There's also that piece of meat missing on the left (I think) of his torso
and the other leg is broken and burned
huh, writing that, actually makes me realize that this might the worst condition any shonen protagonist has been since maybe Gon, but even in the hunter world there would be no coming back from this shit, unless you use that card, but I digress
Edit; oh, there is also Luffy coming back from the verge of death after Magellans baptismā¦good moments in general
Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!
-
-
-
Wellā¦ not much to say, I like the creatures' designs in general, and Ichiryuu's power being chopsticks is something I love.
-
When I look at Melk I can't stop think of Beorn from "The Hobbit" (book).
-
Not let a dangerous enemy get his hands on a knife that can cut a very important ingredient: drop it down underground.
Prevent an imminent battle that will likely destroy everything in its wake harm your two loyal followers and why not, the Human World as well: let's take it far above the clouds.
Ichiryuu is the smartest guy, period.
-
It's not likely Midora wouldn't be able to pull off the giant knife from the ground after the fight unless Melk wouldn't pull off and save it after his fight (no doubt Melk would win).
-
That Rampage monster remembers me Shingeki no Kyojin.

That's assuming the knife isn't at the other side of the planet now
-
i don't understand Midora.. was he provoking Ichiryuu when he said "become their food oldman" and the point of using all that beasts to attack Ichiryuu? i mean, he, Midora is one of the 3 strongest person in the world along side Ichiryuu and Jiro so he supposedly knew that Ichiryuu can easily handled all 3 beasts. unless Midora is far weaker and having trouble handling that 3 beasts this doesn't make sense. and what was the point of him monologue-ing the basic of Ichiryuu's power? its not like that is the first time he seen it and he didn't even think about how to counter it.. it more like just to explain to the readers more than anything.
-

Even if it's the sharpest knife in the world sooner or later it must stop ;)

This is a ploy of the author. No doubt Midora knew these beasts could never be a match for Ichiryuu, he was only provoking the old man. And, for me, no doubt Midora is stronger than Ichryuu. Well, if you think about it we know Ichiryuu is well aware of how strong Midora has become since the events after his visit at Bishokukai Gourmet World HQ. In fact even Sestuno was surprised watching Ichiryuu eating that much to prepare to his fight against Midora. She wondered "is Midora growth that much greater than expected?" so Midora is really much stronger than what everyone knew him expect to be.
This chapter was made to create hype around Ichiryuu.I hope we'll see some of the other fights too. I can't wait to see Goblin Ramon!
Rampage beast resembled me the Daruma guy in Buranchi memories.
-
Even if it's the sharpest knife in the world sooner or later it must stop ;)
Nah, I was just kidding. Look at the last panel, that is where the knife stopped digging underground. It's fairly obvious why Ichiryuu left it behind and who's going to pick it up.
-
Well, as things are now, stating tha Midora, Ichiryuu and Jirou are the three strongest people in the world, I think the "ranking" is this:
Midora > Ichiryuu > Jirou -
That Rampage monster remembers me Shingeki no Kyojin.
The perfect pet for Livebearer.
-
there is beyond enough attack on titan stuff everywhere i lookā¦ can we keep it out of the toriko topic? thanks.
IĀ“m sure Midora sent beasts at first the same way Tommyrod sends bugs. Because he doesnĀ“t feel like fighting himself unless he gets interested or as last resource.
-
and midora actually thought that those beasts would be enough to scare ichiryuu.. hahaa
man uses chopsticks to pick the all and play with them.. :p
-
yeah i don't see how midora could ever think those would hurt ichiryu
I mean just look at it this way, we know a full grown battle wolfs capture level exceeds a thousand
we heard they run in groups in the gourmet world, and we've seen a picture of a group of them attacking that king land shark thing that's on Jirou's full course menu
that means a bunch of monsters with capture levels exceeding a thousand need to team up in order to beat an even stronger monster, and one of that's on Jirou's menu who's close to the power level of Ichiryu and Midora, hence capture levels below a thousand shouldn't even scare ichiryu
unless Midora thinks he's lost a lot of power with age, which I think is going to be the main reason he loses to midora, because obviously Midora found some way to slow down his aging while Jirou and Ichiryu look young, but still a little older than there pics in there youth
-
there is beyond enough attack on titan stuff everywhere i lookā¦ can we keep it out of the toriko topic? thanks.
It's not like it's completely off topic or we're talking about the series directly. I'd bet that the Rampage monster was designed specifically from a fan who took the idea from reading/watching the show/series. But yeah, that's probably the last I'll mention that here.
As for the beast themselves, people can try to justify it however they like, they were clearly just fodder so Ichiryuu can show off his skills. That's their function within the story. Midora was most likely trying to taunt Ichiryuu with his words saying how Ichi has weakened/Midora has grown stronger.
-
the problem is Ichiryuu beat all 3 beast effortlessly without showing off his skill.. Unless next week, all the beasts actually have some sort of secret weapon or can actually increase their strength super saiyajin style like Midora said, some species in the gourmet world that alter capture levels.
-

