I loved this chapter! Can't wait to see Robin in action! She's always been one of my favorites, so it will be nice to see her fighting!
Chapter 642: Losing Face

@Fire Fist:
Still waiting on this guy to show up:

Guy in the upper right, with the swords. Per his speech bubbles, he says something about Hachi.
If he's talking about Hachi then it's definitely an earlier design for Hyouzou.
Face it people, Hyouzou is as good as FI swordsmen get. The only saving grace his character can get right now is if he power-ups even more. I am very disappointed with his character. Had the potential to be so much, ended up so little. Like a lot of stuff in this arc. -
Pretty good chapter. The art of the backgrounds were bugging me though. They weren't as pretty as usual. The sea forest was not as nice.
Hammond is back like a boss!
Sanji trolling Wadatsumi was hilarious.
I am liking Chopper's new heavy point.
Another badass moment for Zoro this arc. Slicing swords vertically? Awesome. -

People, just look on the early designs of the CP9. This 8-armed dude won't show up. Like cooldud said: thats an early design for Hyozo.
To your 2nd point:
I'm currently also disappointed by Hyozo. I hope he drinks more and gets way more powerful than he is now.
And yes to your 3rd point:
This arc was hyped b4 like no one other, but yet it doesn't reach my expectations of it. Of course there are sum plot devices that rocked (tenryuubito shipwreck @ FI, Tiger being a former slave, Otohime being shot by Hody, FI under BigMoms control).
I hope we'll get to know sum history bout Noah, JoyBoy and Hody that will blow our minds again. The most mindblowin things so far were the things I mentioned above, Shirahoshi being big and able to summon sea kings as well as Kizaru captured Arlong. The thing I liked this chapter was Hammond acting like a world noble, Zoro slicing swords vertically and of course Franky shogun goofin around. -
Hodi's body = blackbeard's body
-
Well still want to see what SanjI's plan is… i'm sticking to the theory that he wants to use Wadatsumi to stop Noah. It wouldbe perfectly fitting for his character and irony if the man, who spended 2 years in hell, will save mermaid heaven

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr no.

He is simply tricking him into annihilating the remaining fodder fishmen. This is certainly his chapter, good old -smart- Sanji seems to be back (and I really hope Oda stops the Okama nosebleed crap for a chapter or 2).
Jinbe is awesome as ever, and the "dirt" were there from the very beginning I believe, since he got captured on purpose. Tho I'm not sure what he is exactly attacking here:

Looks like a powerful shockwave to me, but aimed at who?
-
Oh jeez, it took me like five reads to figure out this page (http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/55924931/17)
Didn't realize Ikaros was using a clone against Franky, that's actually really cool.
-
Well, it`s even spelled out in that middle panel ^^

No, i think that actually hyouzu is the strongest of FI. He has still his poison trumpcard.
-
I love the Zoro and Chopper moment. Zoro always seem to be a big brother to chopper since they met. Chopper normally rides on his head or run to him. Glad Oda is showing it more here.

Yeah same like Usopp/Sanji… Chopper seems to interact with Zoro more. It was very well done
Off topic
Did you spelled you user name wrong? -

Couldn't agree more, I've always really enjoyed the relationship between Chopper and Zoro. I also like how it isn't always what you'd think (like Zoro's reaction to Chopper's crying during the Davy Back Fight).

Zoro enjoys Chopper's innocence and at the same time is always trying to make more of a (hu)man out of him.
-
I thought this chapter was great! Personally, I never cared for Hyozou…don't know why, his whole "drunken style" and character just never did anything for me. But I know a lot of people here love that guy...octo-guy. Maybe or maybe not Zoro will get poisoned, it's uncertain for right now, but what if that does happen just so Hyozou fanboys get their "pseudo-even playing field" only for Zoro near the end to actually open his scarred eye and cut away. Next scene, Hyozou is defeated and we're left with the mystery of what's behind the eye to which people will hypothesize it's sharigan or rinnegan or byakugan or whatever for the next dozen of chapters. XD
-
Why do you bring this up?
-
I'm really gonna go with the flow of the last few messages and say I love the Chopper moment too. Nice seeing him grow as a character.
I always tought he'd be one of the SHs who'd grow the most since, he's still a kid, while all the others are much further into their lives.
And his relationship with Zoro is awesome as ever, I agree with everyone! -
Hyouzou, what happened to you? You used to be cool…
-
@Sonic:
Hyouzou, what happened to you? You used to be cool…
Zoro killed Hyouzou's cool with his own cool
-
Zoro killed Hyouzou's cool with his own cool
Hyouzou lost his cool long before that my friend.
-
Hyouzou lost points the moment he ate those pills IMO.

Agreed everyone in the crew likes each other, but Oda went out of his way to show special relationship between certain characters. Luffy and Usopp too.
-
I think the fight with Hyouzou is just about over, seeing as his swords shattered, unless he has more tricks up his sleeves.
-
don't get me wrong Zoro is strong and all but it is to quick of a fight I'm thinking Hyouzou still has a trick up his sleeve (or skin if no sleeves) somewhere
-
I think the fight with Hyouzou is just about over, seeing as his swords shattered, unless he has more tricks up his sleeves.
The battle hasn't even started. When we get a half or full chapter devoted to a fight then we'll see. We are going to see one on ones just like the old days. No way that was even the start of the actual fight.
-
What's he going to do whithout swords? Zoro said he needed a swordfight for practice for the new world, and now he said that he needed a stronger fighter than Hyouzou.

