Well these will be exclusives. I'd imagine that those two will come out for everyone. Although wasn't there a rumour that they wanted to 3D remake LttP?
No, you're thinking of Majora's Mask.

No, you're thinking of Majora's Mask.
They did say a few months ago about how they would like to do LttP in 3D. But then nothing since.

I FINALLY Got a 3DS!!!!
I've pretty much set everything, started playing Zelda and I LOVE it! The AR are awesome the mii making is awesome. I dont know how to see my friend code either and I need to figure out how to enable streetpass,
was also wondering if the whole 20 free games is eligible for Canadian 3ds owners?
I'm sure it would be, considering it's happening everywhere else. I feel like stuff like this applies to regions more than individual countries anyway

You can see you FC by clicking on the orange smiley on the top in the Home Menu.
Oh there we go! Thanks a lot!!
3DS Friend Code is 3823-8664-3087 :)
Go to a hotspot. You can easily connect to one there, unless you aren't near one.
Oh, hey, I just found out there was one in walking distance :D This is good. It's at an ice cream parlor, so that's also kind of cool.
Thanks for giving me the idea to check again.

"****Following the 3DSprice cut announcementyesterday, Nintendo PresidentSatoru Iwatasaid he is taking a 50 percent pay cut." "Needless to say, the deduction of the fixed compensation is what we volunteered to do in order to show our sincere attitude and to fulfill our responsibility. We really must recover our financial performance and take Nintendo back into the position in the marketplace where it is well appreciated."
Even after that he's probably still making more money than a lot of us will in our entire lives.
A 50% pay cut is harsh and I know he doesn't take complete responsibility over the 3DS's sales. I feel a little bad.
Then again it's no wonder the 3DS isn't doing as well as they planned since there are basically no games worth owning currently. Not counting the few games I've bought off the shop the only 3DS exclusive title I own is Ocarina of Time.
What a brave man… respectable even TBH.

To be fair. I think the earthquake in japan didn't help. I'm sure if stuff wasn't delayed due to that we might have more.
I kinda think Nintendo shoulda released the 3DS in June/July. Gotten Zelda out for launch, priced Pilotwings and Steel Diver at £20 rather than £35 and went from there.

Ah that's true. I didn't even consider that.
I bought my 3DS 50% for Zelda OOT3D and 50% on the promise of games to come. Star Fox, Luigi's Mansion, Mario 3DS, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Smash Bros? Yes, very much yes.
This whole "I get 20 free games" thing is awesome tho. Most of those games run anywhere from 5-10 bucks, so 20 free ones is like 100-200 dollars of content for free. And I'm perfectly fine with that.
Makes him even more likable … he really cares about the gamers you can clearly see it.
a true boss :')
I'm wondering what is everyones hopefuls are for the remaining 10 games.
I personally would like to see:
NES: Startropics, Clu Clu Land, Metroid, Wario's Woods & Punch-Out!!!. I'd rather Kid icarus was there instead of Wario's woods however i'm hoping It will be made into a 3D Classics title or appear as an extra in Uprising so i didn't include it.
As for GBA: Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, Golden Sun, Advance Wars, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones and Mother 3… Ok the last ones very unlikely so instead Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
I'm assuming there only gonna be Nintendo Made games that's why theres no mega man or sonic on the list
Golden Sun would be an absolutely awful choice since it really isn't a stand alone game. You'd need to include both the first Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age to really make it worthwhile
But having the first one would make you want to get the second one later. For money.
It'd be stupid of Nintendo to release one of them for money and the other as an exclusive for early buyers. And if we assume that Nintendo does eventually release all these games on the eshop for money, it would mean that Golden Sun being on there is a dead give away of that plan. I really just don't see it happening
What are you talking about?

FREE GAMES FOR YOU!
Well my luck certainly has taken a turn!
I love most of the games they're planning on releasing for the program, and I've yet to play Yoshi's Island and Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, which I've been wanting to for a while.
I love you, Nintendo. I really, really do!
–edit--
I'm having some trouble updating my 3DS. It starts updating for a few minutes, and the blue bar grows about a centimeter, and then it just says there's a problem. I looked at Nintendo's site about it and I think it's because I don't have a fast enough internet connection. Has this happened to anyone else?
I could see the first M&L RPG game headed in the 20 game pack or something like one of the FF advance series
@Mr.:

