Oda could go the route of Jinbei just use to hate humans because of the fishertiger incident, but Ace/Luffy changed his view on them. The two chapters that mention so far said he set them loose/left not any dispute. http://www.citymanga.com/one_piece/chapter-69/07/ It also could be something to do with him becoming a warlord because it says "in exchange".
Chapter 619: "At the Sea Forest" Discussion

If Nami could forgive Hachi, and he was ACUTALLY there when it all happened. I'm pretty damn sure she's going to forgive Jinbe.

I don't think it was Ace or Luffy that changed his views on humans, but most probably queen otohime since he speaks of her ideals.
However I'm sure Ace and Luffy just add more to his appreciation of humans.
-
Yay, WATERKAMEHAMEHAAAA!!!
-
^^Don't forget Whitebeard. It wasn't really made clear exactly when he started protecting FI, but if Jimbei was once of Arlong's school I imagine that that was a pretty major eye-opener for him.

He deeply respected Whitebeard long before Ace appeared.
I'd say it has something to do with him.
Edit: and i'm TOO SLOW XD

Jinbe's wtf face is awesome.

Hey ! I was the one callled that one first but whatever.
It will be pretty cool to see WB declaring FI his territory and make the bad pirates and Bounty hunters flee for their lives.
-
I want to see Arlong as a cute little cutie kiddo kid.
-
Won't it be more likely he'll be a surly teen instead.
-
Iam the first time in my life rly hyped for an upcoming flashback.
I hope Oda will take his time with it and give it at least 5-6 chapters to show us how everything developed the way we have it now presented. Why Jinbe had to banish Arlong from his crew:
My take on that question would be that the WG wanted to give away a warlord place to a fishman to getting their tighter connections.
By that they were aware that many of the Sunny-pirates actually planned to start a revolution against humanity.
By disbanding the crew they proved Jinbes loyality and weakend that movement. Jinbe decided to take that offer and by that trying to get freedom with the "communicating"-way, so he banished those crewmembers who had the ideology of destroying humanity. Arlong and others were pissed by that action of their capt
n, so that they decided to create a new pirate-crew to try it their own way.
But they couldnt stay longer at FI, thats why they searched for a place to build themselves up, to get powerful enough to reach their greatest goal. SO Arlong chosed to start at the bottom..at the weakest sea,the East Blue. Jinbe still emotional hurt was able to disband them from his crew, but wasn
t able to stop them, even when he knew that they would cause suffer..but still those were his crewmates. -
For a change I was reading very old chapters, i saw the following
http://www.mangareader.net/103-2142-8/one-piece/chapter-69.html
Which already says Jinbe had to leave Arlong in east blue to attain SB status… of course
Luffy being Luffy, the details are disclosed in chapter 620 instead of 69http://www.mangareader.net/103-2142-9/one-piece/chapter-69.html
I am amazed that Jinbei's story was decided very long back….
-
But where is is crew, which Camie and Hodi's crew have spoken about?
-
I don't think they ever said that the former Sunny pirates were with Jimbei now, did they? Just referred to them as "Jimbei's gang" and said that they all left the island at the same time as Jimbei did? So maybe they went into the NW as Jimbei decided to stay and wait for Luffy, or something.
-
It is cool how nicely Oda planned this out.
Kishido, your signature is great!
Just had to comment on it. You have it cropped down quite nicely. -
Is it me or Luffy is gonna listen to someone's past for the first time ?

not for first time there was also Robin story, Brook and Montblack Cricket

Robin's story was told to us. If Luffy heard it, sth I highly doubt, it's sth that happened offscreen

-
It's not like this flashback is about a crewmember of Luffy's. The only one he's heard of was Brook's.
Hell, there might not even be a "flashback" it might just be us seeing Jimbe's face, with a few panels of what happened in the background. Since Jimbe's telling the story, he'd have to narrate it if we are treated to a full flashback. I'm really not ready for a full flashback yet anyway. I want to progress with the actual story. So I will be kinda disappointed if this takes more than like 2 chapters.
-

