I respect the ign review the most seeing how much time they spent dissecting the game.
First day impression is that it's a really addictive game. There's definitely some bugs they need to work on. Most noticeable of all is the one in which when placed in a ranked match, instead of giving me the character I chose I get a random one, which is fun in a custom match but in a ranked match it kind of undoes the hard work from previous rounds. During one round I was given Big Daddy and got completely obliterated.
At this point I'm definitely maining Spike and am getting the hang of Toro. Sackboy it seems I can handle decently, but not solidly enough yet to feel comfortable.
Other impressions:
- Too many noobs using Raiden, gets tiring to go into a match with three of them.
- Drake seems to me to be likely to go far … the people who know how to use him completely wreck.
- Ratchet doesn't seem to need as much balancing as I imagined ... I guess it plays a role that most people by now know to expect his level one.- I'm finding Spike to be extremely reliable and versatile. Everytime I go into a fight with other spikes I see they do things different from what I do, and as a gamer that excites me, that I can use a character in my own signature way. Every single one of his moves has come into play in an interesting way … I can't wait to get more into him and strategize.
- Not sure if it's there, but I would love ranked matches that are 1v1.