While it's true that it's obvious that those beasts are no match for Ichiryuu, But maybe Midora is gauging Ichiryuu's power to see if his power has decreased with age or not.
-
I don't care for this fight, was mainly ogling the monsters, lol
I think it's because I already know the outcome. It was always obvious that Ichi had gravity-related powers and Midora has probably another one of these standard cosmic abilities that almost all end-game characters seem to have in comics where supernatural being beat the shit out of each other (at least in the Marvel universe it is), so there there is no sense of discovery or finding out something that has been secret so long
That's why Elg appeared to be so ominous and mysterious at the beginning, we only knew his name and that's it, made finding out about him and his abilities much more exciting, especially because Shima teased us with mentioning him many chapters before. I dunno,
I just hope this was the set-up and next week we'll finally see what Kuromado can do. I have no fucking idea why, but I'm just expecting him to shed his skin during the fight and reveal that he's actually some huge spider or something like that -
I wonder why on chapter 101 Kariu and Boneless werenĀ“t among the characters Alfaro stated were able to go to the GW
My guess is that they were Elite members way before Kuromado became one.
Or that Shimabu havenĀ“t even thought about them, nor having 3 Head Chefs, back then.
Orā¦ They werenĀ“t ready yet, which I doubt, because even a Branch Chief achieved GW level before two Head Chefs (thought, that BC is Elg, who is on another level than your regular BC)
-
Thanks Kewl.
Not a bad chapter, but I do hope we focus on the other fights as well. Please Shima.
Oh and anyone thing Rampage was inspired by Shingeki no Kyojin ?
-
The best thing to come from this chapter is clearly Rampage. Just look at that smile! I want it as my animal partner. Clearly Rampage>God
! I never want to meet the person who designed this thing.
-

Upon hearing from Alfaro Midora ordered to have all the members taste the Century Soup so their cells can evolve further and increase the number of people that can enter GW. Both interpretations, that they were already there and that they weren't ready yet and managed to get there much later are valid. My guess is the same as yours, that they were already elite members before Kuromado, especially because this one was at the Bishokukai HQ in HM. Whether this means they are stronger is another matter. Dores also wasn't meantioned, which doesn't surprise me since his authority lies above the Head Chefs.
-

Maybe it's because they were Gourmet World elite already while people like Starjun, Tommy, Grinpatch, Elg and Kuromado too, despite their ranking, were already able to go to Gourmet World but they all worked for Midora in Human World. Neither Dores was mentioned, nor Bile, so this doesn't matter.
I was thinking of something: Komatsu is considered a genius because of his skills and the fact he's only 25. But hey, Buranchi is a damn god! He's younger (24) and lives in Gourmet World. So he must be able to confront beast with absurd capture levels. Well, in fact it could be normal form him to take down beasts like those seen in the last chapters. Well, maybe not effortlessly but normal
And about Starjun and his being the second strongest Bishokukai member: don't yo remember what Kuromado said when he appeared for the first time? He said something about the walls to "break" to grow in power. Well, Kuromado said the total number of walls to break shows a human's potential. Maybe Starjun (we know he was born with Gourmet Cells) has the greatest potential within the Bishokukai except for Midora.
-
I think I'm gonna let Toriko chapters pile up for a while. Just not getting that excited from recent chapters. Events are so slow, and can't stand Midora's condescending speeches every page. And the worst part is we already know that he'll win. I'll be back when Zebra's owning again or something exciting happened with Toriko.

I've had that speech of Kuromado about the potential in mind for god knows how many weeks since Joa named laveled Starjun the 2nd strongest.

The Rampage creature reminds me very much of this (warning: scary picture):

