I WAS going to say "Dungeons and Dragons," but I thought I would be called "stupid."
hahaha i'll call you stupid anyway if you like :3
It's cool.

Eat shit.
Anyone else wondering where the hell is a sequel to Zone of the Enders?! Imagine the 2nd Runner on current gen systems. That sh!t would look crazy.
Apparently, the game is called Dragon's Dogma.

Yeah, I saw that this morning when I reloaded the page. So really, nobody knows what it is. It could be D&D, or it could be OHGODIHOPEITIS a new Breath of Fire game. But it's okay if I'm wrong…
I would rather guess and be wrong than be too afraid, like a lil' bitch, to guess at all.
Oh… that's what up.
People want games to be more realistic. Isn't the purpose of a game is to evade reality for a short period of time ?
Or perhaps they want to make and live through a new reality, attempting to erase the faults of this world and enjoy another realistic world through gaming.
Or maybe I'm just overexaggerating the whole case of it and missing the whole point of entertainment, but yeah…
'Nyways, though, speaking of games, Homefront looks very nice (or at least, the trailer did). Too bad I don't own an XBox…

Simple. Konami said "MOAR METAL GEAR AND SILENT HILL" while conveniently forgetting every other god damned series they've done.
Seriously, where the hell is Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon?
Apparently, the game is called Dragon's Dogma.

And here I was hoping that Capcom had bought the Double Dragon license from Taito. Ah well, Capcom has had some great games in the past with terrible titles (looking at you, Viewtiful Joe and Pajama Hero Nemo).

It's not, or so the reviews say. The beginning of the game is really strong, but then it turns into a Call of Duty clone in not just gameplay, but in story.

You mean that abomination of a game that all the retailers hyped up and decided to stock instead of Okamiden?
http://www.gamerankings.com/xbox360/960374-homefront/index.html
Yeah. Pretty poor overall it seems
Actually hear Okamiden is a disappointment, too. Or rather people expected it to be as revolutionary as the first, similar to the disappointment in Resident Evil 5 not being the game changer 4 was.
It's receiving pretty positive reviews actually. Most people complaining seem to forget the fact that the DS doesn't have as much power as the Wii so obviously somethings are downgraded.
Still brilliant however.
Looks like EA is in the news again. This time everyone is suing them for Madden. Bout time too.

Bout time too.
The whole concept behind Homefront seemed pretty dumb anyway.
The whole concept behind Homefront seemed pretty dumb anyway.
I rented Homefront and two hours later I returned it, something I almost never do. The game suffered so many flaws like worthless team mates who get in your way and do nothing to help in a gun fight, same guns as most other games of the same type with no feeling to them and poor sound effects, no new or re-worked game mechanics of interest,in game marketing (one battle makes it so you see a Tiger.Com sign the whole time),etc.
The game felt like it was over-hyped and rushed to bank off the CoD trend.
Looks like Dragon's Dogma is the next Breath of Fire game!
The Breath of Fire V director tweeted a little while ago that even though the teaser site just used DD's initials, everyone figured out the official name from the copyright filing. He didn't say that he was referring to this game in particular, but what else would he be talking about?
If people didn't know it was going to be a Breath of Fire game before, whelp, you tweeting to complain about how people "figured it out" certainly didn't help, genius.
does a little dance
The Breath of Fire series was one of my favorite and most beloved RPG franchises. If this is indeed the next BoF, I'll shit bricks.
Ugly American's getting a game, didn't see that coming but sweet!

This seriously just made me grin. I'd be so excited for another Breath of Fire, even if it's some sort of "spiritual succesor".

More BoF2, less Dragon Quarter. Seriously, if they hadn't slapped the BoF logo on that game, I never woulda known it was the same franchise at all. Its easy to see why they didn't call it part 5 at the time, but still…
Hopefully this one won't end with them fighting God , finding out its making the world a better place, killing it, and thus dooming the planet.... again.

This. Bout time they released a new one.
Although dooming planets seem to be the norm for JRPG endings these days XD
Here's hoping it's on the PS3.
Seriously, where the hell is Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon?
I think the last game was the DS one from a few years back.
For your viewing pleasure; 2 hours of video game fatalities.
Dunno if we have a topic. But IGN's put up a comic for Portal 2. Not having played the first game it's just confusing and kinda made me lose hope in just buying the 2nd off the shelves.
http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/116/1160605p1.html
art is nice tho.
Looks like Dragon's Dogma isn't a BOF game.
Still hope that someday capcom make another in the vein of BOF2 or 3.
CRAPtivate emabrgo's just dropped, and DD is a new IP.
New IP? I'm always down for that! Disappointed it's not a return to Breath of Fire (unless maybe it's a spiritual successor, one last ditch hope), but I'm always cool with veteran companies going for a new IP.
Doesn't really look to be my thing
generic third person action.

As opposed to a generic turn-based RPG? Because that's what BoF is.
Using the good ol' cautiously optmistic approach for DD. Holy Hell has the right idea - it should be applauded when one of the big-boy companies standing on a mountain of sequels takes a risk with a new IP.
Well, okay, but…
Damnit. >:

Yes? I do believe I put the words "my thing" in there.
And in any event, the two BOF games I like, 2 & 3, did some interesting things of their own, such as having your own town & the gene/master systems in 3. Not to mention the good sense of humour they have, and 3 having one of the best stories in any rpg going.
I feel ya. Wasn't trying to be obnoxious with that reply, but as someone who enjoys generic RPGs and generic action games, I felt your statement was a little… humorous.
And truthfully, I don't have any real BoF hate. Beat the second one, never finished 3 or 4 but own both. Consider all three to be pretty solid oldschoolers. Haven't played more than 20 minutes of the original or any of Dragon Quarter.
Breath of Fire 2 was the first RPG I ever played, loved it so much it was the first game I downloaded off the virtual console.
Oh wow, looks generic as all hell. We sure this isn't Dragon Age III?
Recently picked up Sakura Wars: So Long My Love for the PS2 and Tales of the Abyss. Then I found out the $30 I spent on SW was better off held onto just one more week, seeing as how the game just dropped to $20 today. DAMMIT!
Either way, I'm havin' trouble deciding on which of the two to start on first.
Is that the same Sakura Wars that was on the Wii? I initially bought it from amazon for the PS3 but got sent that one instead.