I'm just…
Speechless. I don't get it. I don't understand how about these matters of all things, of all these things, TWO huge deaths that were murders, a huge amount of characters and plot stretching alllll the way back to East Blue, central to not only Fishman islands backstory but one of our main cast's...
And you...think we could get this in not only background panels, but "a few" background panels.
You're shitting me.Since Jimbe's telling the story, he'd have to narrate it if we are treated to a full flashback.
And….again I'm speechless.
Yet glad. Glad that for whatever reason, all the ridiculous misconceptions about what Oda does with flashbacks have been brought to the surface if nothing else.
ESPECIALLY since what you just said makes literally no sense given nothing of the fucking sort happened with Nojiko. Why the hell don't you people get that when Oda has a character tell something to people, and a flashback occurs, we are seeing a really in depth visually full almost time machine experience, that is NOT what the character is telling the people exactly. Nojiko explains some stuff to Usopp and Sanji, and instead of that....because of how important and emotionally massive the subject is Oda treats us the reader to a leap back in time.
Why you dongs are trying to make up all these dumb non-existent rules about how Oda showing us whatever he wants of the past is somehow fucking tied to bullshit going on when the flashback starts is just testament to how bad people are at following a children's comic book.
I'm really not ready for a full flashback yet anyway.
You SHOULD be. Jesus christ, how much longer do you need to be ready for the story of the Pirates of the Sun, Arlong and Jimbei's relationship etc.
We've been waiting on some of this shit for eleven goddamn years.I want to progress with the actual story.
The fuck do you think flashback's are for???
So I will be kinda disappointed if this takes more than like 2 chapters.
Then you have no one to blame but yourself.
-
^ I think he's a pissed!
Edit: No I get what you mean. I meant I didn't want the full flashback yet, not until something even major happens in Fish-Man Island arc. But obviously you're ready to hear it all.
-
^ I think he's a pissed!
Actually I'm pretty happy, because I'm not the one who is going to dis-enjoy great storytelling because I'm incompetent at following a comic book aimed at 12 year olds.
-
awesome. ~~~~~~~~

@JERK:
No, I think I hate the "YO LUFFYS GONNA BACKHAND THAT NOBLE FRIEND OF HIS FOR APOLOGIZING ABOUT A PAST EVIL SO FUCKIN BAD LOL, CANt WAIT, HES GONNA TALK SHIT TOO, JUST WATCH, PROBABLY SODOMIZE HIM WHILE DRINKIN' A PABST AFTER HE DONE" people most.
This is the dumbest most uninformed post youve ever made which is saying alot if someone could ever form an opionon of your miserable sorry life of sitting at a computer stroking ur ego on an anime forum. U spend like 80 percent of ur life on this computer but yet u still couldn't find out what i truly said. All I said is why would luffy accept an apology over something that didn't inconvience him one bit when jenbe's decision completly ruined nami's life. One of the crewmates jenbe has yet to meet that is standing five feet away with dire informtion. Go get some tang and quit being a troll.

Muah can we argue anthropology and world affairs again, it's a lot of fun. You're good exercise.
It's not often I get to talk about Nubian/Sudanese history and make references to the Yugoslav wars….which is all I really want...The "tang" if you will.
-
not all flashbacks are the same, he can tell it however he wants to tell it. we get the info regardless and that's all that matters

There's some logic to be had in not wanting the entire flashback yet. We know that it will be split into at least 3 parts. One about Tiger and the Pirates of the Sun. One about the assassination of Queen Otohime. And then a third from Robin about ancient history.
In an arc that's totally pivotal around the flashback, sectioning it off is a viable method of delivery. The upside is a portion of the arc with half the necessary information to keep us guessing. The downside is that Jinbe covers two of the three parts, but he could be interrupted believably enough.
-
It's not the idea of breaking it up that he was presenting, it was the fact that he literally was just like "UGH A FLASHBACK?? CAN WE PUT THAT SHIT OFF? I WANT PLOT".
-
Yeah, well, that's stupid, and I'd rather turn it into a decent argument.
-
The story was in dire need of some background, seriously.
-
Well, the background is necessary to develop Jinbe, since he'll be joining at the end of the arc.