Happens frequently apparently only thing you can do is keep downloading until you get lucky.
I would love one of the games to be Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow version classic Pokemon FTW…that is aslong as when they say 10 free "Game Boy" games that all Game Boy consoles apply
It's 10 free NES games early and 10 exclusive GBA games
Yea more people want game's out of the GBA's cataloge than they do out of GB Classic.
According to this article, Nintendo's overall sales have been down and their stocks have been plummeting. Their former CEO and largest shareholder apparently just lost half a billion dollars from Nintendo's stock being drastically downgraded in value and it's probably a result of the 3DS's premature price slashing. Nintendo's stock also took a noticeable dive after the announcement of Wii-U, which probably means investors have not been impressed with it.
Nintendo is still riding high on the fumes of the Wii and DS's success, but it would appear that good things don't last forever. Some people might argue that Nintendo was so eager to continue to re-capture that success next gen that they just added a 3 to the DS and a U to the Wii and thought they'd be set, and while that may be an oversimplification, I do think that represents the attitude they have towards the next batch of consoles. The 3DS is the DS trying to be Jimbo Cameron's Avatar, and the Wii-U is the Wii trying to be an iPad.
Nintendo's history is full of ups and downs, but it would be pretty shocking if after making one of the most successful consoles of all time Nintendo dipped right back into hardships. We won't know what fate has in store for the Wii-U until it releases, but given the lukewarm reaction to the 3DS I can't help but wonder if Nintendo's "blue ocean" has been fished-out.
Thoughts/opinions, the usual…
Sorry mods, should have posted this in the Nintendo thread.
Well this was to be expected. Ever since they decided to gear themselves towards the casual gamers, they have been slipping. I have a PS3 and a Wii attached to the same TV and find myself playing the PS3 far more than the Wii. It is just not fun anymore to own a Wii, the only reason I still have it is for Skyward Sword and that is pretty much it. The PS3 and, God help me, the XBox 360 have far superior hardcore games that people actually buy. I do see that Nintendo is trying to get back to its old fans, but much like Duke Nukem Forever…too little too late...
I'm sure once Mario 3D Land, Skyward Sword and Mario Kart come out things'll pick up again. The problem is that Nintendo tried to appease 3rd party developers on launch so their games would sell more because they didn't want a Zelda or Mario out. Then the earthquake happened and not only did everything get delayed but Japan was more concerned about other things than buying games.
People have been saying Nintendo's going out since the N64 era. The 3DS was the biggest selling console in Japan for the past few weeks. DS still sells loads. Wii is selling but not quite as much as before. Same as 3DS. The last noteable Wii game was Kirby Epic Yarn back in Feb. Next is Zelda. There's the likes of Xenosaga but I doubt that will shift as much as people think. Even the DS itself seems to be drying up.
Nintendo in trouble is hardly a bad thing either. As somebody else said before. Nintendo seem to be a lot better when they're fighting to be number 1
But if the rumours that the PSP Vita is to be out in October. Nintendo REALLY need to pull their thumbs out and get some of these games out earlier. They've dropped the ball with Kid Icarus. A game supposed to be in the launch window now not even being out in time for Christmas. And I seriously doubt a Starfox port is gonna be enough. (It's certainly not something I'll be paying full price for.)
I do love the new 3DS adverts on the TV tho. This is how they should market it. Not 'celeb of the week saying stuff'
Christmas is when we'll see sales of the consoles go back up again methinks.

Aw c'mon.
You didn't like the Robin Williams Ocarina of Time ad? I thought it was cute, and c'mon: I bet he and his daughter really wanted to do it.