With so many fights, and considering the level of opponent, I don't think this is going to happen. Maybe a third of a chapter at most.
-
can it be that Hody is crossed breed? That one of his parent is human and that he was abandoned and that's why he specialy has something against humans… after all if I got it right his close crew are parentless kids, aren't they?
-
Soon his past will be revelead… But I think he is related to Tiger
-
If Fisher Tiger is Hody's father, I'm going to be disappointed. Hody must've found out about his true parentage recently, otherwise it won't work.

Prepare to MAYBE be dissapointed… Even if I dunno, why it would dissapoint someone
And yeah Hody, the white shark fishmen, really looks human. But we will see
-
Finally got around to reading the chapter… I liked it! It had that good ol' Straw Hats feel to it.
I loved Sanji agitating Wadatsumi, being all cool. Definitely the Sanji I love and missed.
Oh and I really like the panel of Wadatsumi's face with Sanji standing on it.The Zoro-Chopper moment was a tad corny, but cute aswell. And Zoro just looked cool as hell.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---

Exactly what I was thinking! I always love their interactions.

That will be something. the man died urging his comrades not to hate humans, only to have his son become the biggest racist of the island.

Repost: I call Nami vs. "Hiccup". No comments on that at all? Since Hammond showed up again, I'm sure so will he…

Well, given that we haven't seen enough from either one, we don't know how well they fair in one-on-one matches. I doubt they'd be one-hit KO's, but like all the others so far, the SH crew are owning left and right. I'm hoping for a hilarious end to Robin vs Hammond; likewise with the possible Nami vs "Hiccup" (though he hasn't even been given a name yet, so it's still uncertain).

Sure, I don't expect them to be overly serious matches, and it won't be too much of a challenge either, I assume, just like all of the SH's fights so far - no one seems in trouble as it is. But with the likely Robin vs. Hammond match up (however much of a match that will be; it's at least a "confrontation" with a previously shown character…), I think Nami facing our only remaining pre-"showdown" introduced character (although nameless) is a very probable possibility.
-

The whole timeskip would be useless if these fights were a challenge. The real battle is when they hit the New World. If there's any "I must use my ultimate technique" lines here, I'll be pissed.
-
Tiger being the father=not very compelling
Tenryubito as the father=now we're getting somewhere! -
That will be something. the man died urging his comrades not to hate humans, only to have his son become the biggest racist of the island.
And why… Because Arlong lied about the story how Fisher Tiger died
-
I just hope the big reveal won't have anything to do with Hody being related to someone shocking (Tiger, World Noble or another human). This "he is the son of [!!!]" cliche is easily one of the most overused in any work of fiction, ignoring we kind of had that already with Luffy being Dragons son.
I would prefer something like Hody being the last of an extinct fishmen clan. Got that idea from his tattoo, because when you ignore the Arlong symbol on his left arm, the rest of his tattoo looks like some kind of tribal. -
But whatever Hody's past is I can't see how that would stop Luffy from kicking his ass, not when everyone on Fishman Island already hate him.
And it's not like Hody is going to digievolve again, right? RIGHT?
-

Well… We know by this
that Tiger believed in the next generation and Hody and the NFP are this new generation… But I think Hody never knew about that and by the wrong story from Arlong about Tiger's death it did exactly the opposite and Hody's hate has grown up... Someting Tiger hasn't wanted
-
And being out of a clan makes him hate human mosts and let the princes and Shirahoshi being shocked
I don't really care how Oda would integrate it into the story and what the other possibilities are, my point was I want anything but Hody being Tigers son, because it's a shitty and overused trope.

that would be extreemely interesting, since that would mean there is a fishmen tenryuubito, and tahts just gonna be great new mess for us to dive into

Repost: I call Nami vs. "Hiccup". No comments on that at all? Since Hammond showed up again, I'm sure so will he…
I prefer nami vs caribu
-
I quite like the idea of Hody being half human - I think it would give him quite an interesting angle on his hatred of the humans.
Also pretty happy with how things are going with this arc. I would have hated it if Oda would have summed up the entire species of fishmen as being only able to get as naturally powerful as the Neptune brothers (with the exception of Jimbei). Either I hope that the truly bad ass fishmen will appear as foes throughout the New World or I hope that the NFP's give the SH's a bit of challenge otherwise it would seem like a dismisal of fishmen as soon as we leave their island. But it is a difficult line to walk as we need to see decent progression from the SH's, some new techniques (not all) to justify the time-skip while not making the NFP's total fodder - so yeah, relieved to see Chopper's hand a little hurt from the hammer even if he is going to stomp.
Loved Chopper and Zoro's interaction, that is what the SH pirates are all about imo, and the frame showing Sanji on Wadatsumi's face was epic!
