@S.C.:
I wonder, how big is Jean Bart? Because he held a 9 foot plus fishman like a teddy bear there.
And now that the Sengoku & Garp VS BB thing got extended, it makes Coby's speech even more dumb. "Stop the fighting! The war is over, nevermind the deranged madman trying to destroy the island, killing us all!". Hippy.
Even if it looks dumber, it was still dumb to begin with, and still canon. Oda occasionally strikes out, guys, and I felt like the original chapter was a flop on its own merits.
Thoughts about this ep:
*The fleshed out Burgess/Garp thing was great
*I actually liked some of the music choices with Coby's freak-out
*I also liked the music choice for Shanks's arrival; it felt right to me.
*"meh" about the Whitebeard Pirates' fight getting fleshed out…It was almost as bad as it was in the original chapter IMO. Both the chapter and its corresponding episode make all fourteen of the commanders combined look pathetic vis-a-vis Akainu, which is really sad.
*I HATE the fact that this got lost in translation between manga chapter and episode:

IMO, having Akainu crusading and Blackbeard trolling right next to each other in the same spread was crucial in driving home the point that " 'justice' and 'evil' are the same thing." But due to poor filler execution, and too much Coby focus, that was lost.
All in all…7/10, perhaps? It was a fun episode to watch, but not nearly as good as the 483-487 block.
