This is starting to sound like Political news, what with every next story about how the sky is gonna start falling.
The Nintendo Thread

This is basically a repeat of the doom and gloom that surrounded the 3DS shortly after launch. Though in all honesty I don't see the Wii U managing a repeat of the Wii's success unless Nintendo learns to market the thing much more effective than they are now. And Western third parties not treating the thing like a leper would help too, not that that is very likely.
-
Its the doom and gloom that accompanies pretty much every recent launch. Or at least the Wii U, Vita, 3DS and PS3.
I have no doubt that the Ps4 and Xbox will have difficulties at the start too. Especially if they're both going for the same market.

Yeah. I feel something similar'll happen with the next-gen Playstation and Xbox as well.
Third-parties: Sweet. The next-gen PS and xbox! Those'll sell! …...Why aren't these systems selling!?I honestly think it's because both Microsoft and Sony know that it's going to be difficult to sell new systems without more than a few system sellers right at the start that they're hesitant to release new ones. Heck, at least for me, I still spend a good bit of time playing on my PS2, so I'm not in any real hurry to buy new consoles.

Nintendo was cursed by the massively successful launch of the Wii (people couldn't even find them in stores 6 months after release), and that ship has already sailed for the Wii U. They can't live up to it, and it's not really reasonable to expect any console to.
-
When some of Nintendo's first party power-houses start hitting, it'll start selling like hotcakes.
Pikmin 3, Smash Bros 4, Zelda, 3D Mario a-la Galaxy, etc will launch the system into good sales.
That was the 3DS' problem at first (coupled with the price issue) that it was barren of good games, even from Nintendo.
The Wii U's price isn't a problem, that's a perfectly fine price for a console, they just need some system sellers. Smash Bros I think is the big ticket. -
It's not really that perfectly fine considering its power in this day and age, but I suppose the tablet technology justifies it somewhat. I don't care if it sells like hotcakes or not, I'm just not interested in it right now, nor do I have the money, but Ninty's first party games are always (well, almost always) good so I'll see how those come out.
-
Ubisoft throws a pity demo at Wii U Rayman fans. Even though the game is FINISHED FOR THE WII U.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/wii-u-owners-promised-an-exclusive-rayman-legends-demo-6403705
And unsurprisingly, the Rayman Devs are pissed.
The publisher has no excuse for the move to a september cross console release than,
"I know it's not an elaborate, 'convincing' answer, but it's the simple truth."
-
Hey if Ubisoft wants to compete for my money with this years big Nintendo game they're more than welcome.
-
I picked up paper mario for Wii virtual console since it was avaliable for 200 coins via Club Nintendo
-
Whyyyy is Scribblenauts Unlimited 3DS delayed for Europe AGAIN. Is it because of French / German localization issues? If the damn 3DS wasn't region locked (wonder why they changed it from DS) I could just get my copy from the USA, I'm gonna get an english version anyway.
-
For the Wii U owners a new pokemon game is apparently coming out.
Pokemon Scramble Wii U, the Rumble game was fun for the 3DS atleast but I kinda think they should have waited for the new pokemon generation to come out to make this game, unless they add the new ones later.

Do you have a source?
edit: nvm I found a source http://mynintendonews.com/2013/02/12/pokemon-rumble-u-coming-to-wii-u/ except this one calls it Pokemon Rumble U

haha, I just did the same thing~
so good to play the original after so long
-
I'm definitely grabbin' me some o' that there Paper Mario today, too. Only dabbled with other people's copies of games in the series before. Kind of like with the new Fire Emblem, this will have to tide me over until I can afford Sticker Star.

Be careful, Paper Mario and Paper Mario: Sticker Star are very different. I'd say you're more likely to enjoy Sticker Star if you expect it to be nothing at all like Paper Mario.

I agree. It seemed so much harder the first time I played.

Oh, yeah, thanks, but I'm aware. I know there's big differences in the gameplay. As much as I'm looking forward to trying it, it's just as much the whole aesthetic and brand of humor that I'm craving.

A 3DS and WiiU focused Nintendo Direct set for tomorrow
-
Fingers crossed for something, ANYTHING Dragon Quest
-
Hoping that they confirm/announce some new dates for European games.
-
Wii U is America. Europe is just 3DS.
So yeah. Can't be anything too great if it's for one and not the other. Probably on about how the Americans will get Pikmin etc 3 month before us.
-
At the very least, it's be nice to see if we got the final FE: Awakening release date, and perhaps that of the demo, too. Two of my friends have already beaten the game, and having played every game prior, I am almost physically incapable of waiting.
-
Yeah it's kinda sad when it was announced months ahead of America and yet we have to wait longer. Hopefully they'll do something nice for us to make up for making us wait =3 Doubt it tho.

