is no small feat.

Shima himself described Boogie Woods and Barrygamon as far stronger than Takimaru and Match, in fact they recuperated soon after their loss while Match and Takimaru were unable to do anything.

The easy superiority of Toriko was undoubted.
