@maggie:
Yeah, I hear ya. Many WCFs are special, they give me the most joy. But several figures now, I get them, unbox, then check it out for a minute or two, then shelf them. To me, that's not the way it should be. All this preorder obtaining, the stress, I don't need it. It's become a different animal than what it once was, when there were only a few POP released a year. Now it's just feeling like blatant consumerism and being taken advantage of. I'm taking my collection, and my wallet, away from the madness. I will keep collecting, but I will love each item and have no regrets. Can't afford it. Space wise or monetarily.
Good luck to those that can! I still will love looking at everyone's loot, but I'll live more vicariously, more appreciating them than needing to own :-)
Yeah I know what you mean. I've said many times that the thing ruining collecting for me is the 1-2 minute (if that) window you get to pre-order or obtain the items. The last straw was when Robin and Chopper figuarts sold out in less than a minute on HLJ. For two items that will obviously be easily obtainable once released they were harder to pre-order than any POP has been this year. And POPs aren't much better. It's ridiculous having to jump through hoops just to get them. I just hope when we get back to the main cast they at least drop the limited sticker.
That coupled with the TERRIBLE set assortments from Bandai just makes me wanna argh. Great Deep Collection having a random 6 out of the 8/9 figures in the set, Styling going from 5 figures in a set to 4 yet keeping the 10 figure in a box (sure you'll get one alt coloured but it's still bad.) not even gonna say how you buying 3 sets in most series in order to get the full crew. Stuff like releasing two Half-Age sets at the same time. Making them a box of 8 and then 4 chars in each. Even if you want one of each that's 16 figures you gotta buy just for 8. Deformaster you have to buy about 30 figures just to get the 9.
Just about everything in OP merch now is forcing you to shell out more money just to get the whole thing, be it be the whole set or the whole crew (if they ever make all nine in some cases.)