He is not fit to join the strawhats, Luffy's idiocy would give him a heart attack in a no time.

-
Sounded like he just wants some big events to happen in the present before focusing on a flashback. Flashback will obviously expand on the plot but also acts like an intermission to the ongoing events.
Vander Decken is on Luffy's tail, Princes are absent, Hodi has Neptune, his lieutenants are spread out, and then there is Robin. I can understand wanting all these events resolve before moving onto whatever plot points are brought up by the flashbacks.
-
No no, that's precisely what I had in mind.
The guy can't cope with that, if he joins he is dead fish.
-
Nami's response to Jinbe: Input Nami rage pic here
-
I'm glad we are heading into a flashback, the arc was missing….something for me so far. For the first time in the two years of reading One Piece I have gotten almost bored with this arc for reasons I can't exactly place. I guess what I've been missing is that background story that is a staple of all great One Piece arcs that makes you care about the people and the island the crew is currently on. Hopefully this flashback will bring my interest back into the arc plus give me some much desired info on Fisher Tiger and Arlong's past...
-
i loled so hard!
totally true! but i hope nami has calmed down from that 'oi oi oi oi oi' guy. -

Holy shit….Oda once again astounds me
-
Zoro being faster than hodi in water was great to see… .. anyway .. now that we saw how much stronger hodi get by taking just 1 pill I'd like to see him having a rematch against zoro but after taking several pills... (lol at luffy misunderstanding who Tom's brother was)
-
He is not fit to join the strawhats, Luffy's idiocy would give him a heart attack in a no time.
If Nami can hanndle Luffy than so can Jinbei
-
then do us a favour and introduce something new to talk about, not worthless sentences like what u just type. otherwise dont complain if ppl wanna discuss somethign that hasn't been solved yet, which would make it a viable topic to talk about
Says the guy complaining about people complaining.
-
@Samwize: Lol. I guess it's clear East blue was sacrificed, given to Arlong as a hunting field by the WG (and Jimbei by association as it was for his position) but was it in exchange for Arlong not doing something? Maybe he caused a threathening enough uproar to the WG on Jimbei's decision "to work with humans" that he had to be calmed down with such an offering.
Whatever it is tts gonna be a tough wait to find out drags self on floor
I suppose that makes sense. Wasn't there a Marine guy that showed up for the Money that Arlong was supposed to have for him or something?
Also interesting points about how much the crew actually knows about each other. I would assume very little. Zoro is the one that tends to question why Luffy wants who he wants on occassion. But other than that nobody asks for a background check.
I also must say, the just accepting it mentality the crew has drives me insane sometimes. Because after the time skip I really wanted someone to raise a question about Zoro's eye. Missing a body part would generally perk a question. Or should if they were normal I guess.
-
IDK if this has been brought up in the past 24 pages, but did someone see that Den has webbings (swimskins) between his fingers? (ch619, pg11 (pg12 if you count mangastream's self-dickswinging credits*), middle-left panel).
Isn't that sth only fishmen have but not mermen? Maybe an "orchestral mistake" of Oda, he calls mistakes like that orcestral, like showing BB's full teeth without any holes.
If Den's webbing/swimskins have already been brought up forget my post here.
The first 3 or so pages have been mostly bout Jinbe's wtf-face and FB-hyping.
I'm @ w, so I still have to read all the prevent pages.
Because right now I don't have much to do @ w.*in german we say "selbstbeweihräucherung" or "sich selbst eierschaukeln" ="selfdickswinging
-
LOL self dick swinging
Yeah and shouldn't Neptune's tail be split? (I'm guessing there should've been a discussion on this already too)

actually, luffy did ask zoro where he was sent by Kuma.
