I find that my experience has been completely different. I came out as a brony to my friends, and their first response was amusement.
Their second response was to have weekly viewings of the first season so that they can catch up to the second season. Some of them are much more hardcore bronies than me now, doing fanfiction and fanart and all.

"Coming out" as a brony sounds so funny to me. It's kinda sad that people have to see it as such a big "step", since they are afraid of reactions.
Thank god with my friends I am already known as the one with the kiddy cartoon gimmick, who can beatbox the intro of the powerpuff girls. So MLP was just another one of those shows I like.
But yeah, maybe it's not so much of a step because of my gender and I don't have to fear of "losing my manly image" or something here.
I can see where the problem for guy-fans lies here. But Disney movies also get a tad girly, with their romance and princesses and nobody would call you a weenie for liking the hell out of them, since those movies got heart!On another note, today I decided I'm not mainly into this for the awesome fanart. ACCEPTANCE- "I'm changing my avatar. And here's my fanart!"[/hide]

Dumb is too relative, since most people just wind up saying dumb to whatever they don't agree with or understand.
Ah, I was thinking more extreme than dumb. Like Otaku to most = asocial, anti-social, useless member of society. You know, if someone goes up to you and says "You're an otaku", it could be taken as an insult.
I don't think someone saying "you're a brony" can be as much of an insult. Well … at least not in the circles I frequent.

I watched it, it was well made, very good voices, but unfortunately it felt like a 10 year old's attempt at making "adult" humor.

Just watched the cupcake vid and it was f-yay-ing darn cool! I never would have thought I'd see an Epic meal time parody with ponies, but they pulled it off. The voice actors are probably the best I have heard in a fan work, same goes for the animation! Also loved how in the end Pinkie apparently "stuck a cupcake in her eye" LOL

Damn, that woman has control over her vocal chords, but I think we knew that since the "THIIIS IS WHINING" part.
I just love how wonderfully she can change the pitch and that particular emphasis she puts on words to get that posh feeling across. Probably my fav voice actress from the bunch. Looking forward to hear her Luna.
But yeah, the whole voice cast rocks. I never thought I would see so much love and care put into a kids show in this regard. -
