Now I want to see Ron's Ron shirt that is as bad as Ron himself.
Harry Potter and the Fantastic Beasts 2: Grindelwald Boogaloo

As far as I'm concerned, this version of Voldemort's downfall is canon. Dying to Ron magic is way better than dying to being a complete idiot. This version of Harry's heroic sacrifice is also much more badass.
-
Speaking of shirts, "The dark arts better be worried, oh boy." should become a T-shirt.

With a picture of Harry yelling it while falling down stairs.
-
Guess Ron really knows how to deal properly with his soon-to-be parents-in-law.

To be fair, Harry was about to do the same to Hermione. The Grangers must taste delicious.
-
Speaking of fanfiction, the writing quality definitely isn't on the level of Cursed Child.
-
Make a movie out of this, maybe.
-
Who knew that becoming Hagrid was so easy? Dumbledore should have just made everybody Hagrid while he was at it.
-
"Harry tore his eyes from his head and threw them into the forest. Voldemort raised his eyebrows at Harry, who could not see anything at the moment"
Ahahahahah genius.
""Not so handsome now" thought Harry as he dipped Hermione is hot sauce"
Fan-fuckin-tastic

Just got the Hogwarts Mystery app. Went with Hufflepuff since that's the House I got sorted into online. Currently waiting for more energy points, so I can escape plant tentacles.
-
The second the game asked me to wait hour or pay to stop vines from strangling me is the moment I uninstalled the app.
We remain without a proper, video game Hogwarts experience, and it baffles me that such an easy experience to adapt remains so incompetently lacking in great games.

I'm honestly surprised we don't have a high-budget interactive fiction game for the HP universe. That shit would make bank.

I know!
Classes set-up offering different engagement cycles? Check
Different houses and species to offer character diversity? Check
System set-up to encourage competition between factions? CheckThe game designs itself. Just make a "second life" type of experience and that alone would make all of the money, much in the same way just the simple idea of letting people catch pokemon in the read world made bank despite having flaws.
-
Game: Would you like the hardest version of this class to get more rewards?
Sure?
Game: Okay. Make sure to check your phone every two hours for the next 8 hours.
:/
-
I wish we got a big triple a Harry Potter game. The universe and school setting are so rich to do cool things and gameplay, really a shame we only get mobile stuff.
-
I haven't deleted the app quite yet, as I do love to see the Hufflepuff common room in full and being in class. But we'll see.

Dammit! Don't make me dream like that!
-
I don't generally play Mobile games, but it does seem pretty ridiculous. Like I'm going to pay a HUNDRED dollars to get a lot of gems, so I can fast forward time and get a crappy virtual shirt and watch. The default school outfit looks a lot better than most of the stuff to actually pay for.

Here's all the common rooms if you're interested.
-
So if you keep going you can make friends with Bill Weasley and Tonks. Okay, I can go with that. Exploring Hogwarts (as much as you can, anyway) is also definitely interesting. But . . .
Having to wait for energy points to finish class is annoying, but thankfully I don't care enough. I think you missed something, game.

Right? Nobody would love a t-shirt or a necklace more than the Hogwarts robes.

Sweet. Thanks.
All are perfectly lovely rooms (Slytherin is nicer than you think), but Hufflepuff is still the coziest.
-
After playing this a little more, I am reminded of something: how much I love Professor Flitwick.
But seriously though, even first years have Transfiguration and Herbology classes. Why are we only doing Charms and Potions?

And Quidditch!

If I remember correctly, you can explore the common rooms in the Lego Harry Potter games.
-
Don't you want to shell out money for all these cool outfits!

So I saw, but those are Lego rooms, which aren't quite the same.

snort
I did unlock a nice Hufflepuff scarf though. Didn't bother to buy it, but it accented the Hogwarts robes nicely.
-
With some of the rewards in classes, I've seen 1000 coin rewards, so I can see being able to afford some stuff down the line if interested.
Oh and here's the Jimquisition.
-
snorting laughter Oh, I love Jimquisition. And he gets everything right, basically. The only thing I'd say for it now is that the story is vaguely interesting, which is how they keep getting you to spend your energy.
-
I like how he references a "no-name developer." Oh Jim, you haven't heard of Jam City? He'd have a fucking field day over how by-the-book Jam City is about monetization in mobile games. I did research on their company a while back and ALL of their games start off basic and letting you play and then suddenly go "OH NO, GUESS YOU HAVE TO PAY MONEY NOW"
More people need to know about Jam City, that way we can ideally reach a future where seeing their logo associated with a property will immediately warn everyone that it will be an opportunistic trash-fire.
-
lmao @ the new thread title.
-
One of my biggest dreams in middle and high school was to make an open world Hogwarts RPG where you could play through all seven years as a custom character.
It's sad to see the first such game is a freemium game for mobile devices.
-
The thing is I can see little bits and pieces that would make it a better game. Just got to dueling, which is like rock-paper-scissors, but it gives you a chance to feel like you're actually using magic. Also in classes sometimes you have to answer questions or "focus", which means tapping when a circle is in just the right place. It's not just the energy tapping.
I'm giving this app until the first year is finished (so I can meet Bill Weasley), and then I'll decide if it gets deleted.

I don't think you meet Bill til sometime in year 2.
-
Dammit.
So yes, dueling Merula was more fun than any of this "tapping" shit. But somehow I have a feeling that dueling will not be a readily available thing to do.

I'm pretty much done with year 1, and I think there was about 4 duels.
Also, the next story event requires me to wait 8 hours…
-
This post is deleted!
-
That was already posted. Literally on the same page.
Also, regarding gameplay, I still feel like action commands can hardly count as such. And the story never reached enough levels of sophistication to merit sitting through tapping and action commands. If the game is essentially playing itself and isn't offering anything elsewhere, there's hardly any point to it and just winds up being a waste of time.

-
2nd year definitely goes by a lot slower with spells requiring 6 stars and more.
-
I thought the next mobile game was supposed to be Harry Potter Go. How many shitty cash-ins does one franchise need in a single year?

At least 15. I'm still debating on if I wanna play this. I already wasted time on the Animal Crossing pocket camp and I'm knees deep in Love Nikki, Pokemon Go I've dropped because I don't live near pokestops so I ran out of balls and I'm certainly not paying for them.
Is this game worth the download? Does it operate on energy that you can run out of?
-

Not only is that the chief complaint about the game, it also runs out of energy fairly easily evidently, with great hilarity when you need more energy to escape being strangled to death.
Judging by reviews by everyone here, it sure doesn't seem like it's worth the download.

What he said. Like I said I'm giving this game the chance until the end of first year, but I doubt it will convince me by then. So I'll probably delete it.
Also, damn you for introducing me to Love Nikki.

Okay. So I'll skip this then. Unless an overhaul happens.
Also…What's your Nikki code so I can add you? :ninja:

Code? Where is that?

When you tap on your user icon, and then hit settings, it's at the bottom of the window that opens.

Damn, are we going to have to start a Love Nikki thread now?