You watch your goddamn mouth. This year's Captivate wasn't bad.
Props for Capcom making a new game, but it better not be ass, although I'm sure it won't be…
It's looks interesting, I had wondered when someone was going to try to do more with the RE styled controls, the story seems generic at first glance but a lot can happen in a year. Or not.

Same one, yeah. Only difference is the Wii version uses the Wii remote and only has English voice acting. PS2 version came with extra goodies and two discs featuring an English dub and the original Japanese audio.
Rumour has it that another God Of War game (IV) is to be released next year. Along with another for the NGP.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109400-Rumor-Sony-Planning-God-of-War-IV-for-2012
Here's hoping they make up for the mess that was called God of War III.
As if there was any doubt this was gonna be a long generation: http://m.kotaku.com/5794000/microsoft-and-sony-targeting-2014-for-new-consoles-leaving-nintendo-in-the-clear
I'm glad, considering I only got a PS3 in 2009. I got a Wii in 2009, too… but that proved to be a poor purchase on my part. I can't honestly see myself buying a Wii 2 unless/until it gets a really strong third-party lineup (I'm sorry, I doubt care for first-party Nintendo properties).
Not surprising. MS & Sony are both net losers in the videogame industry - not very surprising for microsoft, but it's astonishing when you consider how successful the psx & ps2 were. Just goes to show how expensive R&D costs are.
Now nintendo can just waltz in with a console that's more powerful then either the ps3 or 360, costs them little in terms of r&d for cpu or gpu components, and if they play their cards right with third parties, get the best version of any multi-plat game.
Assuming their controller isn't crazy.
If the nintendo successor is successful though, we'll probably have new sony & MS stuff a year after.
Wii 2 rumors are talking about the controller having a touchscreen. Do not want.
I still haven't bought a PS3. And Sony swore at the time it was gonna be a 10 year system, so… I'm fine with that.
And really, the graphics are already as good as a team can make them with five years of development time and millions of dollars in the budget, anything crazier than the realism we're already getting will take so much time to create it'll be ridiculous. I mean, someone at Square can spend three days painting up a rock for FF13 that appears for 5 seconds, but to what end?
The graphic jump can't be as big as it has been in the past. We've already got cloth fabric and realistic skin and hair, and giant screen filling monsters as regular enemies, (which would have once been a final boss only sort of thing) and realistic water and lighting effects and etc. etc... Even if the machines are capable of showing better, can anyone actually tap that potential?
Yup. A lot of developers already are, some games have textures made in far higher fidelity then current consoles can actually show.
Not really too bothered on that score myself, I prefer more stylised stuff like Wind Waker or Muramasa.
The PS3 network maintenance is doing my head in.
I wish they would at least clarify the reason they have taken it down, and when they expect it to be put back up.
Its not even announced on the Playstation community. (other than users bitching about it)
Well they're not going to publicly ADMIT they were hacked. (if the rumors be true.) "Maintenance" is a much nicer vague way of saying it.

Is this to do with the war between them and anon that started a couple of weeks ago then?
Supposedly. Anonymous is claiming credit, at any rate.
Though that may just be the internets being internetty.
Oh? Console Stickies? Nice idea.
Anywho… what the fuck is this?!
"Good evening,
Anonymous is preparing to target the Sony corporation for bringing litigation against innocent individuals who have been creating features for the Playstation 3 which were previously openly available to the public. We refer largely to the ability to install the Linux operating system.
Despite the fact that this was a largely advertised feature, Sony has cut access to the Playstation 3's firmware under the guise of "security concerns". They have removed a core feature after millions of consumers have handed over their hard earned money.
Those who opted not to upgrade their systems were cut off from PSN access, purchased media and lost the ability to to play some games ans Blu-Ray discs. This is unacceptable.
As Techland reported, George Hotz, a programmer, figured out how to "jailbreak" the PS3; thus unlocking the above mentioned features. Hotz (who posts under the handle GeoHotz) published instructions for jailbreaking the PS3 on his personal website. Sony has since brought legal action against him and has received permission to subpoena Bluehost (Hotz's hosting company) to acquire a list of every IP address that ever visited his site.
This is an affront against personal privacy, one which Anonymous will not ignore.
Our demands are these:
Sony must end any and all attempts to prosecute individuals trying to alter a product that they legally own.
Sony must end all current or pending/upcoming litigation against George Hotz and any individuals behind the collected IP addresses.
Sony must allow for end-user modification of their product, as was heavily advertised and available before the 3.21 update.Anonymous recognizes that there are events of greater magnitude occurring in the world today and is actively pursuing those as well. However, threats against our privacy and consumer rights cannot (and will not) go unnoticed.
We are Anonymous.
We are legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
You should have expected us."
Did Sony seriously get hacked…?
...and should this discussion be in the PS3 thread?
Wow, what a bunch of douchebags.
Cause we all know terrorist threats are awesome. And they work every single time, right?
Oh yeah. Most places don't give in to bullshit like that because then it encourages future efforts to do the same.