The Rampage creature reminds me very much of this:
Posting this in a thread, so I'll go here unaware to see such a photo all suddenly, is not very nice. :I
Rampage is quite an awesome beast though. The chapter itself didn't do much for me tbh. Wasting some pages to introduce some beasts that get taken out immediately after anyways, some explanation of Ichiryuu's powers and him using his chopsticksā¦just doesn't feel like anything really happend this chapter, except some hype for Ichi.
Most interesting thing was the little bit we got about Midora and Ichiryuu's past (and that panel of pissed Ichiryuu). Hope to see the other sectors soon again, kinda more interested in them right now.
-
Aside from rampage and the nightmares its going to give me, I foung ichiryuu calling midora rotten food pretty sassy.
! its ok though since midora apparently kicks his ass
-
Yeah, IĀ“m going to assume Kariu and Boneless became GW material before Kuromado then.
fuck that picture scared me, could you put it under spoiler k thx
-
-
I think Dores will get killed and Niceny will be revealed as a NEO.
Then we will have Starjun as Executive Chef and Grinpatch as Aid to Executive Chef
-
Yeah, IĀ“m going to assume Kariu and Boneless became GW material before Kuromado then.
I still think Kuromado was already Gourmet World elite at that time and maybe before Kariu and Boneless but these last two were assigned to Gourmet World since the beginning (why? I don't know!) while Kuromado was assigned to Gourmet World and to the research of ingredients to break the Gourmet Cells potential walls.
If you think about chapter 172, when Kaitora e Kariu threw their attacks to Ichiryuu, it's Kuromado who spoke like this:"My apologies, Ichiryuu. With this group Gourmet Cells active the way they are they're itching to test their power, it seems". And then Dores spoke. It seems those two, beyond the ranking, were the heads of the group. So it could easily be that Kuromado is stronger (and Gourmet World elite before) than Kariu and Boneless.
@Skadi:fuck that picture scared me, could you put it under spoiler k thx
Though scary, that picture made laugh a lot. Where is it taken from?
-
@Galaxy:
OMG. Is that blood at 00:05 and 00:06?
The animation looks really awesome in this one. Can't damn wait :)
Thanks, Galaxy -
Blood in Toriko's anime? That's a surprise.
-
Sorry. I've put it in spoiler tags.
@Area51: It's from a creepypasta called Smile Dog.
-
I wonder if Toei realized that they can't avoid the blood anymore after seeing the Starjun vs Toriko.
-
blood in the Toriko anime
-goes to balcony, takes a deep breath, and smiles at the sun- what a time to be alive
@Area51: Maybe Kuromado is the charismatic one of the trio. Or the one to hold a rational conversation with.
-

Yes, maybe. But while Kariu was shocked when Ichiryuu escaped from his Hachou (+Tablecloth by Kaitora), Kuromado was the only Bishokukai member, along with Dores, to remain calm during Ichiryuu using his gravity power. More experience, more calm, maybe more strenght.
-
Well, becoming GW Elite earlier doesnĀ“t officially state they are more experienced and stronger.
-

Yeah I have also noticed whether be it (Nitro's) or (Scum Beast) or the one's from the latest chapter, it seem like the threat they had is gone, I mean of course am aware that guys like Jirou, ichiyuu or even midora can toy with them, but am hoping there are wild ones that's can't be tamed or one shotted so easily in the future.
The chapter was alright for a set up, I like the place where Mid and Ichi are fighting, it does explain how the meteor spice was coming raining down like that.
-
Well, becoming GW Elite earlier doesnĀ“t officially state they are more experienced and stronger.
I don't know, I think people like Kuromado, Starjun or Grinpatch were Gourmet World material far before Alfaro told Midora about them.
-
it's sad how seeing a army of Nitros before would have had us all likeā¦ "OH SHIT!!!" but after Zebra easily handled three of them it's like "ehhh probably just GW fodder)"
I'm hoping there's diffrent levels of nitro with varying strength and maybe even a king Nitro that can redeem the hype they once had
-
Well, becoming GW Elite earlier doesnĀ“t officially state they are more experienced and stronger.
Yeah, totally agree with that. I don't think either the chef ranking/position or when they got considered GW material is a statement of their power, strength, whatever you want to name it either.

Yeah, I preferred the Nitros when they were still less humanoid, sleeker, without those muscles. Making them buff like hell somehow made them appear LESS intimidating than not having hit the gym 24/7.
-
We still might see more intelligent and stronger nitro later on. There is still that nitro that ate the ether herb earlier, I don't think he has made another appearnce yet.
-

Maybe because everyone in this series already looks hooked on Meteor Garlic as is ? Yeah I disliked the Gourmet Robots, then the actual Nitro showed up and I was intrigued but so far have been rather meh in execution.
Also I do not care how crazy your universe is, making a humanoid creature capable to be alive for "months" without a head is still stupid.
-
@No:

Well yes but that was a miracle case, and I'm pretty sure his head didn't explode :P

Yeah am pretty sure Shima will introduce more intelligent and possibly uncontrollable one's as the story progresses, if am not mistaken that nitro showed up during the BB Corn Arc, and if my memory isn't playing tricks with me, it was said they know the location GOD, or they have some kinda connection to it. The question is where do the Nitro's come from, we know there are some from the gourmet world, but it wouldn't surprise me if some are from space.