Pretty much this. Even if the 3DS and Wii-U fail, they can probably release one or two other gen with the money they earned before. They won't die soon. Don't trust the stock thing: the system always react like a scared mouse in front of an eagle while it's just a sparrow (seriously, capitalist system is just shit). It wil come back to normal when the 3DS sales will pick up, which i'm quite confident: price cut (inferior to Vita) and big games released fo the holiday period (and Nintendo games tend to sell more in the long run).
Concerning the lack of games on 3DS, I'd like to remind that it's a console who just launched. Nearly every console released ever was in the same boat.
This time, Nintendo just waited to release their big games to give a chance to the third party since they always say: "We don't sell on Nintendo systems! Only Nintendo games sells!" and they've took the chance to do … nothing, going "It's an interesting console and concept. We will develop games for it if it sells millions",hence the lack of games.
So Nintendo will release Mario Kart 7 and Mario 3DS Land and third parties will go back to their former stance. Nintendo can't win with third parties.
If, instead of talking, they had released quality games and advertised them correctly (you know, like Nintendo do. There is a reason beside the iconic franchise why Nintendo games sells better), the 3DS would have sell better and they would make money. Look at DS, there's a shitload of third party games who sells very well!
Yeah people seem to be forgetting that people will buy the likes of Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Metroid and Pokemon no matter what. I'm sure there'll be people who buy a 3DS just for one of those games alone. A lot of people when it was launched simply said '3DS looks good. I'll wait till they release Zelda for it.'
Nintendo's games sell systems. Whereas some of the others are just gaems people buy if they own the console. I know I didn't buy a 3DS to play Street Fighter, Ghost Recon or Samurai Warriors. Even if they are decent games. (I also didn't buy it cus it was 3D. I bought cus I know all of the Nintendo games were coming for it.)
3DS is a handheld, dudes. But that's irrelevant.
Yeah people seem to be forgetting that people will buy the likes of Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Metroid and Pokemon no matter what.
Man, I hate to admit it, because I'm just like this, but reading this makes me realize how much Nintendo rely on nostalgia alone. Most of these are 20-year old franchises and one of them hasn't even changed core-structure/gameplay wise since the first game.
Oh well, it's true, no one can say it isn't, but like many of you, I don't give a shit. I will buy Wii-U simply enough for the fact that many of those old-ass franchises that rely so much on nostalgia will be fucking amazing to play with HD 720p (hopefully they can do 1080p though) high-end PC like graphics. I can't wait.
If things ever go that bad, they'll just trim sails and only make uber-hardcore games again.
And the ups/downs thing is pretty much hyperbole, even in the "dark days" of the GC era nintendo didn't make a loss, below is dollars & profit, sony doesn't include SOE and doesn't have the latest figures where I assume sony & ms are now in profit but it's only there for the early years when nintendo weren't thought to be doing well anyway:
Nintendo in trouble is hardly a bad thing either. As somebody else said before. Nintendo seem to be a lot better when they're fighting to be number 1
When you look at how the Nintendo 64 & Gamecube sold overall in comparison to the NES & SNES you start to wonder if whoever said that was high out of their mind.
Concerning the lack of games on 3DS, I'd like to remind that it's a console who just launched. Nearly every console released ever was in the same boat.
I said this before in the main Nintendo thread but when you launch a system (console or handheld) it's a good idea to have at least 1 or 2 good games on it
something some of Nintendo's previous handhelds did and something the 3DS (depending on your preference for games) didn't do. I mean hell even the PS3
which might now be tied or surpassed for most underwhelming launch had at least one good game at launch (once again a preference issue).
I've said this before, but the 3DS Y1 games are light years ahead of the DS Y1 games.
The only thing that has changed is the level of expectation around nintendo.
Aw c'mon.
You didn't like the Robin Williams Ocarina of Time ad?
No idea this existed.
Thanks, i liked that commercial.
That man could fit an aviary in his beard.
Funny that GVR mentioned Sony, considering how Nintendo seems to be in the same position Sony were back in 06. Not as bad, though. DS selling more than the 3DS does seem frightening.
Another problem with the 3DS is it's scarce publicity and the fact that many people, mostly casuals, don't seem to understand that the device isn't just a new iteration of the DS. Could be the name, as well. It's pretty indistinguishable from a marketing perspective.
Sucks that I've yet to actually catch the new IT'S NOT A DS, IT'S THE 3DS commercial.
The beard makes him look more jolly i'd say.
Or like he just got out of Jumanji….. again.
They should make an advert where he's trying to play the ds and van pelt starts shooting at him….IN 3D
Or he gets sucked into the 3DS and has to run from rhinos.
Oh and he can fly too.
That beards gotta cause major drag problems though.
Aw c'mon.
You didn't like the Robin Williams Ocarina of Time ad? I thought it was cute, and c'mon: I bet he and his daughter really wanted to do it.
That one was great. I was meaning stuff like this:
Not even mentioning Jedwood of all people advertising Dragon Quest. Or JLS advertising Wii Play. Or whoever did the Pokemon B+W ones. Terrible.
I do like the new one tho:
Actually showing the games rather than random people reacting to the game = win.
What, you mean the 3DS is a whole new handheld and not just another short term upgrade from the DS-DsLite-DSxl-Ds with camera line?
I don't see how anyone could possibly be confused by Nintendo releasing a 5th system in 5 years that has the phrase "DS" in it, 4 of which were actually the same system.
Especially when it s going to have Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, Pokemon and Star Fox games on it!
There's no question that Nintendo has done this to themselves. On top of saturating the handheld market, they released the 3DS two months early to please shareholders before it had the launch games or the online services to support it.
Nintendo hasn't had to do a price drop like this on a system since the Virtual Boy: http://kotaku.com/5825689/how-unusual-was-the-3ds-price-cut
The system isn't selling, and big name publishers are wavering on committing to games for it - there've been a lot of game cancellations (Assassin's Creed, Saint's Row, Bloodrayne, four Hudson games including Bomberman, and, of course, Megaman Legends 3).
One wonders how much better the PSVita is going to fare. Thing of it is, iOS handhelds are already a billion dollar industry. Zynga has the highest theoretical market value of any publisher: it's more cost effective to make games for mobile platforms than it is to make real games, and the gaming industry as we know it has yet to catch onto this fact.
It was a bad idea to try and base a system on 3D, because people are already experiencing 3D fatigue from Hollywood, and Nintendo has an uphill climb ahead of it, when even top personnel are saying the 3D is superfluous.
But it's Nintendo, and they're always the first ones to get counted out, so I'm hopeful.
Get it together, guys.

DS North american launch games: Asphalt Urban GT, Feel the magic, Madden NFL, Ping Pals, Ridge Racer DS, Spiderman 2, Sprung, Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt (so a demo), Super Mario 64 DS, The Urbz and a Tiger Woods game. Still better than 3DS?

It had online play just nothing much to play on it outside of Street Fighter IV

Take out everything except for Super Mario 64 and you have a good launch title (spotty as it was) that launched with the system.

I don't think people will miss games like Bomberman much less BloodRayne which not many people cared about in the first place.

Oh they know about this trust me, you can't ignore a company or another publisher that's raking in billions of dollars with niche games that most hardcore gamers typically snub their noses at which is more or less the reason why mobile gaming hasn't made console or handheld gaming obsolete.
Iwata said the 3DS and Wii U will have DLC.
I can't paste the source URL from my iPod, sorry.