Been like that with a lot of stuff, Blazblue was ridiculous for example, worse Shin Megami Tensei is coming out in 2013 here, it came out in 2011 in Japan and US but Atlus apparently shits on us so not much hope for that here, man I-m really looking forward to some hack that removes the region lock soon.
-
Yeah really feels like they've gone out of the way to punish us with the whole region lock thing. When the region wasn't locked most of the releases were out on same day. Although I do remember Phantom Hourglass was months apart. Which was silly.
Atlus are late for everything tho :/ Catherine took months. We not even got Persona Arena and it's been out….a year?
-
I'm guessing from the fact that there doesn't seem to be a Japanese Nintendo DIrect that most of the games showed will be localizations of stuff that's out or that we already know about. We might get a few western third party games too, but I'm somewhat doubtful about that right now
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
and a direct just got announced for Japan as well, so that changes things a bit

-
New Mario and Luigi is a great thing to wake up to, but once more I must lament yet another series leaving sprites behind.
-
Eshop sale and a special promotion that lets you get one of 5 games free if you buy a 3ds xl and either Luigi's Mansion dark moon or New pokemon mystery dungeon during a specific period of time
-
Holy shit loving this Nintendo direct, they are basicly confirming every game I wanted to come out to come out from April to August, great stuff.
Even Inazuma eleven 3 which I find weird that comes out for 3DS, I prefered the 3DS games but wtv I wanted the game.
New Donkey Kong games nice, man great Nintendo Direct, this is going to be a nice year for 3DS here in Europe :D.
Also don't have a 3DSXL and the Fire emblem one is pretty awesome so I migth buy one.
-
Oh and also Donkey Kong Returns 3D was announced at some point, might have only beein in Europe Nintendo Direct so far
Yeah, just came up in NA direct, seems like it might just be a port of the wii game -
Still not a single word whatsoever about the Dragon Quest franchise. It's… it's okay, I'm not worried. Not worried... at all...
-
it appears to be. also project x zone for 3ds in europe this summer and finally fire emblem release date for europe as well.
They wern't kidding about luigi 2013 though and this is just 3ds. He'll be in mario kart u and probably the 3d platformer as well
-
Project X Zone is coming to Europe? Wan't expecting it to leave Japan..
-

Sean, do you need to come over and cry on my shoulder?
-
Be interesting to see how in depth the luigi nsmbu dlc will be. Certainly sounds more like what I expected dlc to be then horse armour or costumes.

Well the DQM remake looks rubbish and DQ7 only came out last week, so I don't care about the former and am not too worried yet about the latter.
Yeah, get ready for KaizokuJinbei to make a thread for each individual announcement.
gotta go fast

Wasn't this more focused on being a first party one? The third party one is next week. Worry then if it's not announced. http://mynintendonews.com/2013/02/14/third-party-3ds-nintendo-direct-set-for-next-week/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

I like that Luigi is getting so much love this year.
-
Gotta love a Luigi year, but I'd love a Samus year the most…
-
So Donkey Kong looks like a port of the Wii game and not a new one. Pretty disappointed. As much as I love the Wii one I woulda liked something new from it.
-
Legend of the River King coming to 3DS? cool..i never got to finish it years ago..
wonder how its going to look considering it was a Green/black game and not a GBC gameEDIT: apparently there were 2 versions? i only know of the GB original ver.
-
IGN have said that Nintendo are bringing out the Fire Emblem 3DS boxset in europe, but with a twist - the Europe model is a 3DSXL! Sorely tempted.

Yeah, but since square are so abysmally useless everyone expects DQ to only come over if Nintendo decide to publish, so people were hoping for today.

No waggle is a pretty big plus for me, but I'll wait to see if they add anything.
-
If the price is right I might have to upgrade..again to the Fire Emblem one. Despite only buying an XL a few month ago. Happy that its out earlier than expected. Coulda at least done another week early so it came out for my birthday XD
-
Yeah i'm moving in april for a month and so will probably have my laptop and 3ds and that's it. Was hoping it was earlier so i could get play fire emblem the whole time
-
Yeah, get ready for KaizokuJinbei to make a thread for each individual announcement.
More threads the merrier

That Luigi's Mansion footage was mouthwatering.

That Luigi's Mansion footage was mouthwatering.
Definetly one of the games that impressed me most but what really got me excited was Animal Crossing, I saw the 45mins developer video and the game just looks amazing, the last one I played was WW this one looks like it has so many more new stuff to do and new modes, I seriously didn't even notice the 45minutes passsing while I was watching the video.
